Jen Huang posted thisTen years ago I joined Stripe as their fifth product manager. I was fresh from Google with a proven product-building playbook. It didn’t work at Stripe. At Google, the PM function was mature. There were formal launch reviews, structured approval processes, and a lot of documentation. A small mistake, especially in the organization I was in, Search Ads, could cost billions. At Stripe, many teams had never worked with a PM. There wasn't as much of a process, and things moved a lot faster. At first I thought the structure was just missing. It took me a while to see that most of it actually wouldn't have been useful. When you're building something completely new, you have less to protect and far more to learn, and process added too early can get in the way. One example is regulation. Payments is heavily regulated, but the rules rarely tell you how a product should work. We might need certain information from a customer. But do we need it immediately at sign-up? Or could we ask once they’re actually processing meaningful volume? Those kinds of choices made a real difference to how easy Stripe was to use. It’s one reason I think PMs benefit from seeing very different kinds of companies up close. A lot of what feels like “the right way” is really just the right way for a particular company, at a particular stage.

Jen Huang reposted thisJen Huang reposted thisCongratulations to Sasha Orloff and the Puzzle team on their acquisition by Accrual. When Sasha first came to Fluxon, Puzzle was an ambitious idea to rethink accounting, backed by a clear point of view on what could be better. We were fortunate to help bring that early vision to life, giving the team something to put in customers’ hands, learn from, and build upon. It’s impressive how far they've come in just a few years, and this milestone is a reflection of their focus and ability to keep building around what customers need. We’re proud to have played a part in that early chapter and excited for what’s to come. Congratulations to the entire Puzzle team.

Jen Huang reposted thisJen Huang reposted thisBefore jumping into founder waters, this seasoned product and design leader was: - Google’s head product manager for search ads targeting and machine learning, leading a team of 100+ engineers and driving multi-billion dollar revenue launches. - One of Stripe’s first product managers, where she launched the company’s first financially regulated product. 👋 We’re happy to introduce Jen Huang, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Fluxon, a global software development company. Jen passionately champions two topics: what actually makes a great product manager, and what it takes to build a company on your own terms. She shares: 💬 “My co-founder Ena and I grew Fluxon to over 300 people across 12 countries while also starting our families. I want other builders, especially women, to see you can grow a real company without the standard venture-backed playbook dictating your values.” Most people fixate on funding and strategy when they think about starting a company, but Jen strongly believes that *the* decision that shapes everything else is who you build with. 📣 Which is exactly why her TED Talk would be titled: "Who You Build With." Jen says: “I co-founded Fluxon with Ena, Erad, and AJ because we trusted each other's judgment and shared the same definition of success. That's what let us grow steadily, on our own timeline, instead of someone else's. I'd talk about why that choice matters more than people give it credit for.” 🙌 ⭐️ Connect with Jen & learn more below. ___________________ Enjoyed this post? Jen Huang reposted thisJen Huang reposted thisI started coding when I was six, before I fully understood English. My mom brought home a computer from work. It had an Intel 8088 processor, a green monochrome screen, 16KB of RAM, and a book on GW-BASIC. I didn’t know what words like if, for, or goto meant. But I could see what they made the computer do. When the machine did something because I told it to, it felt like magic. It still does. At first, I built things for myself. I wrote a program to play chess, and another to speed up repetitive math homework. I learned that one person with a computer can get a surprising amount done. At 16, I got my first job at a telecom company after my dad convinced their VP of Ops to take a chance on me. That summer, I built a project management system and discovered something more powerful than solving my own problems. The person I was building for didn't really want software. He wanted his time back. Solving a problem once helped him that day. Teaching the computer to solve it gave him time back every week after that. It became my version of the old proverb: is it better to catch a fish, or to teach the computer how to fish? Decades after that first green screen computer, the magic hasn’t changed. I still can’t think of anything more fun than figuring out a hard problem with smart, curious people, and seeing what we can build together.

Jen Huang posted thisI've hired PMs at Google, Stripe, and now at Fluxon. Here's what I've come to look for. The profile of a great PM changed at each company, but three qualities always matter: * They've taken a product or feature from 0 to 1 * They care deeply about the problem they’re solving and their user * They know their craft, but stay curious Beyond that, the right candidate depends entirely on the product, company, and stage. A few examples. For Google Search Ads, I looked for analytical operators. Search Ads was already running at enormous scale, so PMs needed to: * Study the data closely and use it to improve performance * Work across a large, complex organization * Build alignment across teams before launch A good idea wasn't enough. You had to prove it and bring people with you. At Stripe, I looked for creative thinkers with strong design instincts. Stripe's success came from making something complex – accepting payments – feel refreshingly simple for users. There was often no established playbook, so we needed PMs who could: * Stay close to customers and understand their challenges, pain points and needs * Show strong UX judgment and design taste * Bring a desire to change the conventional approach and build something innovative for users The best candidates got their hands dirty to make the product better. At Fluxon, I look for sharp, adaptable generalists. As a consultancy, we can't always predict what our next customer will need. The market moves fast, and our PMs have to enter an unfamiliar industry, earn client trust, and start adding value quickly. That means people who can: * Manage expectations and hard conversations * Help teams separate real P0 priorities from distractions * Learn a new market without being intimidated by it * Lead well without having all the answers on day one The biggest lesson I've learned is that there's no universal template for the perfect PM. Hire for the environment they're entering, not just someone you've seen succeed somewhere else.

