Michael Loria shared thisWe often talk about work/life balance, but it is also great when work and life collide! I recently started a new role at Brightcove, the leader in video technology platforms. I am also a musician and like many have spent the last few months watching my calendar of gigs get cancelled. But a new model of streaming performances is emerging. We just announced we will be powering the video delivery of the Dropkick Murphy's from Fenway! So my worlds are colliding! https://lnkd.in/eqe-scG

Michael Loria liked thisMichael Loria liked thisI ❤️ RSA. Even after all these years. Say what you want about the chaos, the booths, the bacchanalia of it all... #RSAC is really about people finding each other. And after a week of it, I'm still convinced those relationships are the most underrated edge in this business. I learned this at IBM. Alive for 114 years... not by luck... because tech constantly cycles, but business relationships compound. Which brings me to something I've been thinking about all week at the show. Every booth, pitch, handout under my hotel door had AI. And honestly... so many of these products look the same. Which means we've arrived somewhere important in security. "When AI can build anything, the real advantages are the ones AI can't." → The CISO who calls you first. → The reputation you didn't build with a prompt. → The founder who's been in the breach, not just near it. → The brand buyers trust not b/c of a sign, b/c you earned it. That's why I'm fired up as a VC right now. AI changes who can build, how fast, and at what cost. The product gap is closing for everyone. Which means superstar founders and teams who can out-human the competition... not just out-code them... are about to have their moment. See you next year. 👊 Daniel Ingevaldson Jerry Perullo Chuck Adkins David Cowart Jeff Horne Travis Farral Marc van Zadelhoff Caleb Barlow Caleb Sima Meny Har Chris Pierson Chris Schueler David Moulton Sridhar Muppidi Guy Shanny Rosa Bolger Cory Dunton Adon Mallory Shreyas Sadalgi Thomas Donnelly Michael Rowinski George Mina George Eapen

And also a chance to show off wedding pictures! But more importantly: I’m stepping into my next chapter and exploring opportunities across full-cycle AE, Customer Success, and Account Management roles where I can drive real revenue and customer impact. Here’s the thing: I haven’t just been “booking meetings.” Over the last year, I’ve spent my time: - Building pipeline from scratch and staying close to the revenue - Supporting and influencing deals — not just handing them off - Focusing on what actually converts: messaging, timing, discovery, and deal progression - Thinking beyond the sale — how to create long-term value for customers Because of that, I’ve developed a strong understanding of: → How to move opportunities forward → Where deals get stuck (and how to unblock them) → What separates pipeline that looks good… from pipeline that actually closes → How relationships and trust impact both conversion and retention I’m a builder at heart — I thrive in early-stage or high-growth environments where I can: - Create pipeline - Own conversations - Build lasting customer relationships - And drive real revenue impact I’m especially excited about roles where I can: Own a number, support customers, and play a direct role in growth — whether that’s closing new business or expanding existing accounts. If you’re building something and need someone who: Brings energy Knows how to generate and convert pipeline And understands that revenue doesn’t stop at the sale I’d love to connect. And yes — the guy in the photo is just as positive, driven, and energized as he looks… regardless of what’s going on.

Michael Loria reacted on thisMichael Loria reacted on thisAbout six months ago, I did something I hadn't done in decades: I completely stepped off the operating treadmill. After years in the cybersecurity trenches, the relentless drumbeat of growth targets, board dynamics, and daily fires was basically the only speed I knew. I finally gave myself something that had been in seriously short supply: space. That space took me to a few places that naturally force you to zoom out: 🚴♂️ Pushing my Specialized S-Works up some incredibly steep hills in Italy (and earning the Barolo afterward). 🏔️ Exploring Patagonia with lifelong friends and trekking the Perito Moreno Glacier. 🇮🇳 Experiencing the Golden Temple in Amritsar with my wife and our three daughters, visiting the Partition Museum, and learning more about my heritage and roots. It’s funny what a little distance does. When you’re not staring at a dashboard all day, you realize the most valuable thing you walk away with isn’t your title or your capital. It’s pattern recognition. You look at the market and start seeing the exact same movie playing out over and over — the early hiring decisions, the strategic bets, and the leadership blind spots that dictate whether a startup actually scales or quietly stalls. At a certain point, the game changes. I realized I didn’t need to climb every mountain myself. The real joy now is helping other people climb theirs. For the last few months, I’ve been quietly doing exactly that: advising founders, partnering with investors, and getting back in the trenches with teams building the next generation of tech. If you’re an ambitious founder facing a moment where experience and pattern recognition can help, I’d love to connect. What is the biggest inflection point your company is facing right now? Let's discuss it below. #Founders #Cybersecurity #StartupGrowth #Leadership

