This will be an interesting piece to look back on. The basic points. 1). "The race to build Permian natural gas takeaway capacity – with operators announcing roughly 10 Bcf/d of new takeaway capacity through 2030 – hinges on whether associated gas production can sustain growth as oil drilling economics weaken." They are building a large amount of pipelines to move associated gas which is dependent on increasing Permian oil production. What happens if Permian oil production stops increasing? 2). According to this article on the huge pipeline buildout, that would be a sign to stop building new gas pipelines in the Permian. “If you tell me when Permian oil production peaks, I’ll tell you when gas pipeline buildout from the area will slow,” said NGI’s Patrick Rau, senior vice president of research and analysis. 3). They make this rather important point a second time. “If you start seeing Permian oil level off, what is there to incentivize producers to target gassier wells?” Bevan asked on Enelyst. So, there is a massive build out of gas pipelines in the Permian underway that can only be slowed by the eventual peak in Permian oil production. Anyone know someone in the oil industry we could ask about when US oil production (led by the Permian) might peak? “As a result of activity cuts, it is likely that U.S. onshore oil production has peaked and will begin to decline this quarter,” Travis Stice, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Diamondback Energy, wrote in a letter to stockholders this week. They are overbuilding pipelines to move gas to the overbuilt LNG export terminals while global LNG demand isn't materializing. Meanwhile, the associated gas to fill these pipes won't be there. and apparently Goldman is now predicting prices for Brent in the mid 50s which likely puts WTI around $50. Going to have to borrow BIGLY to keep paying those dividends. Meanwhile, LNG demand will continue to be destroyed due to its economic disadvantage to solar and storage and oil demand will be destroyed by the electrification of transportation. https://lnkd.in/e4RXnrPF

Western Midstream Buys Brazos Delaware in $1.6 Billion Permian Deal (P&GJ) — Western Midstream Partners has agreed to acquire Brazos Delaware II in a $1.6 billion transaction that significantly expands the company’s natural gas gathering, processing and crude infrastructure footprint across the Delaware Basin. The deal includes approximately 900 miles of pipeline, 460 million cubic feet per day of natural gas processing capacity at the Comanche processing complex and roughly 470,000 dedicated acres across Reeves, Ward, Pecos, Winkler, Culberson and Loving counties in Texas. #oilandgas #measurementmatters #mergers #pipeline
