Timberlab is delighted to share that Tanya Luthi has been promoted to Vice President & Director of Engineering at Timberlab.   With nearly two decades of structural engineering experience across steel, concrete, and mass timber systems, Tanya brings a multidisciplinary perspective to our team. Since joining Timberlab in 2023, she has helped advance how we approach delegated design, connection detailing, and coordination across complex project teams—ensuring alignment from early design through fabrication and installation.   In her expanded role, Tanya will continue to lead Timberlab’s engineering team while supporting the integration of our digital construction arm into our broader delivery model. This work is central to how we build with mass timber—linking detailed design, CNC fabrication, and field execution into a cohesive, buildable system.   As mass timber continues to grow in scale, this level of integration is becoming increasingly critical to ensure project success. Tom Lee Park is named for a Memphis hero who saved 32 lives from the Mississippi River in 1925. It is fitting that the park bearing his name has given the riverfront back to the city. We supplied Southern Yellow Pine glulam beams to Swinerton for the Sunset Canopy, a 16,000-square-foot timber pavilion at the heart of the park. The timber was a deliberate design choice, recalling the industrial history of the Memphis riverfront while bringing warmth and structure to a space built for community life. The new Multnomah County Library East County Library will open to the public in just a few short weeks. Totaling 93,000 square feet, the library is a heavy timber system designed to reflect the natural landscape and patterns of the Pacific Northwest. This building has been featured and celebrated not once, not twice, but three times as part of the International Mass Timber Conference's formal pre-conference tours. Our team has loved sharing the ins and outs of what it takes to bring such an incredible space to life, from pre-construction through to the completed structure. East County Library was a defining project for our team—an opportunity to engage early alongside a strong GC partner and carry the work through connection engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and on-site installation. The result is a cohesive, well-executed structure shaped by that integrated approach, and we look forward to welcoming the community into the space when it opens. Timberlab Sustainability Manager, Andrew Ratzke, who participated in the project, put it best during this year’s conference tours: “We’re really doing this backwards. We started as a construction company and have worked our way back up the supply chain to make working with mass timber as easy as possible, for everyone. On a really complex project like this, our director of engineering is having conversations with our senior superintendent to inform the design of details that will work in the field.