Jen Huang reposted thisJen Huang reposted this"We built 80% of it in a few weeks. Can you help with the last 20%?" I hear this on calls all the time. The demo works, the finish line looks close. There are just a few rough edges left, nothing too serious. The problem is that an AI tool that works 80% of the time isn’t 80% done. In production, it means one every five answers is wrong. A team recently showed me a tool they'd built for architects. It sailed through the demo. You could type "make the kitchen bigger," and it would redraw the floor plan in seconds. Walls moved, rooms resized, everything lined up. Then we tried a few questions that weren’t part of the demo. It started producing plans that looked plausible at first glance, but made no sense. Walls holding up nothing, rooms too small to stand in, staircases to nothing. Getting to 80% was the easy part. The remaining 20% was a different kind problem entirely. An awkward room layout might be fine. A design that breaks the building code isn’t. Someone has to draw that line, and then build the checks around it. That usually means real evaluation sets, expert reviews, and a feedback loop that catches the same mistake before it happens again. Closing the gap is usually where all the hard work is. At Google, we used to talk about how every extra nine of reliability costs exponentially more than the one before it. With AI products, it may be even more true. The failures are harder to predict, and sometimes you don’t know what “wrong” looks like until an expert sees it. That last stretch is where you earn the client's trust. More prompting won't get you there.

Jen Huang shared thisWe’re hiring Senior Product Managers at Fluxon. It’s a role for people who like moving across hard, ambiguous problems. One month, you might be building a new reporting platform for Google. Another, you could be shaping an AI product for a fast-growing startup. The work is varied and often complex. You’ll work closely with clients from the earliest product decisions through what ships, with real ownership from day one. You’ll also join a small, experienced PM team that cares deeply about craft, collaboration, and helping each other grow. If that sounds like the kind of environment where you’d do your best work, we’d love to hear from you. https://lnkd.in/gfiswTxN

Jen Huang reposted thisThis is one of those articles that makes us pause and nod along. Salim Batlouni is one of our excellent product leaders who made the switch from leading product teams at Shopify to working alongside our wonderful clients as a Fluxonian. Here he shares what it really felt like to move from an in-house role into consulting. What we love most is how he captures what working at Fluxon is actually like: ✅ Full teams staffed from the start (PM, design, engineering, and delivery) ✅ Product thinking grounded in discovery, not just output ✅ A culture of ownership, without isolation ✅ Clients who trust us to lead, not just deliver Salim's story is a reminder that great consulting is about embedding, collaborating, and building things that matter with people who care. 👇Thanks for the memory, Salim. Give it a read! #Fluxon #ProductLeadership #Own #CareJen Huang reposted thisHalfway through a hiring interview, the candidate asks me: “Why did you leave product to go into consulting?” The answer came in a fluid and honest way. Because Fluxon didn’t feel like what I thought “consulting” was. Here’s what that shift looked like for me: ✅ Full product teams, fully staffed from the start (PM, UX, tech lead, engineers, TPM) ✅ Ownership without isolation ✅ World-class product work with emphasis on discovery, not just shipping ✅ High-trust, low-politics environments If you’re thinking about a shift and want to talk it through, I’d be happy to chat. 👉 Full story below.

Jen Huang reposted thisIn his spare time, Vamsi Nune built Briefly reminding us that innovation doesn't always require heavy infrastructure; sometimes, it's simply clever use of what is already at our fingertips. Briefly is a lightweight Chrome Extension that distills any webpage into a quick summary. No backend. No API calls. Just smart, elegant, in-browser magic. 👏 We love seeing this kind of curiosity and craft in action. Amazing work, Vamsi! See his post below for more. #Fluxon #AI #LLM #browserextensionJen Huang reposted this🚀 After months of building a chat assistant for a data lake and enterprise knowledge base, I decided to take a fun detour and dive into browser-native LLMs. The result? Briefly – a lightweight Chrome extension that summarizes any webpage right in your browser. 🧠 No backend. No API calls. Just pure, in-browser magic. I was genuinely surprised by how simple and powerful these models can be when used creatively. Sometimes, the most elegant solutions come from small, experimental ideas. This one reminded me of that. 🔗 Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gMNE34w9 #AI #LLM #SummarizerAPI #chromeextension #Fluxon #FunAtWork

Jen Huang liked thisJen Huang liked thisFor the past 3 years I have been advising enterprises and startups the same thing: don't fine-tune the model, even for LoRA. RAG it, prompt it, tool-around it. Frontier models iterates so fast, and the economics of tuning never penciled out. That advice is aging fast. GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek, all these open weights are good enough now for many tasks. Not toy-good. Real-work good. And this paper on In-Place Test-Time Training aligns with where my head is going: the game is about to diverge. The trick described in the paper is elegant they repurpose the MLP's final projection matrix as "fast weights" that update live during inference. The model practices next-token prediction on your context as it streams through. This is the shape of what I believe is the next era. Your iPhone photos app knows your friends without you labeling them. Your keyboard learns your slang without a settings menu. The model adapts to you invisibly, session by session, then eventually persistently. We're early. This is per-session, not memory. But compute's getting cheaper, the local model gap is shrinking, and the machinery is coming together. The future probably isn't calling an endpoint. It's the endpoint becoming you through continuous training and adaptation. #llm #continuoustraining #lora #fine-tuning #finetune #ttt #opensourcemodel #openweightsmodel

I'll post more about this later, but for startups looking for an ai boost to get your team aligned and moving, check out Travis Kahn's Growth Blueprint: https://lnkd.in/e4bcd_dG. Founders and teams pair with an agent to get real foundational work done - Business Model Canvas, Customer Profiles, Messaging Frameworks, and Go-to-Market in a centralized environment that shows how everyone's effort connects (and hopefully amplifies). This is very similar to the strategy work that I did in previous lives at BrandNewMatter and Algoworks, and it really shows me how fast ai is moving. The important thing to understand is that frameworks and platforms like this and r4 Technologies are powerful because the technology works with the PEOPLE you have in the loop. True force multipliers only occur when tech, data, and staff are aligned and empowered.
