Matt Plank shared thisMy 9 year anniversary with Rippling is coming up in 2 weeks on May 1st. We crossed over $1B ARR earlier this year and somehow it still feels like we're growing as fast as ever, which is definitely not easy and I owe a huge amount of gratitude to many people who have helped scale Rippling to this point. The talent density across all functions is insane. But more than anything, it’s hard to maintain the culture and DNA required to win in this environment when you get to 6k employees. Yet somehow it feels like everyone at Rippling is hungrier than ever, everyone understands the urgency required to stay ahead in today's environment, and the execution across GTM, R&D, and every other function is as strong as ever. Been through a lot of different cycles in tech over the last 9 years but winning teams put their heads down, keep grinding, and just find a way to win. Proud of the team we've built, very thankful for our customers’ trust, and personally hungrier than ever to just keep building.

Matt Plank shared thisVery excited for the Monaco launch. This space is crowded with point solutions that force teams to stitch together brittle integrations creating “source of truth” issues, process bottlenecks, and tech debt that drag on sales productivity and revenue. It’s an ambitious problem to solve, but Sam Blond is one of the best operators I’ve worked with and he’s proven it repeatedly. 14 years ago he hired me as an AE with zero software sales experience, and I followed him to his next company, learning much of what I know about sales along the way. If anyone can take on a challenge this ambitious and win — especially in this space — it’s Sam. Proud investor, and very optimistic about where Monaco will be soon.Matt Plank shared thisWe're launching Monaco today. Monaco automates customer acquisition and revenue growth for startups. The platform disrupting sales with AI has finally arrived.

Matt Plank shared thisExcited to spend some time with Shobhit Mohan tomorrow while visiting our Rippling team out in Bangalore! We’ll be talking about scaling GTM teams from the early days and a bunch of things I learned along the way!Matt Plank shared thisMost revenue advice sounds good on slides. Very little of it survives real scale. This session is different. Matt Plank, CRO at Rippling, has built and scaled a $570M+ revenue engine across early traction, breakout growth, and true scale. Different stages. Different bets. Different GTM realities. GrowthX is hosting a fireside chat with Matt on all things revenue. The session will be moderated by Shobhit Mohan (ex-PayU, Razorpay). If you care about revenue beyond playbooks, this one’s worth your time. RSVP link in comments 👇

Matt Plank reposted thisMatt Plank reposted thisI have an open spot on my leadership team leading all non-tech hiring globally for Rippling. This is a big job, leading a team of 50+ recruiters in US, India and EMEA, driving more than 2,000 hires per year. And it reports to the coolest, most humble TA leader on the planet: me. Seeking someone with similar experience that is located in SF, NYC or Austin, but open to remote, potentially. If qualified and interested, or if you know someone that would be that I should connect with, please ping me direct. https://lnkd.in/eVEyVdg5

Matt Plank posted thisSo many times companies have to choose between a "best-of-breed" stand alone solution that checks all the functionality boxes they need, or a "built-in" solution that's integrated to a platform with the same common UX patterns, but lacks robust functionally and doesn't check the same feature / functionality boxes as their best-of-breed competitors. At Rippling, we always strive to launch natively built products that are deeply integrated and greatly benefit from our platform approach, while also checking the boxes and competing against their stand alone best-of-breed comparisons. Rippling Recruiting nails this strategy by offering an ATS that's built into Rippling and deeply integrated, while standing up to industry leaders like Greenhouse in terms of functionality. Super excited about this launch and the feedback from customers over the past several months has been incredible. Well done to the product team on this launch 👏

Matt Plank posted thisHad a lot of fun talking with Sam Blond for the SaaStr CRO Confidential Podcast a couple weeks back. I've been incredibly lucky in my career to work with Parker Conrad 2x now, who I think is the best founder / CEO in the game without question. He's always had a huge vision for Rippling since the day I joined 5.5 years ago, but like every other start up, it was humble beginnings trying to find those first several customers. Sam and I talked about how to get off the starting block as a VP Sales at an early stage company, diversifying your revenue mix, and some other fun stuff (link in comments).

Outside of work, I have two young kids and love getting outdoors whenever I can."

