Gerald Brady shared thisLast week we hosted 15 amazing founders at Silicon Valley Bank's AI Showcase at our stunning Bryant Park offices in New York. As always, I'm blown away by the talent of the founders in the room and a massive thanks to everyone who presented. We've hosted our SVB Showcase events for over 16-years and we continue to be impressed at the vision and execution of the founders that present. SVB is all about making connections, and helping founders on their journey, and if last week was anything to go by, you are all going to knock it out of the park. Thanks to our presenters: Albara H. at Blanc Tech, Inc, Andrew Berman at Runlayer, Ariadna (Ari) Font Llitjós, PhD at Alinia AI, Christian Widhalm at Bloom Credit, Enda Cahill at Sequence, Guy Leibovitz at Nominal, Mohamed Mohsen at Slash, Navindra Yadav and Farid Jiandani at theom, Pulkit Jaiswal at AgentSmyth, Samir Shergill at Highbeam, Spiros Xanthos at Resolve AI, Shanthi Shanmugam at Casap, Tommy Rosenkranz at Constrafor, Yibo Ling at Rowspace and Zan Faruqui at Gradient Labs - you were all brilliant! Thanks to all the VCs and investors for nominating companies to present at the showcase and to all the guests who joined us. Finally, a huge thanks to the SVB team for all the work put into making the Showcase such a success, especially to Maximilian Montano, who did all the work, and Bo Ren, Arianne Perry, Akshit (Ash) Bhatia, CFA, Natalie Fratto, Brian Foley, Lorri Sarkisian and countless other SVB’ers who helped make the Showcase happen - it takes a team!!

Gerald Brady shared thisThe latest Silicon Valley Bank #StateofTheMarket report was published this morning and can be downloaded here: https://lnkd.in/gpsccJu9 As usual the SoTM report is packed with great insights, built off the back of more than 40-years of Silicon Valley Bank working with founders and investors, and more than 30 editions of the SoTM report. 2025 saw $340bn invested in US venture backed companies, the second highest amount ever invested. However, behind that headline number is a smaller number of companies being funded, with the top 1% of all venture deals accounting for one-third of all investment in 2025. Below is one of my favorite slides from the report, showing 47% of all venture funding in 2025 went to companies raising over $500m in the round, up from 20% in 2024, driven entirely by the surge in #AI investing. Well done to the team for a great report!

Gerald Brady shared thisWith all the other news coming out of Europe, it's easy to miss the news that Renault has partnered with Turgis Gaillard to produce drones to be used in Ukraine. This makes me think of Ford in World War Two, who revolutionized aircraft production by building the massive Willow Run plant in Michigan, mass-producing over 8,600 B-24 Liberator bombers using assembly line techniques adapted from car manufacturing. https://lnkd.in/gap2zpp7Renault to team up with French defence group to make drones for UkraineRenault to team up with French defence group to make drones for Ukraine

Gerald Brady reacted on thisGerald Brady reacted on this🤷🏻♀️…so yeah, you’re probs thinking…George Clooney speaking at RSAC?! No, he has nothing to do with cybersecurity. But as it turned out, he had a lot of leadership lessons to share from building an exceptional career, weathering failure, growing a business, and using his platform to make a real difference through the Clooney Foundation for Justice, which provides free legal aid in defense of free speech and women’s rights around the world. In cyber, we spend a lot of time talking about technology, threats, and risk (and AI!). But at the end of the day, leadership is about people, and what you do with influence once you have it—to quote from one of my favorite superheroes: “With great power comes great responsibility.” So it was a great convo, a memorable moment, and a cool reminder that some of the best insights come from unexpected places.

