The mission of the NYU Langone Health Vaccine Center COVID-19 Vaccine Research Community Advisory Board (CAB) is to serve as an independent advisory voice, acting as a link between the local study communities and the research project in order to build and foster partnerships with our research teams and stakeholders. As an advocate for the local study communities, the CAB will facilitate communication and education between the research team and local study communities regarding the trial, helping to ensure:
*Inclusion, diversity, and equity during the conduct of recruitment, retention, and
provision of research interventions and clinical care;
*Culturally competent education of stakeholders about the research process,
including, but not limited to, participant rights, data ownership, compensation,
dismantling myths regarding the trial and providing accurate information to address
fears and concerns;
*Identification and mitigation of potential inequalities in literacy, education, and
economic resources between researchers and the local communities; and
*Researchers are provided with important information to assist in implementing the
guiding principles of respect, fairness, integrity, transparency, accountability, and
autonomy, both universally and as they uniquely apply to the local study
communities. -