Matt Plank liked thisMatt Plank liked thisHow do you think about AI Credits vs. Headcount Costs? AI makes everyone more efficient, which is great. But if you are adding incremental costs you better be getting something out of it. Whether through fewer heads or higher output, each AI tool needs to move the needle. Our team at Redo is able to manage over 250 employees with a single People Ops head thanks to AI tools like Rippling. Their new AI integrates directly with the HR data in the app, and opens up HR/People data access to other teams (like Finance) without administrative burden. That's a leaner team producing cleaner reporting and a better employee experience than was possible in the past. AI tools need to raise the bar, or get off the P&L.

Matt Plank liked thisMatt Plank liked this5 AI prompts to stay on top of payroll — right inside Rippling. 💸 1. Payroll burn rate and headcount trends "What is our current monthly payroll burn rate and headcount, and how has each trended over the past 6 months?" 2. Full workforce cost picture over 90 days "Generate a workforce cost analysis using our payroll data for the last 90 days, including payroll runs and health carrier costs." 3. Zero net-pay anomalies before a run goes out "Is anyone receiving zero net pay on today's check date?" 4. Hourly workers with unusual hour patterns "Flag any hourly team members whose total hours in the current payroll period deviate more than 20% from their typical amount." 5. Cash flow forecast across every entity "Give me a cash flow forecast of everything being withdrawn via Rippling — payroll, reimbursements, bill pay, and card payments — split by entity."

Matt Plank liked thisMatt Plank liked thisI have been using Rippling AI and have watched the value play out in real-time. I want to share one specific use case: a payroll forecasting exercise (screenshots for illustration attached with data redacted for privacy). Normally, this would mean: - Pulling multiple payroll reports from each system - Combining data across countries - Reconciling formats and currencies - Building a clean dataset for analysis Instead, I used a single prompt. Within seconds, Rippling AI generated: ✅ A year-to-date payroll view across multiple countries ✅ Detailed payroll components (gross, taxes, benefits, reimbursements) ✅ Key observations I would typically surface manually ✅ A clean spreadsheet ready for analysis What stood out most wasn’t just the speed; it was the structure of the output. The AI didn’t just give raw data; it organized it in a way that was immediately usable for forecasting and decision-making. For anyone in HR, Finance, or Operations who regularly stitches together data to answer questions or conduct analysis - this is where AI starts to change the game. It’s not about replacing expertise. It’s about removing the friction that slows it down. I am curious how others are incorporating AI into payroll, reporting, or forecasting workflows: what’s working for you, what are you learning, what are you loving, what would you change? P.S. I am fully prepared to catch a hard time for using "please" in my AI prompt - I can't help it, politeness is ingrained 🤣 #HRTech #Payroll #AI #PeopleOps #Rippling #FutureOfWork