Gerald Brady reacted on thisGerald Brady reacted on this😃 At RSA this week, I had the chance to sit down with Rob Joyce following his keynote to talk about what he sees the world of Offensive AI and the defining shift for 2026. Here’s the core takeaway: AI in cyber conflict is no longer experimental. It is operational. We discussed what that means in practice: • AI scaling attacks at unprecedented speed • Persistent nation-state pre-positioning in critical infrastructure • Ongoing fragility in the software supply chain 👇 Rob put it simply: assume the threat is moving at AI speed and build your defense to match it. 🏃♀️➡️ PwC #RSAC #OffensiveAI

Hinge Health, Omada Health, Heartflow: 3 highly successful HealhTech IPO's to date in 2025 https://lnkd.in/ei4UaJ65 The successful IPOs of Hinge Health, Omada Health, and HeartFlow in 2025 can be attributed to several key factors that distinguish them from the digital health companies that struggled in previous years, particularly during the "SPAC mania" of 2021. These companies demonstrated a combination of maturity, strong business fundamentals, and a clear path to value creation, making them attractive to a more discerning public market. The successful IPOs of Hinge Health, Omada Health, and HeartFlow mark a "thawing" of the public market for digital health. They are not just hype-driven ventures but mature, resilient companies with proven business models, strong financials, and the ability to demonstrate a tangible impact on patient outcomes and healthcare costs. These IPOs are seen as a positive sign for the healthtech sector, which has seen a drought in public offerings since 2021.The successful debuts of these companies are seen as "bellwethers," indicating a cautious reopening of the public market for mature, high-growth digital health firms with proven business models. https://lnkd.in/ei4UaJ65

Thrilled to partner with BNY's Sarthak Pattanaik and Reed Alexander at Business Insider to share the story of our latest collaboration! BNY is integrating Gemini Enterprise with its Eliza AI platform to bring powerful deep research capabilities to its global workforce. This integration is unlocking productivity for BNY’s teams and freeing up employees to focus on strategic thinking and client relationships. As I shared with Reed, financial firms are becoming a critical testing ground for agentic AI because their workflows involve heavy documentation, strict rules, and significant risk management. With the deep research agents on Gemini Enterprise, banks can reason through lengthy materials while staying anchored to a firm's internal policies—a prerequisite for deploying agents across custody, markets, or onboarding. This is a powerful, real-world example of using AI to truly empower teams with agentic tools powered by Google's most advanced Gemini models. Incredibly proud of the collaboration between our organizations. Congratulations to the BNY team on this strategic, forward-thinking work. How does network drive value in private equity investing? We sat down with private equity veteran and Partner, Global Co-Head of Private Equity, Goldman Sachs Asset Management Michael Bruun to discuss the current state of private equity. In the latest Alt Goes Mainstream AGM Unscripted podcast, Michael and I had a fascinating conversation about private equity, today’s investing environment, the hardest part about investing today, and how product innovation is impacting private equity’s market structure. We covered: ➡️ How investors can approach allocating to private equity today. ➡️ The toolkit required to generate returns in private equity today. ➡️ The importance of network and operating partners in value creation. ➡️ How new product innovation and new structures like evergreens and continuation vehicles are changing growth equity and private equity. ➡️ The importance of understanding macro in a new world order of geopolitics and a new world order of investing. ➡️ The skillsets that investors need to have to be a good investor in today’s investing environment. ➡️ The hardest part about investing today. Thanks Michael for sharing your wisdom, expertise, and passion about private equity. https://lnkd.in/evBthMD8

Reindustrialization is our generation's defining problem. Do we engage in a whole-of-nation effort to rebuild our industrial base, or do we cede global leadership to an emboldened China? They have the momentum right now. But America has done it before, and we can do it again. We MUST do it again. All other political squabbles are irrelevant. This what matters, period. Full stop. The future of Western civilization depends on the path we choose over the next 5 years. Take whatever funding is going into liberal arts education and plow it into trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and STEM education. Open the floodgates of low-interest-rate loans for equipment & facilities. Encourage large American companies to make firm, long-term commitments to domestic suppliers. Hack and slash at every regulation at every level of government that impedes progress. Just get rid of it all. Better to cut too much and have to add some back than lose the most important race of our lifetime. Build the ships, the rockets, the cars, the machine tools, the CNC shops, the ball-bearings, the gearboxes, the lubricants, the stators, the cathodes... build it all. Don't pick and choose. A strong industrial base has non-obvious interdependencies all the way down to the raw material inputs. If you don't know much about manufacturing now it doesn't matter. Start learning. China achieved remarkable results in a single generation, and we're starting from a WAY better position. I'm confident we can make immense progress in a single decade. I'll do my part, but this problem needs all the intellectual and physical horsepower we can throw at it. Time is running out. The urgency is real. Get to work.

