Susan Sly shared thisCelebrating a dear friend’s birthday in LA was made even more special by great company, meaningful conversation, and a reminder that the best ideas often happen around the dinner table. It was wonderful spending time with my husband Chris Arkeveld, CPA, Roselyn Sánchez, and Eric Winter. Roselyn has built an extraordinary career across film and television, including standout roles in Rush Hour 2, Act of Valor, Without a Trace, Devious Maids, and Fantasy Island. Eric, known for his work in The Rookie, Days of Our Lives, The Mentalist, Witches of East End, The Ugly Truth, and Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, brought such a thoughtful perspective to our conversation. Eric and I had a fascinating discussion about how AI is transforming Hollywood — from storytelling and production workflows to audience engagement, personalization, and the evolving questions around creative ownership. The opportunity is extraordinary. So is the responsibility. As AI becomes part of the creative process, the question is not simply, “What can we automate?” The more important question is: How do we use AI to amplify human creativity, protect trust, and create a future that serves people first? Hollywood has always shaped culture. Now, as AI becomes part of entertainment, the industry has an opportunity to lead with imagination, integrity, and humanity. Toju and I were recently recognized among the Top 7 Women Globally in AI Thought Leadership for 2026 by CTO Magazine, and it was powerful to continue these conversations in a room focused on the real-world impact of AI across healthcare systems, patient outcomes, ethics, accessibility, and innovation. What stood out most was the shared commitment to ensuring AI is implemented responsibly, collaboratively, and in ways that truly improve human lives. These conversations matter. Maryland's Commission for Women is a powerful, "get it done" group of diverse women and will create the road map for states to follow.Susan Sly reacted on thisMaryland is leading the nation in shifting menopause from a private struggle to a public policy priority. 🏛️✨ On Tuesday, May 26th, the Maryland Commission for Women joined First Lady Dawn Moore at the Governor’s House for a vital screening of the groundbreaking documentary, The M Factor 2: Before the Pause-Perimenopause. The film exposes: the medical blind spots, structural inequities, and economic toll of menopause that force too many women to step back from the workforce at the peak of their careers, a phenomenon known as "The Grey Attrition." Following the screening, Commission Executive Director Ariana Kelly joined executive producer Denise Pines, Sharon Malone, and moderator Tisha Edwards, MSW, JD for a panel discussion on building a true continuum of care. With the recent passage of historic menopause legislation (HB1365) and the support of the FAMLI Act, Maryland is pioneering the structural changes needed to protect women’s health at every stage of life. Many women notice they feel more overwhelmed, more easily overstimulated, and more physically affected by stress during perimenopause and menopause. That’s not “just aging.” Hormonal shifts can change how the nervous system responds to stress, sleep disruption can lower resilience, and many midlife women are carrying an enormous mental load — careers, aging parents, teens, relationships, health changes, and caregiving all at once. If this season feels heavy sometimes, you are not alone. A few gentle reminders for managing stress in midlife: ✅Your nervous system needs recovery, not just productivity. ✅Rest is productive. ✅Saying “no” can be a health strategy. ✅Movement helps — but it doesn’t always need to be intense. ✅Blood sugar balance and sleep have a huge impact on stress resilience. ✅Chronic stress can show up as fatigue, irritability, weight changes, anxiety, inflammation, or poor sleep. Simple things that truly help: 🔹Morning sunlight 🔹Walking outdoors 🔹Strength training a few times a week 🔹Deep breathing or breathwork 🔹Protein-rich meals 🔹Reducing alcohol 🔹Creating small moments of calm during the day 🔹Connecting with supportive women 🔹Watching the sunset And maybe most importantly: You do not have to earn rest by burning yourself out first! Susan Sly reacted on thisSusan Sly reacted on thisLast week was Armed Forces Day, and today is Memorial Day during Military Appreciation Month — a time to recognize and thank the men and women who serve our country, 🇺🇸many of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice, including the 13 fallen from the war in Iran, whose inspirational stories I’ve just reread. 🫡 Fewer than 1% of Americans serve, which makes me especially proud that my son is among them — an Army First Lieutenant, West Point graduate, and EOD officer. Military service develops leaders who unite teams, solve complex problems, and lead with integrity. Veterans strengthen our companies and communities every day, and I’m grateful to work alongside many at KPMG. To my son, who continues to serve, and to all veterans: thank you for your sacrifice, leadership, and unwavering commitment to something greater than yourselves.

I was very involved in a trauma centre that worked to liberate girls from trafficking. These beautiful souls had been forced into a life of slavery and the objective was to help these children receive psychological, and physical care, teach them new skills and help them to reintegrate into society.