Matt Plank liked thisMatt Plank liked thisJust landed back from Presidents Club in Tulum 🏝️✨ and my heart is SO full. Moments like these give you space to pause, look around, and just feel the momentum — and honestly? I couldn't be more proud of what we're building together at Rippling. Specifically what I love is; I watch people grow faster here than anywhere else I've seen in this industry. Not by accident — but because the environment demands it. I tell every candidate the same thing: the job you'll want in 2-5 years probably doesn't exist yet. I've seen it happen firsthand, over and over again. 🚀 Just last quarter in Enterprise alone: ✅ 6 AEs promoted from MM, Global & PEO into Enterprise ✅ 2 AEs promoted to Strategic ✅ 7 Senior AE promotions ✅ 2 leader promotions + 1 leader to Director That's not a fluke. That's what happens when you put the right people in a high-standards, high-complexity environment and trust them to rise. Meanwhile — the company grew 78% YoY and recently crossed $1B in revenue. 🎉 I always come back to this: "Pressure is a Privilege." That's Rippling. Parker Conrad is building the defining workforce platform of this generation — HR, IT, and Finance, unified globally, AI-native. We're not chasing a category. We're creating one. And the TAM? Any business with an employee. 👀 The product roadmap is wild and we are just getting started. I don't say this lightly — April was the biggest single month of new business in Rippling's history. 🎉 After back-to-back record quarters, the momentum didn't just continue — it grew. Maybe 15-20 companies in the entire world, public or private, generating this level of new business. It's a special thing to be a part of. If this sounds like you, I am currently looking for rockstars; Enterprise Account Executive (East) - https://lnkd.in/e_6dwphv Enterprise Account Executive (Central) - https://lnkd.in/eAmQqhyW Enterprise Account Executive (West)- https://lnkd.in/eZY_-P4m Private Equity - https://lnkd.in/enet9sHD And come work with the best in the business; Phil Coria, Kevin Cote, Ryan Kaiser, Jason Isaacson, Katie Baudler, Katy Clark, Colin Wilson, Nick Townsend, Michael Isaacson, Alex Uhre, Jeffrey Folaron. I build new sales motions for enterprise software categories before the market names them.<br> <br>At AWS, I launched Agentic AI for ERP in May 2025 — a new go-to-market motion bringing generative AI agents into the enterprise back office. The motion now spans Fortune 2000 customers across retail, manufacturing, consumer goods, and other SAP-heavy verticals. I founded and lead the customer Special Interest Group for the program, authored 40+ industry-specific playbooks using AI-assisted prompt architecture I designed, and present to F2000 CFOs, CIOs, and COOs on how agentic AI transforms the mechanics of finance, procurement, supply chain, and master data operations.<br> <br>The path that led here was 20+ years selling mission-critical software to Fortune 2000 enterprises. Sixteen years at SAP, including managing ExxonMobil as one of SAP's top five global accounts and a $165M five-year enterprise agreement. Three VP of Sales roles at Utegration, SEW, and GridX, where I built or rebuilt sales motions from the ground up. AWS Quarterly All-Star in Q4 2025 and Q3 2023 in a 200+ seller organization. 270% of 2024 quota.<br> <br>What I care about now is the chapter that comes next for AI in the enterprise back office: agents that interview business process owners and generate process agents from those interviews, AI that reads legacy ERP business logic and proposes modernization paths, AI-accelerated migration from non-SAP to modern ERP on the functional side rather than just the technical side. These are hard problems that a CFO cares about. The AI companies with the right product, the right partner bench, and the right thesis to solve them are the ones I want to build with.<br> <br>BS Electrical Engineering, University of Missouri-Rolla. The True Cost of “Just One More Rep” Most organizations underestimate the real cost of a sales hire. Fully loaded, a mid-market or enterprise rep often costs $225K–$300K per year, once you include compensation, benefits, tools, enablement, and management overhead. For a single additional sales rep!!! Add 6–9 months of ramp time, performance variability, and attrition risk, and year-one productivity is rarely optimal. Now compare that to a productive partner who already has: 👉 Customer relationships 👉 Buyer context 👉 Sales capacity you don’t pay for The economics are fundamentally different.

IT Horror Stories

Gong records every sales call. Every demo. Every negotiation. Every pricing conversation. Three years of competitive intelligence in one platform. User provisioning is manual. I asked about SCIM. "Contact Sales." No pricing on the website. No self-serve option. Just a calendar link and a 45-minute discovery call. The call was illuminating. Platform fee: $5,000-$50,000 depending on "needs." Plus per-seat pricing. Plus usage considerations. I asked for a specific number. They asked for our budget first. I'm still managing access manually. 161 IT hours per year. Adding reps. Removing reps. When someone tells me. A sales rep left for a competitor in October. Three years of recorded calls. Every conversation with every prospect. Pricing discussions. Competitor mentions. Objection handling. The entire playbook. I revoked access in November. When someone finally mentioned it. One month. 30 days of access to everything he'd ever recorded. Downloadable. Shareable. Exportable. I don't know what he took. Legal doesn't know what he took. We just know he had the access. Sales teams turn over at 25-35% annually. When a rep leaves for a competitor, they need one day. Gong gave him 30. This is the sales stack paradox: The tools with the most sensitive data—recordings, customer lists, pricing—have the least automation. "Contact Sales" isn't a pricing tier. It's a negotiating position. Your security posture is their leverage.

