On March 24, Employees from multiple agencies around the Government Center participated in Indiana Sports Corp's Jim Morris Day of Service to help clean up Riverside Park. Guided by Jim’s words, “See opportunity in its largest possible context”, this day of service reflects his belief that sports, civic leadership, and community collaboration can be powerful tools for lasting change. Why March 24? Fun fact, it marks the date of the first NCAA Men's Final Four hosted in Indianapolis in 1980.

Congratulations to Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles's 2025 Branch of the Year Award winners! For this award the branches were divided into five divisions based on size. Each Branch of the Year winner stood out amongst 116 branches across Indiana for their customer experience time, customer satisfaction rating, and other factors. On #nationalpuppyday we’d like to highlight a special program at Indiana Department of Correction's Madison Correctional Facility. A.D.O.P.T. (A Dog on Prison Turf) is a no-kill shelter that partners incarcerated women with rescue dogs. The participants bathe, groom, train, and teach the pups tricks, giving them the love and care they need to become well-adjusted and ready for adoption. At the same time, the program helps the participants gain valuable skills and make a positive impact.

Shoutout to Indiana Law Enforcement Academy's Basic Training Class! Over 50 students took the plunge, and the entire class of more than 120 students came together to support and raise around $22,000 for Special Olympics Indiana. This marks the third year the academy has participated, and their largest number of participants yet!

In honor of National K-9 Veterans Day we’d like to recognize our furry partners that work alongside our K-9 officers. They are a great asset to our law enforcement agencies, and we appreciate their contributions to keeping Hoosiers safe!

Big congratulations to Indiana University Bloomington football coach Curt Cignetti on receiving Indiana’s highest honor, the 2026 Sachem Award, from Governor Mike Braun. Governor Braun also awarded every member of the undefeated 2025 championship-winning Indiana Hoosiers team with the Sagamore of the Wabash, accepted by Coach Cignetti and IU President Pamela Whitten.

Last Friday, we celebrated International Women’s Day at the Government Center with the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, in partnership with Asian American Alliance Inc.! The event celebrated the achievements of women everywhere with inspiring talks and networking opportunities. Special shoutout to Governor Mike Braun, First Lady Maureen Braun, Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner, and all the outstanding speakers and panelists who contributed to the event.
