FDA clears ResMed’s AI “Smart Comfort” to personalize CPAP settings.   This week, ResMed received FDA clearance for its AI‑enabled Personalized Therapy Comfort Settings (PTCS), to be marketed as Smart Comfort. The software recommends individualized comfort parameters (e.g., humidity/pressure relief/ramp) for connected CPAP devices to help people with obstructive sleep apnea start — and stick with — therapy. For health systems and payers, even small adherence gains can translate into fewer returns, lower support burden, and better long‑term outcomes. For investors, it’s another signal that value in sleep tech is shifting toward data‑driven SaMD layered on durable hardware and services. Importantly, the clearance is regulatory, not a clinical outcomes readout; the company has not yet disclosed peer‑reviewed adherence or QoL impact. Still, this is a pragmatic step: deploy ML on real‑world sleep data to remove early friction and nudge persistence — where CPAP programs often falter. A new bipartisan bill (S.1399, the Health Tech Investment Act) would create a dedicated Medicare pathway for FDA‑cleared AI devices: - Automatic Category III NTAPC codes valid for 5 years - Payments based on the manufacturer’s cost estimate - Smoother transition to permanent CPT codes Backed by GE HealthCare, Siemens Healthineers, the proposal could finally solve the “great technology, no reimbursement” dilemma that slows AI adoption. Medtech and healthtech have epicenters of development and innovation. Israel sits in the elite class of development and innovation. Innovation and development are most definitely a part of the magic of bringing critical products and solutions to the patient and the healthcare environment that serves them. Another aspect of of success, especially in the U.S., one of the worlds largest markets, is navigating the gauntlet that comes with clinical execution, market development (especially in groundbreaking technologies), FDA interaction, and finally initial commercial launch. All of which favor deep knowledge and experience of the U.S. market. Building the right teams for maximal impact of a technology to be fulfilled requires a harmonization of the U.S. / Israel bridge. 🚦 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 = 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. 𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵. Everyone is asking if AI is safe for dentistry. The real answer is yes, but only when you build with guardrails and keep patients at the center. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺: most risk happens when full records are exported into random tools. That’s why we use 𝗥𝗔𝗚 (Retrieval-Augmented Generation). Instead of giving AI your entire database, it pulls only the specific fields needed for each task. That means your patients are better informed, your marketing is more effective, and your staff can be more efficient, all while staying HIPAA compliant. What does that look like in practice? So the message is simple: trust is not built with promises; it’s built with process.
