I'll never forgot receiving this photo taken the moment he walked free from the remote Kigali prison where I had first met him in late 2022. What an amazing moment! This is a story with a hard-fought happy ending that gives a lot of hope to American families who currently have a loved one wrongfully detained. Akin Pro Bono James W. Chuck Wilkins reposted thisChuck Wilkins reposted thisMarcus A.R. Childress—former senior advisor and special counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee—has joined Akin in Washington, D.C. as a partner and co-head of the congressional investigations practice, working alongside Abby Kohlman, who has also been named co-head of the group. Marcus and Abby expand Akin’s premier platform for guiding clients through the escalating convergence of congressional inquiries, parallel DOJ investigations and high‑stakes civil litigation. Commenting on the move, Akin co-chair Abid Qureshi said, “The demand for sophisticated oversight counsel is only growing. By combining Marcus’s recent experiences leading sensitive investigations on Capitol Hill with Abby’s DOJ background, our clients will have the benefit of extraordinary insights from different sides of the investigative ecosystem. This strategy continues to differentiate both our congressional investigations practice and our broader investigations, litigation and regulatory capabilities.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gVTiHE2H #CongressionalInvestigations #Investigations

Chuck Wilkins reposted thisOur take on the Department-Wide VSD program, the first time in history the DAG's office has aligned nearly all DOJ components to one policy. #DOJ #Akin #WhiteCollar #InvestigationsChuck Wilkins reposted thisOn March 10, 2026, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) published its “first-ever” Department-wide Corporate Enforcement and Voluntary Self-Disclosure Policy (the “Department-wide CEP”), which will apply to all corporate criminal cases, with the exception of antitrust matters. The Department-wide CEP is designed to incentivize corporate self-reporting by providing benefits—including a presumption of declination of criminal prosecution—to companies that timely voluntarily disclose potential misconduct, fully cooperate with the DOJ’s investigation and remediate any misconduct. The new policy builds upon and expands the Criminal Division CEP, which was most-recently revised in May 2025. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dWyKxPVF By: James J. Chuck Wilkins liked thisChuck Wilkins liked thisOver the last year, I’ve started traveling around the country with my soon-to-be-wife hunting the darkest skies in rural areas during the new moon cycle-where moonlight won’t interfere with a camera’s ability to capture the Milky Way in all its glory. I realized something while sitting under the quiet dark skies in my first year as an SDR leader. Astrophotography 🤝 SDR Leadership Bear with me. When you’re shooting the night sky, you’re not just “taking pictures.” You’re battling uncertainty, noise, and variables you can’t control such as clouds and rain. Sound familiar? As an SDR Manager, I’ve realized the parallels are undeniable: Patience compounds results. You don’t capture the Milky Way in one shot—and you don’t build pipeline in one call block. It’s about consistent exposure over time. Clarity requires focus. If your lens is even slightly off, if the tripod moves in the wind, everything is blurry. Same goes for your team. Without clear ICP and messaging, you’re just spraying into the void. Embrace the dark. The best shots happen in the darkest conditions. The toughest quarters? That’s where real growth happens. Stack small wins. Great astro images are just hundreds of imperfect frames stacked together. Sound like outbound yet? Control what you can. You can’t control the clouds, but you can control your setup, your prep, and your mindset. Same in sales. At the end of the day, whether it’s stars or sales, success isn’t about luck, it’s about showing up, dialing in your process, and trusting the long exposure. Curious—what hobbies have made you better at your job? And yes, that’s a photo I took this summer in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia #SDR #Leadership #Astrophotography #Pipeline #GrowthMindset

The FAR Council has proposed revisions to FAR Part 33, which covers protests, disputes and appeals. The updates aim to streamline procedures, adding agency notification of protests, limited access to redacted source selection decisions at higher-level review and direct references to the GAO's bid protest rules without altering the fundamental protest/dispute framework. Akin international trade partner Tyler Grove will speak at the upcoming webinar, Navigating the BIS 50% Rule – Compliance, Risk and Strategic Implications, hosted by Control Risks on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) has introduced a transformative update to its export control framework: the BIS 50% Rule, also known as the Affiliates Rule. This rule significantly expands the scope of restrictions by applying them to any entity that is 50% or more owned—directly or indirectly—by a listed party, even if the entity itself is not named on the BIS Entity List. This webinar will discuss practical discussions on: · What the BIS 50% Rule means for your organization · How to identify hidden risks in ownership structures · Steps to strengthen your compliance and due diligence programs · Real-world examples of enforcement vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies. Examiners continue to rely on the USPTO’s current guidance on the definiteness standard set forth by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in In re Maatita, that ignores the Federal Circuit’s broader instruction—reasonable certainty is all that is required to satisfy the requirements of 35 U.S.C. § 112, not the specific type or quantities of views that the Applicant has chosen to use.
