Gurshaman Baweja shared thisApproximately every 3 minutes, someone in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer. Behind this devastating statistic are real people – family members, friends, colleagues – whose lives are changed forever. When time moves that fast, our response has to move faster. Whether it is funding groundbreaking research, supporting patients, supporting workplace blood drives or raising awareness, WE can help change these statistics. We’re aiming to raise another $100,000 for the annual Light the Night event hosted by Blood Cancer United in memory of our daughter Keerat. We request you to join us in making a difference. Gurshaman Baweja shared thisThis is a great day as we continue our journey to bring light to darkness of cancer for children, thanks to all the advocacy volunteers for their tireless efforts to get these bills to finish line!!!Gurshaman Baweja shared thisTwo weeks ago, I posted on LinkedIn to ask for help as Blood Cancer United embarked upon a final push to ensure Congress would pass the Accelerating Kids' Access to Care Act and the Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act. Today, I’m back to share excellent news: these Blood Cancer United-backed pediatric priorities—and several others— are now on their way to President Trump's desk, where we hope they will be signed into law. These wins include: · The Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act, which reduces bureaucratic red tape to allow pediatric cancer patients to get the care they need quickly, without delays; · The Mikaela Naylon Give Kids a Chance Act, which extends vital programs that support research for more effective pediatric treatments and incentivizes pediatric drug development; · Crucial investments in pediatric cancer research and data infrastructure by once again fully funding the Childhood Cancer STAR Act and the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative that pediatric cancer patients and survivors rely on; and · Full funding for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), which recently announced an exciting new $50 million project to tackle challenges in pediatric data and knowledge sharing. And those weren’t the only wins. In addition to investments in pediatric cancer research, Congress increased vital funding for National Institutes of Health (NIH) research programs and blood cancer research at the Department of Defense, the NIH, and the National Cancer Institute. And, importantly, lawmakers ensured that NIH grantees can continue to collaborate with partners abroad on pediatric cancer clinical trials and research. International collaboration is key to securing breakthroughs, given the scarcity of pediatric cancer data. There was also progress on another Blood Cancer United priority: reducing the high cost of care. Congress approved: · Significant site-neutral reform that will provide insurers with the data they need to lower the cost of care for patients in hospital-owned cancer clinics, helping to address the trend of healthcare provider consolidation; and · Critical pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms that will ban middlemen practices that have increased prescription drug costs for patients Patients will benefit greatly from these wins. But the credit belongs to the advocates who made them happen. That includes thousands of Blood Cancer United advocates who have spent years sharing their stories and concerns with Congress, alongside many other advocates from the broader patient advocacy community. Whoever you are and however you helped: thank you. Your voice was incredibly valuable in this fight. Gurshaman Baweja shared thisI had the privilege of advocating on Capitol Hill alongside passionate Blood Cancer United colleagues and partners, to urge action on policies that will develop new cancer therapies and expand access to care.Gurshaman Baweja shared thisToday, I had the privilege of advocating on Capitol Hill for children and families facing blood cancer. Alongside passionate Blood Cancer United colleagues and partners, we met with members of Congress to urge action on policies that will save lives and expand access to care. We are calling on Congress to: Include the “Childhood Cancer Package” — specifically the Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act and the Give Kids a Chance Act — in any end-of-year legislation. These bills help ensure kids with cancer can receive innovative treatments and access multidisciplinary care, no matter where they live. Provide $135 million in the FY26 appropriations bill to support critical childhood cancer research infrastructure: $35 million for the STAR Act, the most comprehensive childhood cancer legislation ever passed. $100 million for the Childhood Cancer Data Initiative (CCDI) to continue transforming how we share and use data to accelerate cures. Behind every statistic is a child, a family, a story—and they deserve better options, faster treatments, and more hope. I’m grateful for the opportunity to lend my voice to this work, and I’m inspired by the bipartisan support and compassion we experienced today. There’s more work to be done, but today was a meaningful step forward. #ChildhoodCancer #GiveKidsAChance #BloodCancerUnited Chad Harthan Whitney Musitano Whitney Creel Gurshaman Baweja

Gurshaman Baweja liked thisGurshaman Baweja liked thisI'm so excited to share that I've accepted a Senior Software Engineer role at Outpave, starting in October! What makes this one special is who I'll be working for. Back in 2009-2011 timeframe at Texas Instruments, I worked for David Cauthron, a manager who left a lasting mark on how I think about leadership and showing up for a team. Sixteen years later, I get to work for him again as Outpave's CTO. Full-circle moments like this don't come around often, and I'm not taking it for granted. It's also a good reminder of something I try to live by: you never know how you'll be remembered or who you will be working for one day, so always put your best foot forward. The work you do and the way you treat people today can open doors you can't even see yet. Here's to the next chapter. 🚀

Because peer review works, for science, for patients and for our future. Helping is easy – and quick, too. Sending a prewritten message to your members of Congress takes less than 30 seconds. I’ll put the link in the comments. If you want to learn more about this issue, I encourage you to watch the video from Blood Cancer United’s President & CEO, E. Anders Kolb, MD.
