  • Senior Design Project (Automatic Aquarium Water Change System)

    The primary goal of this project was to create a system which performs water changes in an aquarium. The system was able to change a set amount of water on scheduled intervals. The system treated the water with dechlorinator before adding the water to the aquarium.

    Other features to be implemented at a later time are: temperature matching, keeping water level during changes, and push of a button commands ("perform change now"​, "autofill water").

    There was currently nothing on the market that includes all of the aforementioned features. In order to purchase a product similar to this, the consumer would have had to search online to find a DIY system. These DIY systems require education in programming and microcontrollers.

    Our goal was to create a product that can be easily purchased at a store, configured on an aquarium at home, and one that could be run without any interferences.
