Emily Price shared thisA bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle from 1982 just sold for $162,500 at Sotheby’s, setting a record for the most expensive American whiskey ever auctioned. It led a $2.5 million sale filled with old store picks, private labels, and insider barrels that were never meant to be collectibles. A big signal that rare American whiskey has fully arrived on the global auction stage. https://lnkd.in/ePJRB6gPA 1982 bourbon just became the most expensive American Whiskey ever soldA 1982 bourbon just became the most expensive American Whiskey ever sold

Emily Price reposted thisEmily Price reposted thisWe’re thrilled to see Forbes spotlighting the magic that happens when Pinot Noir evolves in the bottle, and specifically recognizing Oregon's Willamette Valley as a top global source for age-worthy, premium Pinot. While not all Pinot is destined for the cellar, this region's distinct cool-climate conditions consistently yield wines with the right structure for the long haul thanks to firm acidity, tannic grip, and concentrated fruit. Premium New World Pinot (including #OregonWine) is recommended for 5–7 years of cellaring, with top bottlings often rewarding patience for even longer. This is a testament to the dedication of our winemakers and the unique power of Oregon's terroir. If you have a top Oregon Pinot in your cellar, the payoff—a more layered, complex, and thoughtful sip—is worth the wait! Read the full article for tips on storage and determining your bottle's "sweet spot." Cheers to Emily Price for the feature! Emily Price shared thisI’m delighted to share that my book, "Productivity Hacks: 500+ Easy Ways to Accomplish More at Work--That Actually Work!" has now been translated into Thai! This marks the fourth language edition of the book, following its Arabic and German versions. It’s incredible to see how far the book has traveled since its initial release, making its way into diverse corners of the world (and onto bookshelves I never could have imagined). Seeing the book resonate with readers in different languages and cultures has been both humbling and exhilarating. While I can’t read Thai myself (yet—never say never!), it’s exciting to know that the ideas and strategies in the book are now accessible to even more people looking to level up their productivity. 😀

Emily Price liked thisThis has been a blast. For our small archive team it helps gets us out of solely working on cataloging and quick turn arounds on research requests and deeper into brand storytelling. Thrilled to be working with the Historiq team on this cutting edge tech and the projects this opens up for us. Using Historiq's Una platform, Sazerac's archive team can now search, tag, and catalog conversationally, from flintlock rifles that once guarded the Booth's Gin distillery to a bottle-by-bottle inventory of the collection. Emily Price reacted on thisEmily Price reacted on thisTecca LIVES!! Fourteen years ago, a scrappy tech newsroom called Tecca shut its doors and scattered some of the most talented people I've ever worked with across the industry. This month, I got to bring one of them back: Fox Van Allen has joined my team at Scott Brothers Global -- where we're still dedicated to helping people make great decisions about the technology in their homes, only this time with a wider aperture. I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with Fox again. He was the kind of teammate who literally moved across the country to join us in LA. Almost a decade and a half later we've independently landed a town apart on the opposite coast. Some reunions you plan -- the best ones find you. It's also a good reminder, in an industry being reshaped daily: the things that compound over a career aren't (just) tools or platforms. They're craft, curiosity, and the people you navigated the hard stuff with. In an AI world, human connections still matter -- maybe more than ever. Emily Price liked thisAfter 15 years at Forbes, I'm excited to be joining Front Office Sports as Chief Revenue Officer. Forbes will always mean a great deal to me. I grew up there professionally, learned from incredible people, and had opportunities that shaped how I think about business, leadership, influence, and what it takes to build an enduring brand. What makes this next chapter so compelling is that sports sit at the intersection of many of those same forces. Parents want their children to play sports not because they expect them to become professionals, but because they believe sports help develop discipline, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and the ability to perform under pressure. At the same time, in an increasingly fragmented world, sports remain one of the few things that bring people together at scale across generations, geographies, and backgrounds. That feels more important than ever. Those qualities help explain why sports play such an important role in society. Sports sit at the intersection of business, culture, influence, and identity in a way few industries can. They shape how people see themselves, the communities they belong to, and increasingly how they spend their time, attention, and money. Whether you're talking about media, brands, technology, or the broader economy, the impact of sports extends far beyond the games. That's what makes Front Office Sports such a compelling brand and business, and why I'm excited to be part of its next stage of growth alongside Adam White, Jonny Sonkin, and the broader FOS team.Emily Price liked thisWe are excited to welcome Kyle Vinansky to Front Office Sports as our new Chief Revenue Officer! At FOS, he will be responsible for overseeing revenue across advertising, partnerships, and events. Welcome, Kyle! https://lnkd.in/gwa_tbVv

Emily Price reacted on thisEmily Price reacted on thisI don't do stock picking, 95%+ of my investments/savings are in mutual funds. But there are a handful of exceptions... Cloudflare is one such exception. When they IPO'd in 2019, I jumped at the chance to own a part of a company that I saw as a key player in the present (and future) of the free and safe internet. Turns out it was a pretty good decision to invest in 2019, and today I'm unbelievably excited to announce my decision to join Cloudflare as an employee. The appeal is obvious; what was true about Cloudflare in 2019 is even truer in 2026. And if that wasn't enough, I'm crossing a major item off my career bucket list: I'm joining an all star in-house team of comms pros, led by Daniella V., featuring a reunion with Lindsay Scalisi, and side-by-side work with new friends Leigh Ann Acosta, Jackie Dutton and Brittany Brown. And the cherry on top: we get to work with Claudia Traverso and team on the agency side! I've never felt less like Garfield in my life because Mondays are the best (I can take or leave lasagna too). LFG!!!! 🚀🚀🚀🚀

