Jon Malkemus 🥛 reposted thisJon Malkemus 🥛 reposted thisSesame is available in preview on iOS starting today. We spent the last year dialing in the details - conversation flow, response time, personality, new tools like web search, and an app experience that beautifully weaves it all together. We're on a mission to bring out more curiosity and creativity in us all. This preview is only the beginning. You can read more about it here: https://lnkd.in/g7mNc6gs Congratulations to the entire Sesame team on this milestone. Excited for what's next.

Jon Malkemus 🥛 posted thisAI and Product Design At Whatnot, a few designers started experimenting with tools like Cursor, Claude, and Figma. We asked them to share their workflows with the rest of the product design team—and within weeks, it completely changed how we work. In less than three weeks, we've turned every designer into a world class prototyper. They're building advanced, high-quality prototypes that previously required specialized tools like ProtoPie or Framer—or even production-level code. Now, they can create them in just a few hours instead of weeks. This has been one of the most significant and disruptive workflow shifts I’ve seen in over 20 years in design. It’s an exciting time to be building products.

Jon Malkemus 🥛 shared thisTom Verrilli, Daniel Bear and myself are hosting an event in NYC on Tuesday, May 12. Tom and DB will be giving a great talk on how we build products, the challenges we’re facing as we scale, and some of the tougher problems we’re working through. If you’re a designer, engineer, or product manager and would like to attend, you can request a spot on our event page. It should be a fun time! https://luma.com/ea1ah6t6

Jon Malkemus 🥛 reposted thisJon Malkemus 🥛 reposted thisWe're hiring a product designer at Sesame. Come design a new kind of computer with us. We're building a human-like personal agent with a personality and interface that people love. That includes both an app and our own hardware. Starting with lightweight, beautifully designed glasses meant to be worn all day. Yes, we're making eyewear. Yes, it needs to look incredible. You’ll work with me and the team from our San Francisco studio—but working from our New York office, Bellevue office, or U.S. remote is a possibility for the right candidate. You'll start on our new app, then quickly move into shaping core experiences across the glasses (alongside Basheer Tome). You'll collaborate with our industrial and eyewear designers as they iterate on the physical product. You'll help define our brand across every surface: web, apps, eyewear, packaging… all of it. You'll also get close to something rare. Our creative teams are building emotionally intelligent personalities from scratch. The craft happening there will change how you think about design. Our culture is simple. We need to feel it. Low overhead. High bar. If you can prototype it, build it, and make the room go quiet, you'll thrive here. Our interface is intentionally minimal, which means every design decision carries real weight. You'll define the product language end-to-end: voice calls, text conversations, agent capabilities and canvas, how trust is built, how tone is maintained, how speed is felt, how presence is created. This is the kind of work where one screen can take weeks and it's worth it. We launched our Research Preview last year and millions of people have now tried Sesame. We've been heads down improving conversation quality, planning new capabilities, building toward ambient experiences that adapt to your life instead of interrupting it. For decades, we've been building on the graphical interface. Now the frontier is expanding to intelligent agents and hardware that unlocks a new way to interact. We believe eyewear is one of the most natural form factors for this, and we're designing it from the ground up. You'll join a small team of passionate builders, including the founders of Oculus and proven leaders from Apple, Google, Meta and beyond. Read more from Sequoia, who led our last round. https://lnkd.in/gAShpjWS About you You have exceptional visual design skills and love a blank canvas. You've spent years designing and shipping consumer products with real craft. Most importantly, you have strong product instincts. You care about the why as much as the pixels. We're not building another assistant. We need someone attuned to what people actually need and what our technology makes possible. You're a builder. Some might call you a design engineer, but you love owning the full design process. You've built the details of what you've designed—on mobile, on web, in the margins where craft lives. Jon Malkemus 🥛 liked thisJon Malkemus 🥛 liked thisAfter 6.5 years, my time at Meta has come to a close. Following layoffs and a significant reorganization, the scope of my role shifted in ways that made this a natural inflection point. After careful consideration, I decided it was time to move on. The world feels incredibly unsteady right now, and holding onto any certainty is the right call for many. My gut, however, said that holding onto certainty in a way that wasn’t right for me would be disingenuous — and that’s not how I show up. I don’t take for granted that I had a choice in my decision while a lot of incredibly talented people did not. The people I worked alongside at Meta — designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, data scientists, data engineers, design programming, recruiters — were some of the sharpest and most generous I’ve encountered in my career. Many have become near and dear friends. If we worked together… Thank you, immensely. 🙏 What’s next? For the first time in a long time, I’m going to take a breath. I don’t know what next looks like, but I want it to be deliberate. I’ve spent my career at the intersection of design, systems, brand, new technologies and user experience — working on problems that were complex, ambiguous and genuinely meaningful. I plan to keep that streak going. In the meantime, my DMs are open. Coffee chats, design conversations, or just catching up — I’m here for all of it. Chin up, fangs out! 🤘🐍🤘

