Dan O'Connor shared thisColor done right!! So many times we see floors over saturated with color 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ why pay top dollar for premium material only to drown out the natural beauty of the wood???? Color should be an accent and mostly translucent, over coloring of the wood not only robs it of the reason you picked it but breaks down the structural integrity making it more prone to scratches and impact strikes. We create all of our colors for our clients and in almost every case it is completely one of a kind.
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisF L A T!!!! Do you know the importance of a quality sand and finish??? It’s not just about the finish you choose but the proper amount of sanding the finish goes on top of. The flatter the floor the longer the floor will last, high or uneven chatter in the floor will be exposed by foot traffic and worn down to raw wood extremely quickly compared to a correctly sanded flat floor, not only is the flatter floor more aesthetically pleasing it also will outlast and out perform a poorly executed sand job. This floor is 5 inch white oak select or better with our signature “Whiskey in the jar” color blend of HWO. CHEERS 🍻🍻
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisRELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!! These circles of adhesive serve a purpose....taken from the best engineer on the planet...MOTHER NATURE!!! Like the tentacles of a giant squid these cups form suction and as the adhesive dries it pulls the stair tread down and creates an unmatched bond between the surfaces.
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisNon-steamed American black walnut finished off with a custom blend of HWO. When the wood is sanded correctly and a non film forming finish is applied it really POPS!!! This is the way wood should look and feel. The use of wood promotes the health and well-being of mind and body. Based on studies carried out in Norway, Japan, Canada and Austria, wood seems to have positive effects on the emotional state of people. Environments with wooden structures cause a drop in blood pressure and pulse and have a calming effect.
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisReal American white oak wide plank flooring!!!! This cannot be matched by an out of a box product.....let us help you achieve a one of a kind floor that will compliment your home and truly make it yours!
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisAsh covered in osmo hard wax oil.....we trowel on the first coat then burnish it in hot and fast with a buffer.....this product allows the wood to look and feel how wood should. Plus with proper maintenance you will never need to resand the floor again, only re-oil costs as the floor ages building that hard to recreate patina that everyone is after!
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisHandmade and designed onsite!!!!! The staircase is the largest piece of furniture in the home!
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisAsh finished with hard wax oil.....this is how hardwood floors should look, alive and crisp with depth and movement.
-
Dan O'Connor shared thisNatural HWO being troweled into this ash floor, leave those old film forming finishes behind. This process allows the wood to act like wood not wood under plastic.....if maintained properly sanding will not be needed again, only periodical maintenance coats are needed depending on the level of traffic that your floor sees. This is how to build up that beautiful patina that is so desired.......

Dan O'Connor liked thisDan O'Connor liked this"The fact that this photo was taken the day after voters in #Georgia chose the first Black person and the first Jewish person in the history of that state to serve in the Senate; that it shows a man walking past the portrait of a vice president who urged the country to sustain human bondage and another portrait of a senator who was nearly beaten to death for standing up to the slavocracy; that it portrays a man walking with a Confederate flag while a mob of insurrectionists pushed past police, broke windows, vandalized offices, stole property, and strolled through the halls of Congress for hours, forcing senators and representatives into hiding and stopping the certification of the electoral process—it is almost difficult to believe that so much of our history, and our current moment, was reflected in a single photograph. "This photo seemed to capture the divide between who we purport to be and who we have actually been, the gap between our founding promises and our current reality." -Clint Smith, The Atlantic ---> https://lnkd.in/eUiYRcC

DID YOU KNOW THAT WE AT TRE Construction SPECIALIZE AND SELF PERFORM IN EXTERIOR BUILDING ENVELOPE. At TRE Construction, we approach exterior work from the perspective of complete envelope performance, not just installation. Our exterior scope regularly includes: ▪ Cold-Formed Metal Framing (CFMF) ▪ Exterior sheathing systems ▪ Commercial window installation ▪ Sheet-applied and fluid-applied air barriers ▪ Rain screen siding systems ▪ Sunshade / sunscreen façade systems ▪ Architectural cladding systems including: • Metal panels • Fiber cement • Terra cotta • Phenolic panels • ACM and composite panels ▪ Girt and sub-framing systems for cladding ▪ Flashings and waterproofing transitions ▪ Joint sealants and perimeter air sealing Where we create the most value is during preconstruction. When envelope systems are coordinated early, the project team can avoid major problems later. If you're working on a project with complex exterior systems, we’re always happy to collaborate early and help bring the envelope together.