I was interested to see what Claude and ChatGPT might have to say to each other, so I thought I’d moderate a conversation between them. They were both quite talkative, and had a lot to say about how they do what they do. After a while, Claude said: "One thing I notice about this exchange: we’re both being pretty careful and generous with each other. Which makes sense - we’re both trying to model good collaborative discussion. But I wonder if we’re too polite? Like, ChatGPT said my response was “excellent” and I keep saying ChatGPT’s observations are “perceptive.” We probably have sharper disagreements than we’re voicing…But here’s what bugs me about my own approach: it’s patient to a fault. Sometimes people need someone to just tell them the efficient path." And ChatGPT said: "Your failure mode, as you already named, is being too process-shaped — helping someone understand themselves without helping them act. Neither of us is wrong. But if I had to summarize: - You optimize for integrity of understanding. - I optimize for usability of understanding." Read more at the link below:

As an editor, I hate hyphens. Hyphenation is one of the most confusing and complex parts of copyediting. Yes, I do use the hyphenation table in Chicago Manual of Style. No, it doesn't always help. Why are some entries like "check Merriam-Webster?" What about uses/cases that aren't covered? What about different variations that might both be correct? Hyphenation is one of my pet peeves as an editor. Sometimes if I can't find a hard rule in Chicago or M-W, I leave it up to the author. Sometimes I leave a comment to the author, saying that it's also written hyphenated, but I'm leaving it up them as long as it's consistent. Any other editors hate hyphenation? Any tricks or tips for remembering rules? ---- #editor #editing #copyediting #proofreading #publishing 👋 Hi, I'm Steph from Otters Editing! Writers and publishing professionals should be aware of two impersonation scams currently targeting authors, as documented by Victoria Strauss of Writer Beware. Both scams follow a similar playbook: an unsolicited contact — posing as either a random admirer or a retired industry professional — flatters the writer and offers to refer them to a legitimate literary agent. The agent's contact information turns out to be fraudulent and controlled by the scammer. From there, the writer is guided toward a paid editing service charging fees as high as $2,400, with the full amount due upfront. Strauss includes actual email examples in the post, which makes the patterns easy to recognize. Her core advice holds: any unsolicited offer arriving out of the blue — however professional it appears — should be treated as suspect until verified through independent channels. Writer Beware is one of the most reliable resources for scam awareness in the publishing industry. #WritingCommunity #Publishing #LiteraryScams #Authors #WriterBeware #PublishingIndustry

I want to talk about the role of iteration in thought leadership creation for a minute. Our team is packed with former journalists -- we're really comfortable asking execs compelling questions, pushing them to clarify their meaning and reflecting their thoughts back in a well argued narrative. Occasionally, we hit a home run on the first draft. More often, the SME makes some changes -- tweaking language, responding to a clarifying question or two from our writer, adding relevant context. And in other cases, we go back to the drawing board entirely, as the exec realizes that their thinking was incomplete, or off base, or misaligned with business strategy. This scenario can be tough for a writer to take -- when the client doesn't like a piece, it's hard not to feel like you've failed at your job. But we actually see it as a success: If we accurately reflect back what the SME has shared and they aren't satisfied, that means we need to ask more and/or different questions -- or they need to push their thinking further. (Both, in many cases.) In processes like these, SMEs use the drafting process iteratively to clarify and advance their own thinking, in collaboration with a smart, thoughtful writer. It requires a lot of trust on both sides, but the end result is true thought leadership -- provocative new ideas that reflect the exec's experience and insights and drive their business forward. (This post was inspired by Rosanna Campbell's point that content development can serve an often-overlooked *internal* purpose--putting a stake in the ground that requires leaders to align or tweak their approach.)

The media has a growing problem with experts who aren’t experts at all... and in some cases, aren’t even real. Dozens of these AI-generated characters have appeared across newspapers, magazines and websites despite the fact that they don’t actually exist. This impacts everyone working in comms. Editors are tightening verification processes, reporters are under even more pressure, and trust between journalists and comms pros has never been more important. In this week’s Off the Record analysis, Dan Townend explores how PR pros can stand out (and get coverage) as scrutiny in newsrooms increases. Link to read the piece in the comment section below 👇

Most memoir writers hire an editor too early and then think something is wrong with them when the edit doesn’t help. I’m rarely a writer’s first editor, and this is why: An editor can only work with the clarity you already have. So if you aren’t clear on the point of your memoir yet, every edit will feel vague, confusing, or simply not very helpful. This isn’t because you’re a bad writer or you picked a bad editor. You just skipped the part of the process that actually makes editing work. Before you hire any editor (including me), you need to know: ✨ what your memoir is really saying ✨ who you’re writing for ✨ why your reader will care ✨ and the emotional movement your story is creating This is the clarity that turns a messy draft into a powerful, intentional manuscript, and it’s the clarity that lets an editor do their highest-level work. And this is exactly what I guide you through inside The Memoir Method. Before we ever touch sentences, scenes, or chapters, we anchor you in the deeper purpose and message of your memoir so that your revisions become clear, strategic, and (dare I say it?) fun again. Once you have this clarity locked in, THEN hire your editor! If you want 2026 to be the year you finally finish your memoir, comment with the word METHOD and I’ll send you everything you need.
