How can you build a culture of continuous improvement during a team change?
Understanding the contextual landscape is critical prior to any work focused on creating options for managing change. Based on a client’s unique situation, I recommend data gathering through qualitative means. I’m then able to probe to gain a deep understanding of not only what’s perceived by vested parties, but also to uncover what might not be obvious or understood. I often leverage the Immunity to Change work of Lisa Lahey and Robert Kegan, to uncover deep-rooted assumptions and conflicting commitments that could get in the way of stated goals. It’s fascinating and worth the time and effort to lay the foundation as a starting point for any change effort.
