The Judge is the inner critic that torments you about your flaws. Even when you hit your targets, the Judge tells you that you "got lucky," and you need to push yourself harder than everyone else just to keep up. Every person has the Judge Saboteur, but it hides especially well in high achievers because it disguises itself as the reason for your success. The Judge also pairs up with other Saboteurs like the Controller and the Hyper-Vigilant to keep you running on stress and self-doubt. The good news is that once you see the Judge and your other Saboteurs clearly, they lose their power. Take the free Saboteur Assessment to see which Saboteurs are teaming up with the Judge to hold you back: https://hubs.li/Q04hzTwB0 #MentalFitness #Saboteurs #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #GrowthMindset #PositiveIntelligence

Your Saboteurs are impacting you and your team, whether you realize it or not. Your Saboteurs can sound like good judgment or high standards, but in reality, they're limiting your performance and damaging the psychological safety of your team. What can you do about this? PQ Reps. These 10-second mental exercises activate the part of your brain wired for clear-headed thinking. That's the part of you that can catch a Saboteur in the act and hear its lies. "There goes my Judge again." "That's my Controller at work." Once you see your Saboteurs clearly, you don't have to accept what they're telling you. You can pause, contemplate a Sage response, and show up as a better leader for your team. Our latest blog post shows you how your Saboteur patterns shape your team's psychological safety and what you can do about it. If you've ever held back from saying something important at work, you're not alone. 4 in 10 workers worry that being honest could hurt their career. When speaking up feels risky, you may choose to stay quiet, even when you have something worth saying. The problem is what gets lost in that silence. You don't take risks. You avoid conversations that could improve strategy. You ignore the warning signs that a project is off track. Psychological safety makes high performance possible. And it starts with doing the inner work to quiet your Saboteurs and strengthen your Sage. Curious what this could look like for you and your team? Every leader gets hijacked by Saboteurs. It's inevitable. What matters is whether your team feels safe enough to help you catch yourself. Here's an agreement that works: Anytime someone on your team notices Saboteur energy in the room — yours or their own — they can call for a two-minute PQ break. The team does PQ Reps together to quiet the Saboteurs and reset the room. This is what psychological safety looks like in practice. Your inner critic is always on. It's questioning an email you just sent. It's picking apart how your colleague handled a meeting. And it's telling you the project isn't good enough yet. You might try to argue with it or push it away, but the inner critic is an automatic pattern you can't outthink or outmaneuver. What you can do is rewire your brain to catch the inner critic and quiet it down. PQ Reps are 10-second exercises you can do throughout the day to pull your mind out of the inner critic's grip and back to the present. The more you practice, the easier it gets to catch the inner critic before it hijacks you. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're sharing the mental fitness practices that help you turn down the volume on your harshest inner voice. Try a guided PQ Reps session to keep your inner critic from derailing you today: https://hubs.li/Q04gQSHl0 #MentalFitness #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #PositiveIntelligence #EmotionalIntelligence

As a leader, you shape your team's psychological safety more than any policy can. When your Judge Saboteur is running the show, your team feels it. They sense the tension when someone questions your plan, and they notice how quickly you dismiss ideas that don't align with yours. Gallup found that managers drive about 70% of the variance in team engagement. That number reflects the daily, accumulated effect of one person’s patterns on what a team is willing to share with each other. To change this pattern, you have to understand the connection between your Judge and your team's psychological safety. Waitlist Now Open More than 100,000 coaches have now experienced the Positive Intelligence® program through this coach grant initiative. Based on my New York Times bestselling book and Stanford lectures, this app-guided mental fitness program helps coaches strengthen the inner foundations of lasting change — for both themselves and their clients. I recorded a short video sharing what inspired this initiative and why I believe empowering coaches may be one of the most effective ways to create a healthier, more compassionate world. We expect Cohort 27 to fill quickly, so we’ve opened a waitlist. If you know coaches who could benefit, please share this with them. Together, we can expand the reach and impact of coaching at a time the world deeply needs it. 89% of employees say psychological safety is essential at work. Fewer than half actually experience it. (McKinsey) That gap is where Saboteurs do the most damage. When your Judge is running the show, your team picks up on it and starts holding back. People wait to see where you land before they speak up. While you might notice your team has grown quiet, you may not realize you have a psychological safety problem on your hands. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we're exploring the connection between mental fitness and psychological safety. The leaders who create psychological safety for their teams are the ones catching their Judge and keeping their Saboteurs in check. Curious how Positive Intelligence can help your team create psychological safety? Let's talk: https://hubs.li/Q04gR0M_0 #MentalFitness #PsychologicalSafety #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #Leadership #PositiveIntelligence
