Personalize an InMail message template with AI assistance in Recruiter

You can use AI assistance in LinkedIn Recruiter to refine your existing InMail templates and create personalized drafts that include relevant candidate details with the template touch up feature.

Who can use this feature?

This feature is available to draft initial recruiting outreach messages that use an English template with more than 300 characters. LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services (RPS) customers can only touch up a template in 1:1 messages, not bulk messages. The template touch up feature is unavailable for messages to applicants, apply starters, shared applicants, or internal candidates.

The AI-Assisted Messages feature touches up existing templates into a draft message based on candidate details and job context. You can customize language, tone, and included elements before sending. Candidates won’t be notified that the message was drafted using AI. Drafting an AI-assisted message from a template saves you time, enhances message personalization, and helps you connect with candidates more effectively.

Important to know

When you use AI-Assisted Messages to draft bulk messages, any manual edits you make to one draft apply only to that message, not to all drafts. Please review and edit each AI-generated draft individually.

To personalize an InMail message template:

  1. Click the  Compose icon on a candidate's profile. 

    • Alternatively, select up to 25 candidates to message and click Message at the top of the list of candidates.
  2. Click the Search for a template… and select a template from the dropdown.

  3. Click Touch up with AI or Touch up all with AI at the bottom of the message to refine it. AI-Assisted Messages will incorporate relevant candidate information into your draft to create a personalized message.

  4. Optional: Click the  Refresh icon to redraft the message. Click the  Next icon below the message drafts to review the AI drafts or click the  Previous icon below the message draft to navigate back to the template in its original state.

  5. Optional: Add a follow-up message. By default, follow-up messages are sent 7 days after the initial message if the candidate didn’t reply to your initial message. The same follow-up message will be sent to all recipients, and any changes you make will apply for all. The AI-assisted bulk follow-up messages feature is currently available to LinkedIn Recruiter and LinkedIn Recruiter Professional Services Plus (RPS+) customers.

    • Click Follow-up, then click draft with AI in the message body.
    • Click the  Draft settings icon at the bottom of the follow-up message to adjust the message length and tone.
    • Click Advanced settings to customize the content included in the follow-up message.
  6. Click each recipient’s name at the top of the message to see a preview of each personalized message draft.

  7. Click Send to deliver the initial InMail and schedule the follow-up message.