Jon Malkemus 🥛 reacted on thisJon Malkemus 🥛 reacted on thisWe are hiring internal tools engineers at Sesame - come work with me! https://lnkd.in/eAq2h34S The role is an interesting one (i think!) for two reasons: 1. It lives at this intersection of cloud development, ML development, and internal tools & infrastructure. i spend a lot of time learning and building mental models of these spaces and how they fit together. 2. Sesame is a ~100-person startup - so stuff already exists, but there's still interesting foundational new stuff to build. The role is listed under ML because our mandate is to be a bridge between ML and the folks building the content that get fed into the ML systems. And in that way, i've found it surprisingly similar to building pipelines for videogames - input content goes into a big chunk of tech and an interactive experience comes out the other side. So i'm posting here because i know a lot of you have been involved in entertainment industries like games and film, building pipelines and tooling for those, and i think this is a quite modern variant of the same sort of thing. If you have a strong design sense, if you like building things that help others do creative work, and if you are a good programmer, i'd love to hear from you!

The last few months were packed with production work, new SaaS clients, working on multiple large-scale motion deliverables. So I thought a good way to come back is to share something I personally enjoy watching: viewport breakdowns. This one a video we made this year for Creative Force's child company Dreem — a quick look inside the After Effects setup behind one of the scenes. Layers, rigs, timing, transitions — the unpolished side of the final animation. More projects are on the way, and I’m slowly getting back to sharing more process and insights here. If you’re building a SaaS product and want to bring your UI to life — you know where to find me. #AfterEffects #MotionDesign #2DAnimation #ExplainerVideo #SaaSMarketing #FlashMotion #UIDesign #UIAnimation #DesignProcess #AnimationBreakdown #VideoMarketing #CreativeProcess #Mograph #BrandAnimation #DigitalDesign

High stakes, clear data: Why design matters for ASX-listed companies. When an ASX-listed company speaks to its shareholders, every pixel carries weight. At this level, design isn't about "making things pretty"—it’s about building trust through clarity and precision. At GrafixaPRO, we treat Investor Relations (IR) materials as high-stakes communication tools. When the data is complex, the design must be invisible yet effective. Our approach focuses on: • Visual Hierarchy: Ensuring key financial metrics are the first thing an investor sees. • Technical Clarity: Making complex geological or logistics data accessible without losing its depth. • Institutional Look: Maintaining a rock-solid brand identity that reflects stability and vision. I’ve included a few slides from our Apex Lithium concept to show how we handle financial highlights, technical schemes, and timelines. No gimmicks, just clean execution for the "Lucky Country." Are you preparing for the next reporting season, or is your current deck struggling to tell your data's story clearly? Cheers, Mikhail. #InvestorRelations #ASX #CorporateDesign #GraphicDesign #Australia #Lithium

Sometimes, less really is more . In post-production, simplicity is rarely accidental. Clean visuals, focused pacing, and intentional restraint are often what make complex digital ideas easier to understand. Simplicity isn’t a limitation. It’s a decision. #PostProduction #ContentClarity #ExplainerVideo

Fast studio edits keep your project moving and your creative momentum alive. When edits drag on, your energy dips, deadlines slip, and excitement fades. Quick turnarounds lock in focus, capture fresh ideas, and push your song closer to release-ready every day. At MIX Recording Studio, we've seen artists cut their edit cycles in half by scheduling 24/7 sessions with Grammy-nominated engineers. One rapper went from waiting weeks for mixes to getting them back in under 48 hours. His streams jumped 30% after releasing with that momentum. Why does this matter? Because momentum builds buzz. Every day your project moves forward, you stay top of mind with fans and algorithms. Stalling? That's the fast path to losing traction. Keep your creative flow strong by planning for fast edits: 1. Schedule sessions with studios offering quick turnarounds. 2. Communicate clearly with your engineer about deadlines. 3. Review edits promptly and give feedback without delay. At MIX, our all-in-one content capture and 24/7 access means you never lose a beat. Your music deserves that edge. Let slow edits bury your best work? No way. How do you keep your project momentum going when edits start to slow down? Share your strategies below. #RecordingStudio #LosAngelesRecordingStudio #BookAStudio #VocalBooth #MusicStudio #LAArtists

I’ve added a new way to preview type in ModFont using shader-based previews. You can now see your fonts wrapped onto 3D forms like waves and cylinders, all running in WebGL. The previews are interactive, so you can move around them with your mouse and tweak properties to stress-test how the type behaves in motion and space. It’s a simple thing, but it makes previewing type feel much more dynamic. Still very much evolving, but this has been a direction I’ve enjoyed exploring. #ModFont #Typography #TypeDesign #CreativeCoding #WebGL #BuildInPublic

