I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I had there and, most importantly, for the amazing team I had the privilege of working alongside. I leave knowing they're in a great position to continue doing amazing things, and I'll be cheering them on from the sidelines. I've also had the pleasure of working with so many talented people throughout the organization, and I wish them all the best. For now, I'm taking a little time to recharge and think about what the next chapter of my career looks like. If we've worked together over the years, thank you for being part of the journey. It's steeped in psychological and body horror, with grounded sci-fi elements and a deeply personal story at its core. It's never easy to decide when the first draft is "done," because there's always more to do. But I have a deadline because I'll be joining the Futurescapes 100-page novel workshop this fall to get in-depth developmental feedback on the first 100 pages while I revise and gear up to pitch. With this book, I learned that I'm actually not a strict "plotter" after all. I'm more of a "plantser" (plotter + panster), meaning I write with a general high-level structure, but I don't outline at the scene level and instead write freely toward the general arc of the book. I need to let the ideas breathe and flow into each other and sometimes let life get in the way to make the story the best it can be. I can't wait to share more soon.

I'm planning to arrive at the show later tomorrow to moderate the final panel of Humanoid Robot Forum Day One. I will be moderating all planned panels Weds and expect to host the live episode of Automated on Thursday. I likely won't be doing much in the way of socializing after hours. I lost my father on Friday, but I'm looking forward to seeing some folks and welcoming some distraction. Thank you for your understanding.

Now it's up to her to prevent the ectoplasmic minions of a formerly-dead madman from stealing the bodies they desperately crave. -

As the years wear on, even we've forgotten about a few major milestones.
Thankfully, the 27 years of PC Magazine in print (archived at Google Books) and the subsequent 13 years of being…PCMag's four decades of uninterrupted publication have included many highs and lows—along with the day-to-day work that comes with testing 2,000-plus products and services each year, dispensing endless buying advice, and covering important news as we chronicle the fast-paced world of technology. As the years wear on, even we've forgotten about a few major milestones.
Thankfully, the 27 years of PC Magazine in print (archived at Google Books) and the subsequent 13 years of being online-only, plus the many years of paper and pixel overlap, are all still available. For this anniversary, we took a trip down memory lane to pull out some of the biggest events in PCMag history and the major tech milestones we've covered. Follow along for a fun 40-year ride.

We are transitioning from asking an LLM to write a script, to commanding an agent to execute that script on our local files. My latest analysis covers the arrival of "Claude Cowork" and what this functional pivot means for technical freelancers and power users. Here are the key aspects of this transition: -> Moving beyond conversation toward direct system execution. -> Operating within sandboxed local environments for safe file manipulation. ->Replacing complex manual scripting for repetitive freelance workflows (like batch resizing or invoicing). A common misunderstanding right now is conflating Claude "Projects" with "Cowork."
