We’re entering a new phase in how people find products. More searches start inside LLMs. Fewer people land directly on your site. Which means the visitors who do make it through are more intentional than ever. This raises the bar for landing pages. It also raises the bar for the tools teams use to evaluate them. AI landing page analyzers are interesting, but our test shows they aren’t yet built for the level of nuance this new environment requires. Misread elements. Generic recommendations. No understanding of funnel stage or visitor awareness. Today I facilitated a roundtable discussion with Anton Osika , CEO of Lovable , along with several other members of f.ounders club at Web Summit. The biggest takeaway was simple: there is no playbook. Everyone is trying to figure out how to embed AI and agentic workflows into both their products and their internal operations. Not as a “feature,” but as a new way of working. The founders who are moving fastest aren’t waiting for perfect strategy documents or long-term roadmaps. They are: • Experimenting rapidly • Creating internal champions who push change from within • Testing, iterating, and seeing what actually drives impact on a KPI This phase of AI adoption is less about theory and more about execution. It’s about learning in real time and allowing the organization to evolve through doing. Grateful for the conversation and energized by the pace of what’s coming next. #ai #websummit #agentic

Brian Balfour shared a blueprint for understanding the scale of change ahead. Here's the M&A POV for the AI column: Development Methodology: Acquirers don't care much about your new revolutionary process. They care if your team has a constant framework for automation and AI. Tools: AI infrastructure companies are the real strategic targets. AI apps and basic tools, not so much. Monetization Models: Traditional "6x recurring revenue" multiples become irrelevant in AI deals. AI companies get acquired for their potential to unlock value in the acquirer's ecosystem. Growth Models: AI companies don't follow traditional growth playbooks. The uncertainty creates arbitrage opportunities for strategic buyers. Measures of Success: The metrics are undefined because AI value creation is still emerging. This benefits companies that can "craft a narrative" around strategic value. Defensibility: Acquirers want to buy before defensibility gets established and prices go up. Build strategic relationships as early as possible to be on their radar. Skillsets & Roles: Companies are buying teams that "can handle the next generation" of AI. The talent scarcity makes these acquisitions strategic necessities. Team & Org Design: AI companies should be molded to fit the acquirer's vision. This flexibility commands strategic premiums from buyers. The current undefined nature of AI creates strategic value that can't be benchmarked against traditional multiples. A lot of studios are popping up to focus on “unsexy businesses.” For example, Dan Magnuszewski is building Radial Ventures in Buffalo, and one of the smartest things they’re doing is leaning into overlooked industries most tech hubs ignore. Think logistics, compliance, insurance ops, field labor workflows. “How many people still do this this way?” is often the billion-dollar question. Dan’s team looks for companies where growth is constrained by labor, training, or process, and asks: Can AI fix that? It’s a tactical lens more studios should be applying, especially in cities where local advantage = legacy industry.

I watched Suffolk’s Boost Demo Day and left absolutely impressed at what the Suffolk Tech Team is doing vs most other VCs/Accelerator Programs. I occasionally write about the craziness of the VC world. VCs like to talk a big game about “adding value”, without much to show for it. Suffolk’s Boost program is clearly the opposite. And it’s not that every company is going to wildly succeed. Some of the companies that go through the Boost program never end up getting anywhere, but that’s the reality of running a business. Their success rate isn’t the point. The learnings, connections, and tangible industry experience are invaluable for construction tech founders starting from scratch. So what do they get right? - They give real access to customers and networks (not just intros) - Provide lots of education for outsiders entering construction - Showcase all their companies at their demo day And they’re not just doing it for their selfish gain. The innovation is for the wider construction community. Suffolk could run Boost purely for the competitive advantage. Instead, they invite other construction companies, create networking opportunities, and share what their companies are building. And it was great to see some of our other clients there at the Boost demo day! This is how you advance an industry. More accelerators/innovation programs should look like Boost. Access to customers, community building, and long-term commitment. That’s actual value-add.
