Robert E. Johnson reposted thisRobert E. Johnson reposted thisIn the high-stakes world of quarterly targets and market share, we often forget the only metric that truly endures. The greatest compliment you can ever receive is that you made a positive impact on someone’s life. Think of Sir Richard Branson, who famously attributes Virgin’s success not to his own brilliance, but to his obsession with how his employees feel. He understands that a leader’s legacy isn’t a balance sheet; it’s the quiet transformation of a team member who finally found their voice under your watch. When you lead with heart, you aren't just managing "resources"—you are healing spirits and igniting potential. Years from now, they won't remember the spreadsheets, but they will never forget how you made them feel capable when they felt small. Impact is the only currency that never devalues. Build people, and the results will follow. - Our new Amazon Bestseller, Inspirational Leadership Quotes, Finding The Courage To Lead, is more than just a collection of quotes; it serves as a heartfelt guide for transformation. Robert E. Johnson reposted thisRobert E. Johnson reposted thisIn the heat of a crisis, when voices rise and pressure mounts, true leadership reveals itself through stillness. It’s easy to be swept up by uncertainty and noise, but the real leader is the one who remains anchored—the calmest person in the room. Their steady presence inspires trust, offering clarity when confusion reigns. They listen, assess, and guide others with compassion, not just authority. In today’s fast-paced world, we need leaders who radiate stability, empathy, and resilience. When the storm hits, look for the person who brings calm to the chaos. Follow them. That’s where growth, innovation, and true success are found. - Our new Amazon Bestseller, Inspirational Leadership Quotes, Finding The Courage To Lead, is more than just a collection of quotes; it serves as a heartfelt guide for transformation. Robert E. Johnson reposted thisRobert E. Johnson reposted thisAfter 20 years of leadership (and countless mistakes), Here's what I wish someone had told me: Everyone wants the title. Few are ready for the weight. Being the boss isn’t just about power. It’s about pressure, perception, and people. Here’s what really changes when you step into the role: 1/ The Authority Paradox → You get more power but feel less powerful → Everyone expects clear answers in unclear situations → Your uncertainty must look like confidence 2/ The Echo Effect → Random comments become company doctrine → Casual feedback creates sleepless nights → Your mood becomes the team's weather 3/ The Reality Shift → You think you're managing projects → You're actually managing emotions → Technical problems are easy; human ones are hard 4/ The Trust Timeline → Build relationships before you need them → Crisis reveals trust, it doesn't create it → You can't withdraw from an empty bank 5/ The Hidden Weight → Watch who stops speaking up in meetings → Notice who's leaving early (or staying late) → Your most stressed team members hide it best 6/ The Shield Role → Absorb pressure from above → Filter chaos before it hits your team → Let them focus while you handle fire 7/ The Hard Truth → Delaying tough conversations multiplies pain → Clarity with empathy beats comfort with confusion → Teams respect honesty over artificial harmony 8/ The Success Trap → Your individual excellence got you here → That same excellence will sabotage your leadership → Learn to succeed through others' success 9/ The Growth Pressure → Self-doubt means you're paying attention → Questions are stronger than certainty → Your vulnerability gives others permission to be human No one's ready to be "the boss." But authenticity, empathy, and consistency bridge the gap. ♻️ Repost and follow Justin Bateh, PhD

Robert E. Johnson liked thisRobert E. Johnson liked thisWhen I was sixteen years old, I was arrested on Perry Street in Pontiac. School had just let out. As I stood against the police car, I watched school buses drive by. People were pointing, laughing, staring. The officer asked me, "Was it worth it?" Absolutely not. In that moment, it felt like everyone was watching my worst moment and deciding who I was going to be. For a lot of young people, that moment becomes the label that follows them forever. But it doesn't have to. Today, I walked into that same facility as Chief of Project Management and Initiatives—working to improve outcomes for young people who are where I once was. That is what full circle looks like. Thank you Pontiac Youth Assistance for creating turning points before the system becomes the story. Your work matters because you reach young people before a bad moment becomes a lifelong identity. #FullCircle #SecondChances #YouthAssistance #JuvenileJustice #EducationalEquity #BlackMaleSuccess #TransformationStory #Pontiac #PipelineBreakers #PolicyInAction #Leadership

Robert E. Johnson liked thisProud to see my friend and mentor, Shawna Cooper Whitehead, EdD named President of Regis University. She’s a real one. A leader with a heart to serve; thoughtful, decisive, kind, and forward-thinking. More importantly, she’s a force multiplier. The kind of person who makes everyone around her better. Years ago, she took a chance on me, and I’ve never forgotten that. Regis just got better. Congratulations, President Cooper-Whitehead. Grateful for you!Robert E. Johnson liked this🎉 Introducing Dr. Shawna Cooper Whitehead — the 29th president and first female president in Regis University's nearly 150-year history. Dr. Cooper Whitehead joins us from Boston College, where she served as vice president of student affairs, bringing more than two decades of Catholic higher education leadership to our Jesuit community in Denver. Her path — from Loyola Chicago to Seton Hall to MIT to Boston College — has been guided by a single, consistent question: How can I help more people? That spirit of service, accompaniment, and deep Jesuit mission is exactly what she's bringing to Northwest Denver. As a leader, Dr. Cooper Whitehead is committed to building genuine community — for students across backgrounds and experiences, for our neighbors in Denver and for the Hispanic and Latino communities we are honored to serve as a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution. She has a vision for Regis that honors our heritage while boldly stepping into the next 150 years. She officially joins us on July 1, and we couldn't be more ready. To our Denver community and future partners: she wants to hear from you. Regis is open, and so is she. "That's what makes the world a little bit smaller. It makes the world a little kinder." - Dr. Shawna Cooper Whitehead Welcome home, Dr. Cooper Whitehead. 💙❤️ A special thank you to André E. and Denver Catholic for sitting down with Dr. Cooper Whitehead and sharing her story with our broader Catholic community. We're grateful for your partnership in telling the Regis story. 🔗 Read the full feature: https://lnkd.in/gTmJfA2B Archdiocese of Denver #RegisUniversity #JesuitEducation #NewPresident #HigherEd #CatholicEducation #Denver #MissionDriven #HSI