Michael Loria reacted on thisMichael Loria reacted on thisIn February I officially retired from a long and winding career that began with Mechanical Engineering and took me through Manufacturing, Management Consulting, IT Customers Service, IT Strategy, and IT Digital Transformation. I am grateful for the many friends I made in the various companies and functional areas I was a part of, and for the opportunities and challenges I had along the way. I am also grateful to all the people who were mentors, supporters and yes, critics, because they helped shape my career. Most importantly, I would like to thank all my friends and colleagues at TJX and especially my team there, who helped make the last 16 years so wonderful. I will miss you all.

Michael Loria reacted on thisMichael Loria reacted on thisIt has been nine months since leaving my favorite job, and as I sit at Queenstown airport, one of the most beautiful places in the world, at the end of a three-week vacation—the longest I have ever taken—I noticed something interesting on the flight monitor: the status for some flights was “Relax.” This reflects the cheeky Kiwi culture of the South Island, and it made me realize that this has been my status for part of the last nine months. I waited 34 years to embrace this status. My recommendation is simple: don’t wait that long. Seek out those opportunities more frequently, as they can be invigorating. No laptops. No zoom calls. Just your thoughts, your loved ones, making new connections, and yes, in my case, some vino!

Israeli M&A is running at an unprecedented pace in 2026 and the underlaying reason is really interesting. Wiz and CyberArk both cleared regulatory approval on deals announced last year. That's two megadeals closing on the same day. Beyond the massive headlines, the baseline activity in 2026 caught my attention. The numbers so far (as of Feb 11): → 13 disclosed acquisitions in 42 days → $4.2B of M&A capital → 2.2 deals per week This amounts to $100M of #liquidity returning to investors every day! What other ecosystem provides $100M of liquidity per day on average since the beginning of 2026? If this pace holds, we're looking at ~113 M&As by year-end and close to $37B in disclosed value. This is excluding the just approved megadeals and excluding the unannounced rounds (which probably add $3-20m each). What's driving this? AI is the obvious answer. 10 of 13 deals are AI-centric companies. But I think there's something deeper happening: - Acquirers are paying premium multiples to compress time-to-AI-capability rather than build internally. - Israeli startups are shipping production-level AI, not demos. That's the arbitrage. - Speed > cost in this market cycle. Meanwhile, startup creation is on the rise (we predicted this in our stealth report ~12-months ago). It seems the industry will continue producing sellable companies at an increasing rate. This year is poised to be very interesting 😇

A consistent theme that arose from Day 1 of the Level Zero OT Cyber Security Conference is how important it is for ICS/OT leaders to have a peer group like that which has been brought together by CS2AI Global - Control System Cyber Security Association International and Derek Harp for this conference. Tom Fanning, the former CEO of Southern Companies, said something that has echoed throughout the day through each speaker: "IT/OT leaders need to work together and collaborate, now more than ever, because the number of threats to critical infrastructure is exploding in volume." Share knowledge, collaborate, problem solve---together. Sound advice and a consistent theme of Level Zero. #ics #levelzeroconference #OTcybersecurity

I had a great conversation with Ben April, CTO at Maltego Technologies, on the Human Element podcast. We discussed: • Implementing a "slow down" methodology during cybersecurity crises that counterintuitively leads to better outcomes by preventing compounding errors that occur during rushed decision-making. • Strategic allocation of dedicated days for technical deep work versus people management to optimize leadership effectiveness without cognitive switching penalties. • Leveraging observational skills traditionally used for threat detection to identify underlying motivations in adversaries and team members alike, creating more effective intervention strategies. ...and more!
