Europe has built a remarkable quantum research ecosystem over the past decades. Connecting research, industry, investors and policymakers is becoming increasingly important as the ecosystem matures. Great to see initiatives putting the European quantum landscape on the map. We would also add EQTC (30 Nov–3 Dec) in Dublin to the list 🙂 https://www.eqtc2026.eu
The EU aims to become a global leader in quantum by 2030. Since 2018, the Quantum Flagship has backed that ambition through a 10-year, €1 billion initiative connecting research institutions, industry, enterprises, and policymakers across Europe. Public support is strong. The next question is where that research depth turns into companies, customers, and private capital. That is why the right rooms matter for both investors and founders. We have mapped 50+ quantum-related events across Europe. For founders and investors, these events help show: ✅ Where technical edge meets market demand ✅ Where talent is concentrating ✅ Which research areas are gaining momentum ✅ Where industrial interest is starting to form A few events on the 2026 radar: → Optica Quantum 2.0 / 15–18 June / Glasgow, United Kingdom → Commercializing Quantum Global / 16–17 June / London, United Kingdom → IQT Nordics / 22–24 June / Oslo, Norway → qCCL2026 / 1–3 July / Aalborg, Denmark → Spin Qubit 7 / 13–17 July / Delft, Netherlands → QSim2026 / 10–14 August / Amsterdam, Netherlands → Quantum Machine Learning / 16–21 August / Bad Honnef, Germany → Q2B Copenhagen / 9–10 September / Copenhagen, Denmark → AI, Data & Quantum Summit / 22–23 September / Berlin, Germany → Quantum Effects / 6–7 October / Stuttgart, Germany → Sensing with Quantum Light / 9–13 November / Cologne, Germany → World Quantum Cannes Festival / 17–18 November / Cannes, France And many more on the map below. We would be interested to know if you're building in quantum computing. And if we missed any event, share in the comments. ⚛️ Quantum technologies are moving fast. Opening these ideas up beyond the laboratory is becoming increasingly important. "Quantum Revolution", a new exhibition at Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Madrid, Spain, explores how art, science and technology can help make quantum physics more accessible. The exhibition brings together historical scientific artefacts, interactive experiences, expert interviews and immersive installations. Quantum chips from leading European research organisations —including those involved in the Quantum Flagship initiative— offer visitors a tangible connection to technologies emerging across Europe. Scientists including Juan Ignacio Cirac, Jordi Mompart and Sonia Fernández-Vidal bring their voices to the project, helping visitors explore some of the most fascinating (and counterintuitive) ideas in modern science. 📍Quantum Revolution is open free of charge at Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Madrid, until 11 October 2026. Guided tours, family workshops and school visits are available. 🌍 Next week we're heading to Bilbao for Q-Expo 2026 (18–19 May) The programme brings together a broad range of voices from across the quantum landscape: European institutions, startups, major industry players, research centres, investors and policymakers, alongside organisations such as NATO, ESA, CERN, the U.S. Department of Energy. The kind of environment where some of the most interesting conversations don’t always happen on stage. 📍Come and meet the Quantum Flagship team at our stand in the main hall. We’ll be sharing more about open opportunities and the European quantum ecosystem. And if you haven’t been to Bilbao before: the city is very much worth the trip. #QExpo2026 #QuantumFlagship #QuantumTech #Bilbao

🇪🇺 Europe is investing in the people who will build the quantum future. The European Quantum Academy (EQA) has launched to help prepare the workforce Europe will need to lead in a quantum sector expected to surpass €155 billion globally by 2040. As Jacob Sherson, EQA Coordinator, explains: “Europe's quantum sovereignty will not be secured in a handful of elite labs. It will be secured by connecting the full pipeline — from the classroom to the cleanroom.” Backed by €19.8 million in funding, the initiative brings together more than 70 partner institutions and over 100 affiliated organisations across Europe. Here’s what the Academy will do: • Coordinate quantum education across the full learning pipeline — from schools and universities to professional upskilling and lifelong learning. • Connect talent, education and industry through six Regional Quantum Academies spanning Northern, Western, Southern, Eastern and Iberian Europe. • Help reduce gaps in access to quantum education and opportunities across the continent. The quantum future needs people. Europe is starting to train them. #QuantumTechnology #QuantumEducation #ChooseQuantumEurope #QuantumFlagship

⚛️ New Independent Advisory Board for Quantum Computing in Europe The new Quantum Computing Advisory Board (Q-CAB) has been launched to provide independent, platform-agnostic advice to the European Commission at a crucial moment for quantum computing in Europe. As the field moves from the NISQ era towards fault-tolerant systems, clear assessment criteria and evidence-based decisions will be essential to guide investments, procurements and standards across Europe. Q-CAB will help evaluate different quantum computing platforms and define the next steps for industrialising Europe’s quantum value chain: from early prototypes to reliable products and services. Chaired by Prof. Peter Zoller, the Board brings together some of Europe’s most respected voices in the field: Ignacio Cirac | David DiVincenzo | Sabrina Maniscalco | Michael Bolle | Nikolay Vitanov | Olivier Ezratty. The Board is coordinated by Tommaso Calarco together with the European Commission. “Their expertise will help assess progress, refine strategic priorities, and focus resources where they can make the greatest difference.” - Tommaso Calarco #QuantumComputing #QuantumEurope #DeepTech #EuropeanCommission

What if Europe’s biggest weakness becomes its advantage? A recent conversation with Tommaso Calarco, one of the architects of the European Quantum Flagship, on The Quantum Economy podcast highlights a shift in how Europe is positioning itself in quantum 👇 1️⃣ Public infrastructure as a competitive edge In Europe, startups can access public quantum and supercomputing infrastructure. Innovation is not limited to big tech. 2️⃣ Technological sovereignty is becoming a unifying force Quantum is fostering collaboration across Europe. 3️⃣ Society cannot stay on the sidelines Decisions about these technologies should not be left to experts alone. Quantum still needs to be demystified. Building talent means making the field more accessible across disciplines. Europe may not be following the same path as others — but it may be building a different one. 💬 What role should Europe play in shaping the future of quantum technologies?
