From the beginning, Wyatt McDonnell and team have been focused on a simple but ambitious idea: discover antibodies directly from the human immune system and use AI to make them better. Congrats to Burst (formerly Float) on raising $3M in total funding to unlock billions in HSA and FSA spending. 🚀 Pear led the $2.1M seed, with participation from Rock Health Capital, Alumni Ventures, and others. When we first met Anthony Rangel and Shubhi Jain at Stanford GSB, they were building a credit product for consumers and selling into credit unions. It wasn’t the right idea. So they did what great founders do at pre-seed: they listened, they asked questions, and they pivoted. What they uncovered was a much bigger opportunity. HSA accounts are ballooning. They are one of the fastest-growing pools of consumer health dollars, yet billions go unused every year because they’re confusing and difficult to spend. Burst flips that model by fitting into existing systems. It turns reimbursement into an asset for retailers and makes it effortless for customers to use their HSA and FSA funds.
