About us
We believe that when access to quality mental healthcare improves, patients, providers, and payers all benefit. And that’s why we’re on a mission to make mental healthcare work for everyone. We remove barriers and strengthen connection points between patients, providers, and payers to improve mental health outcomes. With Rula, it’s easy for patients to find a high-quality therapist or psychiatric practitioner who meets their unique needs, accepts insurance, and is taking new patients. For providers, Rula offers the flexibility of private practice, while also filling caseloads and offering the necessary behind-the-scenes support. Rula handles the marketing, credentialing, billing, and admin tasks so providers can focus on what they do best: providing care to those in need. Rula is a remote-first company with teams who specialize in the areas of Clinical, Partnerships, Operations, Marketing, Engineering, Product, and more. We’re committed to reimagining how mental health is treated.

On the first day of Mental Health Awareness Month, let's acknowledge a universal truth: Quality mental healthcare should be accessible for everyone. Full stop. So why are there still so many barriers getting in the way? We’ve been asking that question for a while, so we went looking for answers. And soon, we’re sharing what we found. On May 8, we’ll be releasing our first-ever State of Mind Report — a deep dive into the current realities of mental health access in the United States and discussing: ➡️ What’s helping people? ➡️ What’s still getting in the way? ➡️ How do we close the gap between needing care and actually getting it? Stay tuned — we can't wait to share the results with you.

From inflexible workflows to limited resources, many systems still aren’t built to support how neurodivergent brains think, communicate, and operate. We’re continuing the conversation with this week’s poll: What's the biggest barrier to neurodivergent folks feeling fully supported in the workplace?

As mental health language evolves, so does the way we talk about the brain. 🧠 You’ve likely seen the terms “neurodivergent” and “neurotypical” becoming more common — but what do they actually mean? At a foundational level, they recognize what many providers already know: no two brains work exactly the same way. And those differences deserve understanding, not judgment. Just as people are born with different eye colors, folks are also born with different cognitive and sensory profiles. Some neurodivergent individuals benefit from support or accommodations that help them navigate challenges and lean into their strengths. As a mental healthcare provider, being able to recognize and respect these differences is essential to providing inclusive, effective care. On Wednesday we had an enlightening, honest and open panel discussion. Though we all come at it from different roles and directions, in the end we’re aligned on doing what’s right for the patient, member, employee and individual. Care can be complicated. Getting there shouldn’t be. Thank you for your expertise and insights, Sam Holliday Kim Hurst Alexandra Paul!
We’re excited to attend Business Group on Health's Annual Conference this week! Our Chief Medical Officer, Douglas Newton, MD, MPH, will be speaking at their plenary session “Lost In Network?” alongside leaders from Accolade, Inc., Oshi Health, and UnitedHealthcare. As more providers shift into virtual care models, it’s never been more important to ensure clarity, collaboration, and connection within health plan networks. This panel will explore what’s at stake when innovative solutions become indistinguishable — and how we can work together to make sure members don’t get lost in network. We’re proud to be a sponsor of this important conversation — and even prouder to help lead it.

“Just stay positive!” “Well, it could be worse.” “Good vibes only.” Many folks hear these phrases at work, often from well-meaning people who want to keep things "light". But when someone’s struggling, those words can feel more dismissive than helpful. Here's a few examples of what real support can sound like at work, and how small shifts in language can build trust, safety, and care on any team. (Also, if you feel comfortable sharing, we'd love to hear some of the toxic positive things someone has said to *you* at work in the comments. 👀) Read more on toxic positivity and why it isn't harmless over on our blog: https://lnkd.in/en5fB72m

Have you ever been told to “stay positive” at work when you really just needed someone to listen? Toxic positivity at work can look like: ➡️ Leaning too heavily into "team spirit" ➡️ Avoiding tough conversations to “keep morale high” ➡️ Equating someone sharing their feelings on being burnt out or stressed with being "negative" We talk about why this is ultimately harmful (and what helps instead) in our latest blog post. Link in comments.
