What does a "dress code" really mean when fashion isn't designed for your body? For millions of people with disabilities, traditional dress codes are less about personal expression and more about daily physical barriers. On September 3rd, Open Style Lab's community gathered at the @Royal College of Art to celebrate our Dress Coded showcase, marking the culmination of an intensive 10-week Open Style Lab Fellowship. Our core mission has always been to bridge design, technology, and accessibility by creating functional, stylish clothing directly with and by disabled people. This cohort brought together 4 multidisciplinary teams, each collaborating directly with a Disabled Expert to tackle real-world barriers through true co-design. Bringing this vision to life took a massive collective effort. Huge thanks to everyone who made it possible: * Leadership: Our Programme Director, Ellen Fowles, whose orchestration, guidance, and continuous care supported our Fellows every single step of the way. * Our Venue Partner: Royal College of Art for hosting us and setting the perfect stage for inclusive innovation. * A special thank you to our sponsors & Partners: Steve Madden Jordan Somer for your constant support in our mission The National Lottery Community Fund for supporting our community event, ALVANON and Janice Wang for your mentorship and support, and all of our partners whose support fuels this movement. * Special thanks to Jennifer Holloway and Fashion-Enter Ltd/ FashionCapital where the making happened! * Volunteers & Community: Our incredible volunteer crew whose energy, hands-on help, and hard work behind the scenes kept everything running smoothly. Huge congratulations to all of our Fellows for their dedication, creativity, and ground-breaking work! 🥂 Watch the cohort highlights and see the designs in action: https://lnkd.in/eqjTnjru We’d love to hear from you: How can we reframing traditional "dress codes" in fashion and workplaces to prioritise accessibility, comfort, and true inclusion? #NYFW, but make it Steve Madden. Last Thursday, we took over our SoHo store in NYC for an afternoon of bedazzling, engraving, and shopping. We celebrated our partnerships with creators, influencers, and media and activated the store space for all shoppers looking for the perfect pair. Special thanks to everyone who made this special event even sweeter.

Sitting all day? Not our style. Our latest SM Wellness event put movement front and center with mobility classes and one-on-one assessments led by Gabriel from Oshode Health & Fitness. Throughout the day, employees enjoyed onsite massage therapy, a DIY trail mix bar, and a jumping jacks challenge that brought a little friendly competition into the mix. We loved making space in the workday for our employees to move more, and support their health and wellness.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 Steve Madden Internship Program! Last week marked the end of our annual summer internship program, celebrating 10 weeks with an incredible group of 63 interns who brought fresh ideas to teams across design, sales, marketing, operations, and beyond. Since joining us in June, our interns have jumped into every opportunity that came their way—from Lunch & Learns and retail visits to a scavenger hunt through the world of Steve Madden and a visit to Pinterest. Along the way, they connected with teams across the company, explored different sides of the business, and brought their own perspectives to the table. One of our favorite moments came at the end of the summer with the annual Capstone Project, where interns teamed up to develop innovative ideas and present them to leaders across the company. Watching their ideas come to life and seeing their confidence grow throughout the process was incredibly rewarding. A special thank you to everyone who helped make this program possible: our mentors, leaders, speakers, judges, and all of the Steve Madden teams who welcomed our interns and shared their time and expertise. To our 2026 intern class: thank you for making this summer so special! We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see where you go next.

Introducing ASK STEVE, a new creative platform inspired by the energy, attitude, and fashion culture of late-'90s and early-2000s New York City. Centered around one simple truth: that choosing the right shoes is never a small decision, ASK STEVE transforms everyday style dilemmas into humorous "shoe emergencies" through cinematic storytelling, interactive consumer experiences, and a healthy dose of nostalgia. Inspired by the countless shoe questions Steve has received throughout his career, the activation invites consumers to turn to Steve for advice on their own everyday "shoe emergencies." Across every touchpoint, the campaign celebrates the confidence, spontaneity, and optimism that made Steve Madden a cultural icon, and reminds us that it's never too late to buy more shoes.