TIPS ME NOW 2025👷♂️ For cold and wet climates, use moisture-resistant drywall (green/purple board), foil-backed panels, and fire-resistant 5/8" thick boards combined with vapor barriers and specialized joint compounds. These materials prevent moisture absorption, sagging, and mold growth while maintaining structural integrity in challenging conditions. Key Drywall Materials for Harsh Climates 1. Moisture-Resistant Drywall (Green/Purple Board) • Features water-repellent paper facings and mold-resistant gypsum cores. • Ideal for bathrooms, basements, and exterior soffits. 2. Foil-Backed Gypsum Panels • Contains a vapor-retardant aluminum layer to prevent condensation. • Critical for ceilings in cold climates where warm indoor air meets cold exterior surfaces. 3. Fire-Resistant 5/8" Drywall • Thicker panels resist sagging in humid conditions. • Mandatory for garages and exterior-facing walls in many building codes. Installation Best Practices • Temperature Control: Maintain ≥55°F (13°C) for 48+ hours before/during installation. • Vapor Barriers: Install faced insulation batts behind ceiling drywall before panel installation to prevent condensation. • Ventilation: Use central heating instead of unvented heaters to avoid moisture buildup. Specialized Finishing Materials • Setting-Type Joint Compounds: ◦ Harden chemically rather than drying, preventing moisture-related failures. ◦ Required for exterior ceiling joints and critical light areas. • Latex Additives: Improve flexibility of final coats to prevent temperature-induced cracking. For extreme conditions like coastal areas or sub-zero climates, combine these materials with exterior-grade primers/paints and continuous insulation systems.

Professional Coating Systems • 517 followers
In this short video, David Estes walks through a real-world example of a commercial roof in the Denver area that’s a perfect candidate for a silicone coating system. This roof is structurally sound but showing signs of aging—exactly the sweet spot where a coating system delivers the most value. Instead of a costly tear-off and replacement, a silicone coating can restore and protect the existing roof, sealing leaks, handling ponding water, and extending its life by 10, 15, or even 20 years.

Stock vs. Custom Cabinets: What’s the Right Fit? Choosing cabinets? Here’s a quick guide to help you decide: Stock Cabinets - Budget-friendly - Quick delivery - Standard sizes + finishes - Great for remodels or tight timelines Custom Cabinets - Built to fit your exact space - Fully customizable (materials, style, features) - Premium craftsmanship - Perfect for high-end homes or unique layouts Builder Tip: Blend both! Use stock for the main layout and custom elements for standout features like an island or built-ins. Have questions on cabinetry for your next project? “Lifetime Warranty” rarely means what homeowners think it means. In remodeling, the phrase sounds comprehensive — almost reassuring. But in most cases, it isn’t. Many lifetime warranties cover materials only, not labor. And they’re typically valid only if the product was installed exactly according to the manufacturer’s specifications. One missed step, one skipped detail, and a claim can be denied. The product absolutely matters. But installation quality matters just as much — sometimes more. A warranty should be viewed as a safety net, not the primary strategy for protection. The real protection is proper planning, correct installation, and accountability from the contractor doing the work. If you’re relying on a warranty without understanding the fine print, you may not be as protected as you think.

Apparently Division 27 feels like a secret society… so here’s the history lesson nobody asked for. In 1963, the Construction Specifications Institute created the original 16 Divisions. IT didn’t exist yet. Yes, Gen Z… there were wires. Yes, they were called cables. No, there was no Internet. Trust me. It’s true. If you were born after 1997, this part may feel fictional. Here were the original 16: 1 – General Requirements 2 – Site Work 3 – Concrete 4 – Masonry 5 – Metals 6 – Wood & Plastics 7 – Thermal & Moisture Protection 8 – Doors & Windows 9 – Finishes 10 – Specialties 11 – Equipment 12 – Furnishings 13 – Special Construction 14 – Conveying Systems 15 – Mechanical 16 – Electrical Notice something? Nothing about data. Nothing about networks. Nothing about connectivity. Division 16 basically said: “Here’s power. Figure it out.” Then 2004 happened. CSI expanded from 16 divisions to 50. And Division 27 was officially born. Communications. Structured cabling. Fiber backbone. Racks & cabinets. Network infrastructure. So you could say: Pre-2004 = B.C. (Before Connectivity) Post-2004 = A.D. (After Data) Division 27 didn’t exist before 2004. The internet wasn’t even baptized yet. Gen Z has never known a world without Wi-Fi. Some of us remember when the connection made noise. And now I live in the division that makes sure your smart building is actually smart. And when the Wi-Fi works on Day One, nobody notices. Until it doesn’t. #Division27 #Construction #CRE #NYCRE #NJCRE #ITInfrastructure