I’ve reviewed 100s of discovery calls. The #1 difference between AEs converting 40% and AEs converting 70%+ of first calls is the number of problems discussed. And the top reps discuss fewer. Reps that don’t convert go wide, trying to find anything and everything to tie their product to. They think: “The more problems I find, the better chance I have of solving some of them.” Reps that convert go deep into the most important problems uncovered. They think: “I need to attach to a problem worth solving.” I built a discovery capture sheet that will help “guide” your conversations to go deep, instead of wide. You can get it here in this blog post (ungated and no cost - just make a copy): https://lnkd.in/gCaUJ4ZD

🚀 From Lessons to Leadership: The Next Era of Sales Compensation Starts Now In 2025, sales comp teams learned to be agile, data-driven, and seller-centric. But 2026 demands a bigger leap from executing plans to shaping strategy. The future belongs to compensation leaders who don’t just administer payouts, but who steer revenue behavior, predict performance, and build trust at scale. Here’s the shift happening now 👇 ✅ From reactive reporting → predictive incentive intelligence ✅ From quota disputes → transparent pay and trust-building ✅ From plan design in silos → cross-functional revenue councils ✅ From mechanical comp plans → behavior-shaping engines ✅ From complexity → clarity and seller empowerment High-performing orgs are already: ✨ Using AI to model scenarios before rollouts ✨ Rewarding profitable + predictable growth (not just volume) ✨ Giving sellers dashboards, playbooks, and transparency ✨ Listening to the field and iterating in-year ✨ Training managers and comp teams like strategic athletes In 2026, the question isn’t: “Did your plan pay accurately?” It’s: “Did your compensation strategy create predictable, profitable revenue and motivated sellers?” Sales compensation is no longer a back-office function. It’s a strategic growth engine. And the leaders who embrace this shift will shape the future of GTM performance. 💡 The era of Strategic Sales Compensation Leadership has begun. Most SDRs don’t lose deals on the first message. They lose them because they stop too early. One touch gets ignored. Multiple meaningful touches create momentum. That’s where tools like Apollo and Smartlead make a difference. Use Apollo to build structured multi-step sequences. Use Smartlead to automate follow-ups and scale outreach across channels. Because in outbound: Consistency beats creativity. Focus on: • 5–7 touchpoints per prospect • Mix of email and LinkedIn • 2–3 day spacing between touches But here’s what most people get wrong: They repeat the same message. One simple shift: Don’t just follow up. Add new value in every touch. New angle. New insight. New reason to reply. That’s how follow-ups turn into meetings. Save this before your next outreach campaign. 🚀 #SaaSSales #B2BSales #SDR #FollowUp #OutboundSales #Apollo #Smartlead #TechSales #HireForSkillz #B2CtoB2B #SalesStrategy

We asked 40+ RevOps leaders a simple question: "What's your team's average quota attainment?" The answers ranged from 72% to 91%, then we asked a follow-up: "What did you model when you built your revenue plan?" Almost every single one said 100%. That gap, the one between assumed attainment and actual attainment, is the most expensive math error in B2B sales. This isn't a motivation problem, or a pipeline problem, and it’s definitely not a rep quality problem. The problem is your planning assumptions that were wrong before Q1 even started. Here's what that loss looks like at scale: If you're planning $20M on 100% attainment and your actual is 78%, you've missed by $4.4M, not 22%. The hard part is that the miss was locked in before a single rep made a call this year.

Your renewals aren’t unique. Every CS leader has heard the same churn reasons before: “Budget got cut” “Our champion left” “Priorities shifted” (just look at the chat responses from our program today on Understanding Renewal/Expansion Process and Overcoming Potential Obstacles) But here’s the hard truth: those aren’t the real reasons. At the core, customers don’t renew for one simple reason → they don’t see ROI. Even the “budget” excuse is really about value. There’s always budget for something, just not your tool. When new leadership comes in, they still might renew if your team educated them on the value. So, what can you do about it? 1. Define and align on value Not what you think the ROI is, what your customer would define as ROI. Every customer measures value differently: one might care about productivity gains, another about reducing costs. If you don’t align early and check-in quarterly on success metrics, you risk measuring “adoption,” while they’re measuring “revenue impact.” That gap kills renewals. 2. Multi-thread your relationships A champion is great, but they’re often not the budget holder. If they leave, you’re exposed. *Map the org: who controls the budget, who influences strategy, who owns execution? For example, if you only know the Director of Ops, but the CFO doesn’t know you exist, your renewal is fragile. Multi-threading builds resilience. 3. Address risks early If you sense a problem, there probably is one. Don’t wait until QBRs to proactively surface concerns and offer a solution. If usage is dipping or sentiment shifts, flag it, escalate it, and involve your exec team early. A VP reaching out to their peer can turn a “churn risk” into a revitalized account. Silence, on the other hand, is often interpreted as indifference. 4. Secure executive alignment If your only line into the account is your MPOC, you’re vulnerable. Executive alignment creates air cover: it opens peer-to-peer conversations, gives you a path back in if things stall, and ensures the people holding the purse strings know the value you provide. Think of it as insurance - when deals get tough, those exec-to-exec connections can be the deciding factor. So the next time you hear “budget” or “turnover” as a churn reason, know this: The client just didn’t see enough value to fight for you. Retention = ROI. Period.

