About us
NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association advocates on behalf of its members in the legislative and regulatory arenas, and it provides training and development; publications and industry events; and an array of employee benefit programs. In an era of transformative technological developments, regulatory challenges and marketplace competition, NTCA members are advancing efforts to close the digital divide by delivering robust and high-quality services over future-proof networks. Their commitment to building sustainable networks makes rural communities fertile ground for innovation in economic development, e-commerce, health care, agriculture and education, and it contributes billions of dollars to the U.S. economy each year. As #WomensHistoryMonth comes to a close, we’re not just reflecting on the trailblazers who brought us to where we are today, we’re also looking ahead to the next generation of women who will lead the broadband industry forward. Inspired by Shirley Bloomfield's 36 years of service to NTCA and her unwavering support for women in telecom, the Shirley Bloomfield Fund for Women’s Advancement, spearheaded by the NTCA Women in Telecom program, will endow a scholarship with the Foundation for Rural Service for a woman employed by an NTCA member company who is a recent high school graduate, a non‑traditional student returning to school, or is completing her degree. https://www.frs.org/donate

As we celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth and Shirley’s remarkable career, lasting impact and the progress of NTCA members nationwide, you are invited to explore the stories, reflections and voices captured in a special commemorative edition of Rural Telecom magazine.