Will the secondary markets ever become a traded market like the bank loan market? We sat down with private markets veteran and Partner, Global Head of Vintage Strategies, External Investing Group (XIG) at Goldman Sachs Asset Management Harold Hope to discuss the rapid growth and evolution of the secondary market. In the latest Alt Goes Mainstream AGM Unscripted podcast, Harold and I had a fascinating conversation about the nuances of the secondary market and what the future of secondaries might look like: ➡️ Perspectives from Harold’s early days in secondaries 25 years ago, when Goldman had raised its first $400M fund in secondaries and when the secondaries industry was doing around $2B per year in transaction volume. ➡️ The evolution of innovation in the secondaries market. ➡️ Why problem-solving is a defining feature of secondaries. ➡️ What is the right skillset required to be a great secondaries investor? ➡️ Why secondaries is fundamentally a valuation oriented business. ➡️ Are secondaries returns driven by buying high-quality assets or by buying at steep discounts? ➡️ Misconceptions about continuation vehicles and how the trend of private companies staying private longer impacts CVs. ➡️ The how and the why behind Goldman’s recent acquisition of Industry Ventures and why Goldman is excited about the opportunity set in venture and growth secondaries. ➡️ Why scale matters in secondaries. ➡️ Why secondaries might not become a traded market like the bank loan market and why secondaries may not fully achieve standardization because managers may not want completely uniform standardization. ➡️ Why secondaries can be an on-ramp to private markets for private wealth investors. Thanks Harold for sharing your wisdom, expertise, and passion about secondaries and private markets. https://lnkd.in/evTHaVDG

Unlocking Capital: Female Investor Roundtable Insights 🔓 Earlier this year, the British Business Bank gathered some of the most influential women in the UK venture capital ecosystem for an intimate roundtable discussion about the unique challenges female fund managers face when raising capital. The conversation was candid, insightful, and — most importantly — actionable. Despite the BBB having 25% female fund managers (vs 12% industry average), new fund pipelines remain 70-80% male teams. Key barriers we discussed: 🚧 Year-long fundraising processes without runway 🚧 Unrealistic GP commitment expectations 🚧 The track record catch-22 🚧 Parental leave treated as "key person events" Promising solutions: 🔑 Flexible GP commitments based on personal wealth 🔑 Lower first close requirements 🔑 Updated parental leave provisions As one participant said: "We don't just need more capital; we need champions at the LP level." Frontier tech finds its ground zero in the Midcontinent The Midcontinent is now emerging as a pivotal region for frontier tech and investment. SVB’s recent insights spotlight this growth, particularly in industries like energy, infrastructure, and deep tech—momentum that the Midcontinent region is already capitalizing on. At Cortado Ventures, we’re doubling down on early-stage frontier tech that reimagines legacy industries. Our 2025 Midcon VC Summit in Tulsa underscored this momentum in an outstanding presentation by Josh Pherigo, who builds on that theme with this article. https://lnkd.in/gpFVeDVw

Hundreds of external MDs joined firms on two-year guarantees, naturally affecting advancement timelines. But there's a newer dynamic that's quietly reshaping the game: experienced Directors/VP3/4s who have been RIF'd are trying to reenter the market at lower VP-level roles and compensation, creating a competitive landscape that few saw coming. Great conversations at our WillowTree Ventures dinner with leaders across fintech and AI. A few themes stood out strongly: enterprises are leaning into AI for real efficiency gains, product and engineering orgs still set the agenda, and the whitespace in “boring” industries is wider than most people assume. It’s clear that the next breakout companies in AI for financial services won’t come from the obvious places. Thanks to everyone who joined - excited to keep working alongside founders building in these non-obvious, high-impact wedges.
