Last week, Mid-Ohio Food Collective team members welcomed Tatianna Villa, Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and Andrew Coffield, Regional Advocate for the U.S. Small Business Administration, along with representatives from the Ohio Association of Foodbanks, for a discussion and tour of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Mid-Ohio Farm on the Hilltop, and Mid-Ohio Market at Norton Road. The visit provided an opportunity for federal leaders to learn more about MOFC's innovative, community-centered approach to addressing food insecurity across our communities. Thank you to Tatianna and Andrew for taking the time to visit and learn more about the work happening across Mid-Ohio Food Collective and the impact we’re making together. 🤝
Last week, Mid-Ohio Food Collective hosted its fifth annual Drive Out Hunger fundraising event at Topgolf Columbus. More than 30 organizations and 200 golfers came together to raise nearly 400,000 meals for our hungry neighbors. And our meal-raising champion, BC EXCAVATING LTD, who raised nearly 3,000 meals throughout the day for our neighbors in need. At OHLQ, we’re proud to serve our communities across Ohio through action and partnership. During National Volunteer Month, we proudly hosted our second annual Week of Service, where team members joined forces with our incredible partners including suppliers, brokers, agency owners, corporate partners, and creative teams to support food banks and community organizations in Dayton, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, and Grove City. Throughout the week, volunteers helped pack food boxes for seniors, prepare after-school meals for children, and support critical hunger relief efforts in communities across the state. Dalanda Kounta, a construction apprentice and student at Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools, is helping build Mid-Ohio Food Collective’s Eastland Prosperity Center—right in the community she calls home. After graduating this spring, she’ll step into a full-time role with Elford, Inc., the lead construction partner helping bring the project to life.