Robert E. Johnson liked thisRobert E. Johnson liked thisThe real value of a conference doesn’t show up during the conference. It shows up after everyone goes home. And I’ll say this, I love seeing the after-conference buzz on LinkedIn. The photos, the reflections, the excitement about reconnecting with colleagues and sharing ideas. Conferences like NASPA remind us why we chose this work in the first place. But the real impact often comes later in what we do with the relationships that begin there. Many of us spent the week exchanging contacts on Blinq, trading business cards, and connecting via text. Those moments matter. They’re the beginning of something new or rekindling of something old. But a connection sitting in your phone isn’t really a network. A network is a set of living relationships built over time through follow-ups, conversations, and the simple act of staying in touch. During one conversation after the Black Men’s Summit session, an early-career professional asked me, “How do you actually move forward in this field?” Part of the answer is simple: relationships matter. Mentors matter. Colleagues matter. Community matters. Because conferences create introductions. Follow-up creates community. 🚨 So here’s a simple challenge: tag one person in the comments you connected with at NASPA that you want to follow up with. What are you waiting for, start right here! NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education NASPA Region II LinkedIn #highereducation #highered #success #career #leadership #NASPA2026 #StudentAffairs And in keeping with proper LinkedIn post conference protocol… I had to include a few photos from the week. 😀

Miami Dade College is setting a benchmark for how community colleges can lead the charge in building an AI-ready workforce, moving far beyond just tech majors. Today's article at The Hechinger Report showcases how MDC’s innovative AI certificate and degree programs, supported by industry leaders like Intel Corporation, Amazon Web Services (AWS), OpenAI and Google, are designed to be accessed by learners from any background and at any stage of their careers. What stands out is MDC’s real-world, project-based learning model: students collaborate directly with local employers on AI solutions that have tangible business impact. More importantly, these programs equip working professionals—including those pivoting to new roles—with the practical skills and technical confidence needed to deploy AI in their fields. Complemented by AI centers across campuses, trained faculty, and strong partnerships, MDC is reinforcing South Florida as a hub for applied-AI talent development. Thank you to Ariel Gilreath for highlighting MDC’s pioneering work in AI workforce development. Your reporting brings much‑needed attention to community colleges as pivotal players in building our AI-ready future. https://lnkd.in/gWFXNUNa Christian Vivas, Pedro A Santos Acosta DBA, Terri-Ann Brown, Ken Finneran, Vicky Ann Cheung, Shalin Jyotishi, Cynthia Pereda, Eduardo Salcedo

Fellow Bluegrass Educators, We’re excited to share that with the addition of ClearMath Elementary, Carnegie Learning is now fully listed as a High-Quality Instructional Resource (HQIR) for K–12 Mathematics in Kentucky, with all-green EdReports ratings and approval from the Kentucky Department of Education. https://lnkd.in/eE7di3Az This recognition reflects the intentional design of Carnegie Learning’s mathematics solutions: grounded in research, focused on problem-based instruction, and built to support strong instructional practice for teachers while deepening student understanding. Just as important, it honors the incredible work happening across Kentucky, where districts are leveraging HQIR not simply as materials, but as the foundation for high-quality teaching and learning. As a Kentuckian, I’m especially proud of the role Carnegie Learning can play in this work in partnering with districts to move beyond adoption and into implementation. By pairing high-quality instructional materials with aligned professional learning, coaching, and ongoing instructional support, Carnegie Learning helps ensure that HQIR truly becomes the vehicle for consistent, effective mathematics instruction and meaningful student gains across the Commonwealth. ATTENTION! Call for Chapters: Management, Governance, and the Evolving Role of Faculty in Higher Education Introduction: Higher education stands at a critical juncture. Traditional models of university governance, once dominated by faculty autonomy and collegial decision-making, are increasingly challenged by demands for accountability, efficiency, and responsiveness to rapidly changing societal needs. The rise of managerialism, the influence of external stakeholders, and the growing emphasis on metrics and outcomes have fundamentally altered the landscape in which faculty operate. The implications of these changes extend far beyond administrative restructuring. They touch the core of what it means to be an academic professional in the 21st century. How do faculty members maintain their scholarly integrity while meeting institutional demands for productivity and relevance? How do universities balance the need for strategic direction with the principles of academic freedom and collegial governance? What new competencies and perspectives must faculty develop to thrive in this evolving landscape? This book examines these critical questions through multiple lenses, drawing on empirical research, institutional case studies, and the lived experiences of faculty across diverse higher education contexts. We explore how the changing dynamics of university management and governance are reshaping faculty roles, relationships, and responsibilities. From the pressures of performance measurement to the opportunities presented by interdisciplinary collaboration, from the challenges of technology integration to the demands of community engagement, we investigate how faculty are adapting to and influencing the transformation of higher education.
