Migrating UDFs to Velox can be slow and manual, unless you automate it. In this lightning talk at #VeloxCon, Miaojiang (MJ) Deng and Sandeep Thandassery from Meta will share a workflow where an AI agent generates C++ UDFs and validates them with differential fuzz testing against the original Java versions. The result: significantly faster migration with high confidence in correctness. We hope to see you TOMORROW! 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/

Bringing iteration into Velox 🔍 learn more at #VeloxCon Zhichen Xu, Ph.D., Junjie Q. and Jingfang Liu from Meta will explore how Velox can support iterative computation for workloads like clustering, graph processing, and agent pipelines. They’ll walk through how existing primitives (exchange, aggregation, vector ops) could be composed into iterative workflows, along with the challenges around coordination and state. Join us for a deeper look at how execution engines may evolve. 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/

💡 Making open source contribution loops faster (and less painful) At #VeloxCon, Krishna Pai (Meta) will share how the Velox CI pipeline is being rethought with faster feedback, cleaner signal, and AI built directly into the workflow. What’s changed: - CI feedback in minutes instead of hours - Better handling of flaky tests and clearer failure reports - LLMs reviewing PRs and explaining CI failures in plain English A practical look at how AI is improving the day-to-day experience of contributing to open source. 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/

👉 Bringing Presto, Spark, and Velox together At #VeloxCon, Shrinidhi Joshi (Meta) will take a deep dive into Project Sapphire (Presto-on-Spark) - a C++-based Presto engine running on Spark with Velox execution. The session covers how Sapphire extends Velox in key areas: - Shuffle integration tightly coupled with memory and serialization - Broadcast joins with reusable hash tables - Sorted shuffle and sort-merge join support Along with real production results showing performance gains over Presto’s Java engine. Join us! 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/

#VeloxCon is where graph, vector search, and SQL come together. In this lightning talk, Abdullah Ozturk and Vishal Gandhi from Meta will show how they built a Cypher-based query layer on Velox to run queries across graph stores, databases, and search systems. By mapping graph patterns to relational operations, they reuse Velox for execution and enable hybrid RAG workflows (vector + text + graph) in a single query. Excited to see more details! 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/

#VeloxCon Session Spotlight: Velox IO - Nimble Index & Open Table Formats Xiaoxuan M. (Meta) will share recent work on the Velox IO layer, focused on improving how data is stored, indexed, and accessed. That work includes: - A Nimble serializer for more efficient SST file encoding - Cluster keys and dense indexing for faster data access - Extending Velox connectors to support #Iceberg and #Paimon A great session if you’re thinking about storage formats, ingestion performance, and interoperability across the lakehouse ecosystem. 📅 April 29-30, 2026 📍 Meta HQ, Menlo Park https://veloxcon.io/