If your solution is to hire more SDRs, PAUSE! More headcount does not fix inefficient prospecting. It amplifies wasted OPEX. The fastest way to improve revenue performance is to: 1. Clarify ICP precision 2. Eliminate low intent targeting 3. Optimize outreach sequencing 4. Audit conversion gaps Recovering 30 to 40% of wasted sales spend is often possible without increasing budget. Are you optimizing activity or optimizing efficiency? Let’s discuss. 👉https://expertstoneai.com/ #SalesStrategy #B2BGrowth #RevenueAcceleration #SalesAudit #OPEXOptimization #LeadGeneration #BusinessEfficiency #PipelineGrowth #SalesOps #GuideStoneAIGroup

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐃𝐑𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 Most SDR conversations fail for one reason. They are optimized to push, not to understand. When reps lead with scripts, pitches, and premature value props, they miss the most important signal in the room. Buyer intent. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 Clearer problem definition. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 High-performing SDRs do not aim to impress. They aim to learn. They ask fewer questions, pause longer, and let buyers fill the silence. The #1 reason your outbound team isn’t scaling? It’s not your SDRs. It’s how you manage them. ❌ More tech won’t fix a broken SDR team. ❌ More headcount won’t either. ✅ Better management will. If you want pipeline that compounds, you need SDR managers who know how to: ➡️ Coach consistently ➡️ Build repeatable processes ➡️ Set meaningful metrics ➡️ Balance activity with outcomes We unpacked where most companies go wrong, and how to fix it: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gwFVPNV9 Worth a read if you own a pipeline target. #SalesLeadership #B2BSales #OutboundSales #SDR #PipelineGrowth #SalesManagement #RevenueLeadership #SalesCoaching #GoToMarket #SaaS

AEs are trained to run better discovery. Go deeper. Uncover pain. Map stakeholders. Document everything. And when you do all of that well, the call feels productive. You learned a lot. The buyer shared openly. The conversation flowed. But the best discovery calls don’t just gather information. They change how the buyer sees their situation. Not by skipping fundamentals. By connecting them. Pain gets quantified in real terms. Stakeholders get tied to actual risk. Priorities get compared against what’s at stake. Next steps become a consequence — not a suggestion. That’s when something shifts. The problem feels more real. The cost of inaction becomes clearer. The path forward starts to take shape. That’s what moves deals. Not just asking better questions. But helping the buyer leave with a clearer point of view than when they walked in. #B2BSales #SalesLeadership #RevenueOperations #SalesExecution #SalesStrategy #SalesCaddyAI

🚀 Onboarding isn’t just a program — it’s a productivity engine. The central challenge for any GTM onboarding team is simple to state but hard to nail: get new hires to full productivity and quota attainment fast. At Gong, we’ve been rethinking what it truly takes to make that happen. I sat down with Danica Schutt and Max Costello White from our GTM Onboarding team to unpack how we’ve structured our onboarding program to do exactly that. From flipped classrooms to AI-driven coaching and deep integration across RevOps, this team has built a machine that’s helping over 70% of new hires hit productivity targets faster than ever. If you’re building or refining your onboarding program, this is a conversation worth reading. https://lnkd.in/gWu_Qsdj

Your SDRs move slow. Your market doesn’t. In 2025, sales teams win with agility. Markets shift. GTM strategies evolve. New products launch overnight. And if your SDR team can’t keep up, your pipeline’s at risk. Bad news: Most internal teams aren’t built to move that fast. Good news: Outsourced SDRs are. Here’s why they’re built for the modern sales org: 🔄 Pivot to new ICPs without missing a beat 🚀 Launch-ready teams, no hand-holding required 📊 Real-time reporting to optimize on the fly 🎯 Performance-based models (not just warm bodies in seats) The future of SDRs isn’t in-house—it’s on-demand. Want to pick the right agency to keep your pipeline fast, flexible, and future-proof? We’ve got the guide for you 👇