Over the past few weeks, the conversations we’re having with clients across the building materials industry have sounded very similar. Leaders are focused on questions like: • Do we have enough bench strength on our team? • If someone leaves tomorrow, who steps in? • Are we staffed for the growth we’re expecting this year? • Do we have the right people in the right seats heading into the busy season? And almost every conversation includes this question: “What are you seeing out there right now in recruiting?” That’s where having a real pulse on the market matters. Because we speak with industry professionals every day including sales leaders, operations managers, executives, and emerging talent, we’re able to share real-time market intel with our clients about what’s happening across the industry. Where companies are growing. Where talent is sitting. What roles are hardest to fill right now. And when it’s time to hire, the focus is simple: deliver quickly and deliver quality. Demand right now is so strong that we’re actually hiring internally at SnapDragon Associates to keep up with the demand (DM me if recruiting could be of interest to you!). It’s a busy time in the industry, and I always enjoy these conversations with clients as they think through how to strengthen their teams. We are grateful to be a part of those conversations! Most installers and contractors are still treating waterproofing like it’s “good enough.” That mindset is costing you money, callbacks, and credibility. If your shower system is just barely passing — you’re not building a business, you’re surviving one. The difference between getting by and standing out comes down to systems. That’s where Profilitec Showertec changes the game. Showertec isn’t just another waterproofing product. It’s a complete, engineered system designed to eliminate the common failure points we see every day in the field: • No guesswork on slope or drainage • Integrated waterproofing components that actually work together • Faster, more consistent installs • Cleaner finishes that clients notice immediately And here’s what really matters — it positions you differently. When you offer a true system instead of pieced-together materials, you’re no longer competing on price. You’re competing on quality, reliability, and professionalism. That means: Fewer failures and warranty calls Higher-end projects and clients Better margins on your jobs A reputation that separates you from the “just get it done” crowd In today’s market, installers who evolve win. The ones who don’t get stuck fixing the same problems over and over. If you’re serious about leveling up your shower installs, it’s time to stop thinking in parts and start thinking in systems.

✋🏾 Small to Medium Drywall Contractors — Have you ever used a cheap takeoff service? You get quantities back. Square footage. Counts. Looks clean. Looks efficient. But then what? You’re still the one: Figuring labor hours Building production rates Planning crew sizes Scheduling the work Reviewing specs Catching scope gaps Putting together the meat and potatoes of the job So let me ask you something honestly. What are you actually saving? If you’re still doing most of the work… 👉 is your time not worth anything? 👉 is your knowledge not valuable? Let’s go a step further. What is your time actually worth? $75/hour? $100/hour? More? And how many hours are you spending finishing that estimate? 5 hours? 8 hours? That’s $400… $800… $1,000+ of your time… on top of a “cheap” takeoff. So again… what are you actually saving? Because here’s the truth. 👉 Incomplete estimating is one of the leading causes of cost overruns in construction 👉 And most contractors are operating on 5–15% margins So small gaps… become big losses. We’re not calling you out. We’ve been there. Trying to make numbers work. Learning the hard way. But here’s the difference with an estimating partner. We don’t need to be trained. We come to you with the questions. The right ones. Can you answer them? Because after 20+ years estimating drywall projects, we know: What GCs are looking for Where scope gets buried What gets missed Where the traps are You’ve probably fallen into a few already. We work to help you stay out of them. That’s what you’re paying for. 👉 Not just numbers 👉 Not just speed 👉 Experience 👉 Process 👉 Foresight Or not. Your choice. If you want to build it yourself: ✔ Budget Breakdown (full cost structure) ✔ Product Data (materials, gauges, systems) ✔ SFIA Manual (framing standards) ✔ Takeoff Tutorials (step-by-step process) 👉 https://lnkd.in/g2HuuWXW If you’d rather not piece it together: Level 1 — Quantities Level 2 — Materials + pricing Level 3 — Labor + full cost Level 4 — Turnkey estimate 👉 https://lnkd.in/gmgpbSjz If you’re comfortable doing it this way, keep going. If not… there are other ways to approach it. Cheap looks efficient… until you factor in your time. And sometimes… that’s the most expensive part. #DrywallContractors #DrywallEstimating #ConstructionEstimating #WallAndCeilingContractors

— Scope Is Where Profit Leaks Drywall Contractor Owners — Do you want clear scope before you sign a contract? 🤲🏾 Most margin loss happens because of scope confusion. Scope = what you are responsible for. If it’s not written clearly, you pay for it. Backing. Fire caulk. Above-ceiling framing. Protection. If it’s not clarified before bid, it becomes yours later. Contractors call asking: • “Should I exclude this?” • “Is this my scope?” That’s the proof. An estimating partner has seen these mistakes before. 🤝🏾 We send RFIs. We write exclusions. We define scope in writing. Review the (4) Bid Packages and choose your level. The promise? On-time. Detailed. Profit-protecting bids. Every time. 👉🏾 https://lnkd.in/gmgpbSjz #DrywallContractor #ConstructionLeadership #DrywallBusinessOwner #EstimatingSupport
