The changes kick in as the program, which began as a pilot, becomes a permanent initiative, according to a Military OneSource webpage. During the pilot, which began in January 2023 and was called the Military Spouse Career Accelerator Pilot, spouses participated in 12-week fellowships and received a stipend as compensation. Under the permanent program, participants will earn 50% more than during the pilot, spouses living abroad will be eligible to apply, and fellows will be matched with a career coach. In its first year, 85% of participants had a full-time job offer from the company they were matched with during the pilot. Beth Conlin shared this12 years ago an overseas move to Germany cost me my career and lit a fire under me that continues to burn. I was told that due to the Status of Forces Agreement, I could not work. Unable to find any proof for or against that claim I was forced to quit my job. I spent the next 10 years working with DoD, DoS , Congress, lawyers, and 3 administrations to remove barriers caused by the SOFA. Last night I was awarded Achiever of the year honoring this work. On January 17th, 2025 DoD finally released a memo clarifying that not only could military spouses work overseas but the SOFA has no impact on employment. I was constantly told “the SOFA is too hard, too messy, too big to solve”. Just because problems are hard doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to solve them. As Dr. Jill Biden says,“Military families deserve the same commitment from us that they give to us.” Thanks to those along the way that coached and advised me and to those that simply shared my frustration. Beth Conlin shared thisOn this Giving Tuesday I’m supporting Secure Families Initiative. A short list of some of the things they have done to support military families: ✅Led successful litigation blocking federal voting restrictions that would have harmed military voters stationed abroad. This allows our military families overseas to keep their voices in our elections regardless of where the military sends them. ✅SFI Provided testimony in the LA National Guard case. This establish precedent against domestic military deployments. ✅SFI was part of the coalition effort that finally got the repeal of two dangerous, outdated war authorizations included in this year's National Defense bill. This will make it harder for Presidents to unilaterally throw Americans into new wars. ✅Lastly and dear to my heart: We're finally making progress toward military spouses being able to volunteer as poll workers! Earlier this year, Kansas became the first state in the nation to expand poll working to families stationed away from home. SFI's testimony was key to pushing this bill across the finish line. We were able to shine a bright light on our military community and highlight their impacts on the business and our culture. 100s of events where held globally and I was lucky enough to attend our kick off in Nashville with Operation Song and Operation Green Light and wrap up with the Patriots, Salute to Service game. Ryan Pitts and the Medal of Honor Foundation were able to attend the game making an amazing week extra special. Too add the sweetest cherry on top. We had a tiny George W. Bush Presidential Center VLP reunion with Elizabeth Pletcher, LMSW, PMP and Ian McDuffie If you are looking for innovators, builders, community boosters, and culture enhancers- look no further than your military community. Traci Alexander I’m not sure. I’ll ask the organizers. Basically the source of confusion was decades of fear mongering and the inability to “prove” the SOFA didn’t interfere with employment as it was never stated anywhere. It is now 😄

Beth Conlin reacted on thisBeth Conlin reacted on thisToday marks a meaningful transition for me as I step into a promotion and new role as Senior Director, Strategic Impact & Engagement at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation within our Hiring Our Heroes initiative. Over the past seven years, I’ve had the honor of helping to lead our Military Spouse Program alongside some of the most dedicated professionals I’ve worked with. What started as a focused effort has grown into a national workforce movement, advancing economic opportunity and long-term career pathways for military spouses across the country. That progress is a direct reflection of an extraordinary team and a community of partners who continue to push this work forward every day. This has never been about one person, it has always been about a team and a mission that continues to grow. I’m proud of what we’ve built, and even more excited to see where the team takes it next. While this transition is bittersweet, I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow and to focus more deeply on translating strategy into high-impact engagement, strengthening partnerships, and advancing the platforms that drive both mission and revenue across our national efforts. Thank you to Eric Eversole, Elizabeth O., and Melissa Sanderson for your tremendous leadership, mentorship, and the opportunity to continue contributing to this important work. On to the next chapter. Ready to get to work.

The weather was perfect, and we took a team bike ride touring the monuments under the cherry blossoms. I’ll admit I wasn’t sure a team bike ride would be well received, but Paige (who did a fantastic job organizing the offsite, and insisted it would be great) was right, and it was nothing short of perfect. I love these opportunities to connect with the team, and as the team is distributed (to be closer to customers and partners across states and countries), it’s a somewhat rare opportunity for my team to get to connect with each other in person. We spent a lot of time focused on ways AI and large partnerships can help drive business forward. And perhaps paradoxically, as we focus on tech first solutions, it is increasingly obvious that the best way to do that is often through human to human collaboration. The world is moving so fast, but connection with people you trust to experiment, push on ideas, and riff feels even more important. (That and doc reads. It is Amazon, after all…) I’m typing this back on the airplane, thinking about how humbled I feel by the leaders I get the privilege to work alongside, and feeling inspired.