In our "champagne to street fight" industry it's going to be about the right tool for the job, not fitting the job to the tools you have. It's the ability to seamlessly switch acquisition options but maintain pipeline integrity for your clients. Next week I start looking at another weapon for the locker (or tool in the shed for the gardeners out there ). Really looking forward to putting our foot on this tech to see what it can do. We're happy to be adding a MOVE Genesis system to our House of Moves 4.0 ecosystem. Message me to come check it out!!! Creativity isn't magic... it's feelings, little tweaks, and a lot of heart. 💜 In the first part of his new series "Creating Emotionally Meaningful Experiences with AI, Three.js, and Blender", Andrew Woan shows us how to find meaning in what we make. 🐼 Set aside a little time, it's so worth it: https://lnkd.in/diz3XJbU Check out the amazing demo he created: https://lnkd.in/dHCdGe-Y You can find the GitHub link in the article!

The latest ComfyUI updates will redefine AI video production. App Mode and ComfyHub finally solve a problem creative teams have faced for years: sharing complex workflows. Workflows that once required navigating node graphs or installing multiple tools can now be packaged into clean interfaces and shared with a simple URL. → The problem was not capability. → The problem was accessibility and control. ComfyUI now allows teams to distribute their production pipelines safely and reliably. → No setup hassles. → No exposure of sensitive data. → No fragmented outputs. This is why it's becoming the new standard for AI video production. → Netflix is testing it. → Hollywood studios are experimenting with it for film production. → Advertising agencies are building major campaigns with it. ComfyUI is on track to become the Photoshop and Adobe Suite for anyone producing AI videos. We predicted it. Now it's actually happening. Once adoption spreads, the real challenge for teams shifts from generating visuals to: • How to standardize and control workflows • How to ensure data safety and reproducibility • How to scale internal production pipelines without friction Generating AI visuals is easy. Delivering them consistently at scale is hard. The competitive advantage will not be ComfyUI itself. It will be the systems and pipelines built around it. P.S. If your team wants to internalize AI video production with scalable, controlled workflows, see how the A.C.E. Internalization System works → https://lnkd.in/eHXZ7G-D

High-end product launches often demand massive VFX budgets to create a "wow" factor that captures attention. I explored how much of that cinematic impact could be directed through a meticulously structured AI prompt. This entire smartwatch commercial was storyboarded and executed with a single JSON file. I was able to define the full narrative sequence: 1. The Object: A faceted, crystal-like sphere with a mysterious glow. 2. The Event: A high-energy explosion, with the camera flying through the debris. 3. The Formation: The fragments coalesce into a swirling vortex of energy. 4. The Product: The smartwatch emerges from the vortex for its final hero shot. This process moves beyond simple generation into the realm of precise, intentional digital filmmaking, streamlining the production pipeline for complex visual concepts. I’ve shared the full technical "script" in the link on my profile. What are the implications of this for brand storytelling and product launches? #ProductLaunch #BrandStorytelling #CreativeTechnology #DigitalMarketing #AIVideoGeneration

Friday's slot machine post had some sharp comments. One question kept coming back: what are we paying AI to do in the first place? We're using AI to make design decisions when we should be using it for actual heavy lifting. Deciding if a button is 24px or 16px is the designer's job. Generating alt text for every image in the file is what AI is actually for. Here's an idea: a real-time prompt cost prediction before sending. This would slowly teach designers when to use AI and when to just do the thing yourself. AI needs guardrails. Turns out the humans prompting it need some too.

The "Fractional Executive" is becoming the secret weapon for scaling studios. Not every studio needs a full-time, high-cost C-suite member from day one, but every studio needs executive-level strategy. Hiring "fractional" leadership allows studios to access top-tier talent for critical growth phases without the overhead. It’s the ultimate surgical recruitment move for the modern, agile studio. #GamingIndustry #Startups #Leadership #FractionalExec #GameRecruiter

Most studios are not struggling with execution. They’re struggling with clarity. Design and turnkey are not the same business. One sells ideas. The other takes full responsibility. And the moment you mix the two… Problems start. Because you begin to: • Promise outcomes without control • Take risk without systems • Enter execution without structure This is where things really change: 👉 Turnkey doesn’t increase profit first. 👉 It increases responsibility first. Profit only comes when execution is controlled. Because in this business: Design wins projects. Execution decides profit. 👉 For a clear breakdown, check the carousel below. P.S. Which model are you in is it design, hybrid, or turnkey? Tell me in the comments. #ArchitectureBusiness #TurnkeyProjects #DesignPractice #BusinessOfDesign #StudioGrowth
