International Year of Quantum Science and Technology reposted this
Yesterday was World Quantum Day, and although I’m a day late, I still wanted to celebrate by sharing this poem I wrote about a year and a half ago in a brilliant class led by Sam Illingworth. You can find the published anthology in the comments. While the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology has officially ended, its core purpose remains just as relevant, to raise awareness about quantum science and technologies and to help bridge the quantum divide. To do that, we need multiple channels and formats for communication and engagement. Poetry and storytelling can offer ways into quantum ideas that may feel more accessible to some people. Different forms of art help us express and encounter concepts at another level, opening the door for more people to participate. A responsible quantum ecosystem needs many voices, many kinds of knowledge, and broad representation. We do not all need to be quantum experts. But building quantum literacy is one step toward narrowing that divide and helping ensure that quantum science and technologies are accessible and developed for the good of all.
