"A lot of teams are doing something with skills, but they don’t always know about each other." — Lucas Wantanbe In his work with companies tackling skills-based strategies, Lucas reveals a common pattern: multiple teams experimenting in silos. Sr. Manager, Talent Acquisition Programs, Process, Systems @ United Airlines

There are lots of fun and rewarding things about my job but one of them is seeing our vendor relationships become true partnerships 🤝 Since I started at United Airlines in January 2023, we have been implementing and adopting Phenom. If you have every been involved in any HR tech implementation, you know it’s a journey with lots of twists and turns. But done right, you come out with a good product and even better relationships. If you are in the midst of a crazy implementation (bc let’s be honest, they are all crazy), I’ve found that the best piece of advice is to grow and leverage those relationships and make that move from vendor to partner. I’m super proud of the partnership we’ve built with our Phenom team over the last 2+ years… and I was honored to be one of the first clients to received a coveted sticker of their new mascot, Phrancis. One of my core values is fun and that fun and hard work are not mutually exclusive. So I was super excited to see an an envelope address from said Phrancis! (Who doesn’t love a fun mascot AND a good laptop sticker?!) Cheers to more United x Phenom success! PS - Thanks, Devin Foster for bringing the fun!

“We can’t use AI — our legal team won’t allow it.” But… they already are. 🤯 Tim Sackett, points out the disconnect: many HR leaders don’t realize AI is already embedded in the tools they use daily. The fear? Bias, lack of control, legal risk. The reality? ✅ Guardrails are in place ✅ Private models are more secure than ever ✅ Education is unlocked It’s not about replacing people — it’s about using AI intentionally and transparently.
