  • This weekend, we invite our community to come together for something bigger than a workout. The YMCA Hero Challenge: “The Kerrie” honors the legacy of Kerrie Orozco, a dedicated Omaha Police Officer who lost her life in the line of duty, and recognizes the courage of female first responders and military members. This event, held during Women’s History Month, is an opportunity to reflect, connect and challenge ourselves physically and mentally. 📍 Saturday, March 21 • Benjamin Harrison YMCA – 8:30 a.m. • Fishers YMCA – 8:30 a.m. • Jordan YMCA (taking place on the Monon) – 9 a.m. ✔️ Open to all fitness levels ✔️ Scalable and team-friendly 💲 $35 per participant We hope you’ll join us in honoring service, sacrifice and strength. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gV_9Yw9c. #Leadership #CommunityImpact #WomensHistoryMonth #YMCA #ServiceAndSacrifice #HealthAndWellbeing

  • Sometimes a small moment of fun can celebrate something meaningful. Our administrative team recently reached its internal goal for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis annual support campaign. To mark the moment, our chief development officer Justin Blackstone made good on a promise — with a pie to the face. Behind the cheers and laughter is something we’re really proud of. Many YMCA staff donate in support of our programs because we believe deeply in our vision for Indianapolis — a healthier, more equitable, more connected community. Together, we help ensure that families across our community can access YMCA programs, memberships and opportunities, regardless of financial circumstances. On Pi Day, we’re grateful for the generosity that helps make that possible. If you’d like to help expand access to the Y across our community, you can give here: https://indymca.org/donate #YMCA #PiDay #CommunityImpact #Philanthropy

  • Yesterday was something special. A crowd can fill a room, but only a community can fill it with meaning. That’s exactly what it felt like at the OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA during our Monster Meeting. The room was full, and you could feel right away that it was going to be a meaningful afternoon. Gabby Thomas shared thoughtful insight and real perspective that resonated throughout the room. Olivia West Speaks was phenomenal as moderator, guiding the conversation and creating space for it to unfold naturally. The conversation around mental health was honest and powerful. It was especially meaningful to have some of the brightest youth in our community in the room, asking thoughtful questions, engaging directly with Gabby and sharing their own perspectives on what mental health means to them. Those moments really stood out. Thank you to our donors, sponsors, volunteers and every guest and member who helped make it happen. It truly takes a community to bring something like this to life. We’re walking away from yesterday feeling inspired and grateful for how it all came together.

  • Welcome back, Abby! ❤️ The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis proudly welcomes Abigail Harlan as Executive Director of the Irsay Family YMCA at CityWay. A native Hoosier and bilingual nonprofit leader, Abigail began her Y journey in 2002 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. That first role sparked a lifelong commitment to service and community impact. Her career has included leadership with the YMCA of South Florida, Best Buddies International and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. She is passionate about building partnerships, developing staff and strengthening communities — always guided by caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Now, she returns to the Y where it all began, ready to serve the community that helped shape her path. Outside of work, Abigail is active with the Rotary Club of Indianapolis and the Eagle Creek Sailing Club. She lives in Zionsville with her partner, Rick and their dog, Suzie Q. Please join us in welcoming Abigail home to the Y family. #YMCA #YMCAIndy #CommunityLeadership #Indianapolis
