  • How can industrial companies go green AND boost their profitability? Eryn Thomas Devola, our Head of Sustainability, and Katja Grimme from IDC answer this in an eye-opening discussion on the Talking Digital Industries Podcast. They explain that circularity isn't just a buzzword; it's a fundamental shift in how we design, produce and use products. Eryn points out, "Circularity is no longer a nice-to-have." It's about making products last longer, reusing materials and even creating new business models around these principles. Katja adds that digitalization, particularly Industrial AI, is not just an enabler but a "game changer." A digital-first approach provides the crucial lifecycle data transparency needed to oversee the full lifecycle of goods and assets, from design to end-of-life. This isn't just good for the planet; it's a strategic move for business resilience and innovation. To listen, visit the comments .🎧

  • Coamo Agroindustrial Cooperativa didn't become one of the largest agro-industrial cooperative in Latin America by thinking small. Their commitment to growth and sustainability by supporting rural producers and the land they develop requires big ambitions for technical innovations and modernization projects. 🌱🚜 One of their most recent challenges was finding the right planning and scheduling solution while constructing a new feed mill. Just like the hiring and building processes, the team would be starting with this solution from scratch and needed to get it up and running quickly to monitor, balance and manage demand, capacity and inventory. They found their technical foundation with help from LSB, a Siemens partner, who worked with them to implement Opcenter Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) software from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. With a three-stage solution for finite production planning, material requirements calculation and detailed production scheduling in place, Coamo's new mill stood as an example of operational achievement, competitive innovation and a commitment to excellence and quality, reporting: ⏱️ A reduction of MPS, MRP and scheduling cycle times from hours to 10 minutes ⏩ Sped up processes of approximately 5 minutes with user interactions 🔎 More holistic, real-time views of the entire production process with ERP integration 👍 Decreased production interruptions and materials losses with a just-in-time (JIT) concept for fine production scheduling

  • Data-driven decision-making requires more than just a connection between systems; so, once digital threads are in place, what's next? 🤔❓🔢 Dale Tutt, our VP of industry strategy, and Farid Monemi Bichareh, IoT and digital engineering senior solution director at Tata Consultancy Services, provided an answer through a different kind of shift: AI-led unification. The concept is built on three core pillars: 📊 Data-first: Establishing a unified data model, like a Unified Namespace (UNS), to structure and contextualize all enterprise data 1️⃣ AI-first: Infusing advanced analytics, predictive capabilities and generative AI across an entire value chain 🧠 AI-led: Employing a unified user experience, powered by agentic AI, as the orchestration layer across systems, processes and personas This new approach to enterprise architecture empowers seamless integrations, more operational autonomy and new ways to innovate and collaborate every day. And that's just the basics! 🔗⬇️ for all the insights.

  • To feed 10 billion people sustainably, we have to look to the blue 70% of our planet. 🌊 By 2050, global food production will require another 50% increase. While aquaculture is the fastest-growing protein sector, traditional near-shore farming is hitting its limits. The solution? Offshore fish farming. Aker Solutions is redefining offshore aquaculture by putting "fish first." Designing a structure that rivals the Colosseum and withstands 27-meter waves is an engineering feat—but ensuring the well-being of 1 million salmon inside it is a computational challenge. Using Simcenter STAR-CCM+, Aker Solutions has developed a world-first CFD methodology that includes: 🐟 Digital twin technology: Simulating the interaction between massive nets and ocean currents 🐟 Coupled DEM (discrete element method): Modeling the movement and behavior of a swarm of 1 million fish to see how they impact local oxygen levels and water quality 🐟 High-fidelity physics: Using morphing and overset meshes to study individual fish propulsion (6-DOF) and its effect on the cage environment By moving "fish first" into the digital design phase, Aker Solutions isn't just building structures—they are engineering a more ethical, sustainable, and productive future for the world’s protein.
