Our teams have been busy supporting our communities as Shook celebrates 100 Acts of Service for 100 Years of Service! To honor our 100-Year Anniversary, Shook teams are completing 100 Acts of Service throughout 2026 as our way of giving back to the communities that have supported us along the way. Here’s an update on Acts 14-18: 🔸As part of our commitment to supporting workforce development, Great Lakes teammates met with students from the Latino Construction Program (Spanish American Committee). Students were introduced to key aspects of the construction industry and learned how to interpret blueprint drawings. 🔸Central team members partnered with Walbridge to assist a senior citizen in need in Indiana. The team rebuilt her driveway by regrading it, placing new stone, and creating a small parking area. 🔸A 10-member Shook Mission Trip team, representing each of our regions, traveled to Parramos, Guatemala, to partner with Hope For Home, a nonprofit dedicated to serving children with disabilities and their families. Working with local contractors, the team built a retention wall as part of new therapy and living space that will serve up to 15 children. 🔸Great Lakes teams working on an industrial project hosted a site tour for students from the Latino Construction Program (Spanish American Committee). The tour gave participants a firsthand look at construction operations and highlighted progress at the site. 🔸More than 20 Shook teammates volunteered at the Big Hoopla STEM Challenge leading up to the NCAA’s First Four games in Dayton. Hundreds of K–8 students explored science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on demonstrations, with our team introducing construction principles such as concrete formwork, electrical circuits, water tower engineering, and equipment operation. Stay tuned to see what we do next in our 100 Acts of Service! #ShookMission #Shook100

We were proud to take part in the dedication ceremony for the Hamilton, Ohio, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic. Shook served as the general contractor for the project, which provides services for about 4,200 veterans and their families. The 24,000-square-foot, single-story center includes 37 patient exam rooms, along with audiology, mental health, optometry, physical therapy, laboratory, pharmacy, and support spaces. Keynote speaker Zachary Sage, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, said the center’s convenient location will allow even more veterans and families to access support and services. Thank you to CBLH Design Inc., West Second Street Associates, and our trade partners for helping make this project a reality. #CommericalConstruction #Healthcare #Cincinnati

Construction is well under way at the Wilkesboro Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvement Project in North Carolina. The major upgrade will be key to improving efficiencies at the facility, which plays an essential role in bringing clean water to the region. Shook Construction is a trade partner to Ulliman Schutte Construction, CMAR for the Town of Wilkesboro. This improvement project includes a new Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) advanced biological treatment process and Control Building. Shook’s mass excavation at the AGS basin is complete, along with encasement of the pipe drain. Installation of the process tank’s concrete mat is progressing, too. The project’s scope also includes: 🔹Extensive pipe work, both new and modifications to existing pipe 🔹Construction of a UV disinfection structure and effluent metering vault 🔹Conversion and improvements to current digestor tanks 🔹Two new electrical buildings 🔹New 30-inch effluent lines 🔹Modifications to existing influent pump station, headworks building, and waste active sludge pump station Shook is proud to collaborate with Ulliman Schutte Construction, engineering parter HDR, and all our great trade partners on this important project for the region! #CommericalConstruction #NorthCarolina #WaterResources

Our team has been home from Guatemala for just over a week now. The team completed the mission it set out to accomplish and so much more! They came home with a new perspective and deep appreciation for how much kindness and generosity can improve people’s lives. Before departing, the team was able to present the Hope For Home organization with a gift that will help countless children, thanks to the generosity of all Shook team members. During their stay, the Mission Trip team learned that limb loss in children in Guatemala — often connected to infection or chronic illness — is a significant issue, creating a large need for prosthetics. Because children grow quickly, the custom devices provided to kids at Hope For Home often become unusable in a short period of time. While the organization had 3D scanning and printing capabilities, the staff needed a new iPad to run the scanning and design software. With the funds donated by Shook teammates, the Mission Trip team was able to locally source a brand new iPad and surprise the Hope For Home staff with it on their final evening there. The team was overjoyed to leave something behind that will continue supporting the children long after Shook's departure. This chapter is closing, but the story is not finished — and the impact made on our team will last a lifetime!
