Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice.

About us

Modern enterprises have to manage exponentially-growing exabyte-scale data stores comprised mostly of unstructured data. Someone (often IT) has the difficult job of staying on top of managing these data stores, which becomes more difficult to do as enterprise datasets expand from the data center to the edge and cloud. And while scale and complexity are rising, budgets and staff are not. Existing solutions suffer from two crucial shortcomings: Complexity and platform lock-in. Legacy solutions are excruciatingly complex to deploy and manage. And nearly every solution restricts users to running in only the data center and on expensive, inflexible proprietary hardware platforms. Qumulo is the simple way to manage exabyte-scale data anywhere — edge, core, or cloud — on the platform of your choice. In a world with trillions of files and objects comprising 100+ zettabytes worldwide, companies need a solution that combines the ability to work anywhere with simplicity. This is precisely what Qumulo was founded to accomplish.

Better observability shouldn't come with a bigger bill. We teamed up with Cisco to tackle one of the biggest pain points in scaled Splunk SmartStore deployments: rising API costs. With Cisco UCS and Qumulo working together, enterprises can compact and compress object data and deliver the right data at the right time to keep performance high and costs down.

Arizona State University's supercomputing center supports some of the most data-intensive research happening today. From genomic sequencing for the Earth Biogenome Project to medical imaging studies on cancer and tumor response, the volume and complexity of data keep growing. Qumulo helps ASU's research teams access files seamlessly across protocols, whether they're working from a laptop, a workstation, or the supercomputing environment. Cross-institutional collaboration gets simpler when identity and access management aren't standing in the way. And rolling software upgrades keep downtime to a minimum for researchers doing critical work. Now, as ASU launches a new medical school, the demands are expanding. Clinical data brings new compliance requirements, including HIPAA encryption and security standards. The university needs a storage foundation that can handle regulated data alongside the petabyte-scale research workloads already in motion. For ASU's team, the standout has been how easy Qumulo is to work with, for administrators managing complex environments and for researchers who just need to get to their data. That ease of use, paired with the performance to support $1 billion in research funding, is why the university sees Qumulo as a long-term partner as their data needs keep scaling.

The creative industry is decentralizing. Directors, VFX supervisors, and producers are building their own studios with the freedom to define their own culture and creative direction. EngineLab exists to make that possible. Founded by Samuel Reid, who previously built the first fully cloud-native studio on AWS as CTO of Untold Studios, EngineLab designs and deploys production-ready cloud environments so creative founders can skip the months of technology planning and get straight to work. Qumulo powers the storage layer, providing the high-performance shared file access that creative pipelines depend on. Studios can scale storage up during intense production phases and scale back down when things slow, keeping costs aligned with actual work. "For emerging studios, cash flow is everything. The beauty of a cloud-native model is that your technology investment grows with your work. You stay lean, stay agile, and scale when the time is right." — Sam Reid, Co-Founder and CEO of EngineLab As AI workflows like automated rotoscoping and asset preparation become part of the pipeline, that same data platform keeps pace, delivering the throughput teams need without adding complexity. The next generation of studios is being built in the cloud. EngineLab and Qumulo are helping them get there faster. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4bDFPlf

🚨 Big news from Qumulo: we're officially expanding to Cork, Ireland with a new European Software R&D hub. 🇮🇪 This investment brings 50 new roles in Engineering, R&D, and Customer Success over the next three years, supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland. Cork stood out for the world-class talent coming out of the region's universities, a thriving tech ecosystem, and a community that matches the ambition of what we're building: solutions that help global enterprises manage and move data at massive scale, powered by AI. The new hub also expands our Customer Success presence across Europe, bringing us closer to the customers who depend on us to be present, responsive, and invested in their outcomes. We're proud to join the Cork community and excited for what this team will build. Special thanks to Kiran Bhageshpur, David Coughlan, Diarmaid Hogan, Anne-marie Tierney-Le Roux, Stephen McLoughlin, Patrick Doyle, Faye Murphy, Jerry Buttimer 👏 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g2DGvTw7

Planning for today's demand is a reasonable starting point. Staying there is where things go wrong. Building high-performance cloud systems is always a negotiation between budget, risk tolerance, and infrastructure fragility. Optimizing purely for speed can temporarily solve one problem while quietly creating several more, including the kind that put you on a first-name basis with your CFO. Not in a good way. The better question to be asking: can the cloud deliver extreme performance when you need it, without locking you into brittle architectures, duplicated storage, or permanently overprovisioned infrastructure you're paying for year-round? Cloud Native Qumulo recently scaled to 1.6 TB/s and 20.7 million IOPS on AWS. Here's what that actually means for how you build: 🔹 Multi-AZ resilience without data duplication. Storage cost stays the same whether CNQ runs in one Availability Zone or three. No replication penalty. No write performance hit. Multi-AZ is the normal operating state. 🔹 Performance decoupled from capacity. Scale up aggressively to hit a deadline or a training window, then scale back down. You're not locked into peak pricing to cover occasional spikes. 🔹 Access to your full regional compute pool. Most storage systems anchor data to a single zone, forcing compute to follow it. CNQ spans multiple Availability Zones, so workloads aren't confined to wherever storage happens to live. No re-staging. No copying. No waiting. Full breakdown: https://bit.ly/4rCGBoX

PFX expanded from one studio to four across Europe, and their creative ambitions grew faster than their legacy storage could handle. 🌐 Scalability bottlenecks. Performance slowdowns. A system that couldn't keep pace with the work their artists were producing. With Qumulo, PFX gained the capacity, speed, and real-time visibility they needed to keep post-production moving across every location. Swipe through to see how they did it ➡️
