Gigabit Fiber and DataBank Expand Strategic Partnership with Long-Term Lease Extension Expansion at 400 S. Akard to Support High-Density, Next-Gen Network Infrastructure   DALLAS - March 31, 2025 - Gigabit Fiber, a Dallas-based metro fiber provider, and DataBank, a leading provider of enterprise-class data centers, today announced the extension of their long-term lease agreement at 400 S. Akard in downtown Dallas, Texas. The expanded agreement includes additional space and power, reinforcing the companies' deepening commercial relationship. As part of the lease extension, Gigabit Fiber will develop a state-of-the-art office, lab, and hyper-connected data center environment. The upgraded facility will serve as a key hub for Gigabit's most important personnel and network operations. The investment also includes the deployment of a multi-million-dollar, next-generation optical network engineered to support the growing demands of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and ultra-low-latency high-capacity connectivity. This network interconnects over 40 data centers throughout the Dallas metroplex, providing on-demand IP transit, wave, and dark fiber services. The meet-me room at 400 S. Akard, known for its exceptional "data gravity," will be further enhanced by Gigabit's network, amplifying the rich digital ecosystem already in place. Anatel Upholds Exclusive MVNO Contract Between Claro and NuCel In a significant decision this yesterday, Anatel's Board of Directors voted to allow an exclusivity clause in the contract between telecom giant Claro and NuCel, Nubank's virtual mobile operator (#MVNO). This ruling allows #NuCel to continue its exclusive use of Claro's network infrastructure, a decision that has been under review by the agency since NuCel's entry into the market last year. The controversy began when Anatel's technical department initially approved the MVNO agreement but only after removing the #exclusivity clause. The clause would have prevented NuCel from entering into similar contracts with other operators. Both Claro and Nubank appealed this decision, arguing that the exclusivity was a result of a free negotiation between the two companies. The case was brought before the Anatel Council by Councilor Vicente Bandeira de Aquino, who ultimately recommended that the exclusivity mechanism be maintained. His peers on the board supported this position unanimously. This decision marks a pivotal moment for the MVNO market in Brazil, as it validates the use of such clauses in private agreements between operators and MVNOs. I am pleased to announce that HALYS is joining the growing list of EUWENA members. HALYS is a 4G/5G core network provider and a specialist in roaming solutions. As more and more countries allocate or are in the process of allocating frequencies for dedicated private #5G networks, it is important to show other European countries that the ecosystem is there and that they can follow suit. This is also a good time to announce that EUWENA will be updating the spectrum repository and that it will be presented at #CCW25 in June in Brussels. CSPs have built some of the most advanced 5G networks in the world. But are we truly maximizing the ROI on those massive spectrum and RAN investments? In my 23+ years in the telecom industry, I’ve seen several major technology shifts, but the move to 5G Standalone and network slicing is a different beast. It demands unprecedented agility. The reality I'm seeing in the market is that the biggest bottleneck to 5G monetization isn't the radio network—it's the legacy systems sitting behind it. Relying on rigid, siloed BSS/OSS to launch and monetize advanced, on-demand enterprise 5G services is like putting a dial-up modem on a fiber connection. It stalls time-to-market for new B2B offerings, restricts dynamic pricing models, and keeps operational costs unsustainably high. To unlock real growth, we have to shift the conversation from just "network speed" to "business agility." That means migrating to cloud-native, catalog-driven architectures that actually empower the business rather than holding it back. Credit: Sean Kinney RCR Wireless News Choi described multi-radio access spectrum sharing (MRSS) as the mechanism to govern shared spectrum across 5G, 6G, Wi-Fi, satellite-based, and other radio access mediums. “As we move toward 6G, we are entering an era where spectrum sharing, massive bandwidth, and ultra-dense deployments make…conventional, manual network management completely impossible.” AI models can predict spectrum occupancy and demand patterns based on historical and real-time data to enable proactive spectrum allocation before congestion or interference occurs. Reinforcement learning agents can continuously calibrate the optimal way to allocate spectrum across different access technologies. And AI agents, working across radio and edge sites, can autonomously balance traffic loads. “Without artificial intelligence technology, the complexity and speed required for the efficient MRSS operation in 6G would be practically unmanageable, making AI-native RAN architecture in 6G an essential foundation for the future,” Choi said. https://lnkd.in/gjzWCRBv
