Exciting News 🏆 Runner-up! So happy to share that I placed 2nd in the eLearning Design Challenge by Tim Slade and Mindsmith. 🎉 In a design challenge that saw the highest number of entries, this recognition feels incredibly special and a milestone in my journey as an instructional designer. I'm feeling encouraged to keep pushing my creative boundaries! Thank you to The eLearning Designer's Academy and Mindsmith for this opportunity, it was a privilege to compete alongside such talented peers.

I help new instructional designers and eLearning developers grow their careers by focusing on skills first.

Our March Design Challenge inside The eLearning Designer's Academy has officially come to an end...and I gotta say, I was blown away! Besides being our most popular challenge to date, with nearly 60 submissions...I was so inspired by the level of creativity and skill demonstrated by those who participated. This month's challenge was sponsored by the folks Mindsmith, where participants were tasked with using their AI-native tool to design and develop a course on the GROW coaching model for a hypothetical client. I gotta say...at first, I was a little concerned that Mindsmith would be like those over-hyped "one-click-course-creation" tools that don't really deliver. But I was SO wrong! In my time playing with the tool and its built-in Agent, it truly felt like collaborating with another instructional designer throughout the whole process. And what's even better is that it allowed me to put my focus on the actual instructional design...not just the technical development. So, without further delay, let's get to our winners! Instead of just picking one winner, the team at Mindsmith decided to pick three winners! For our first-place winner, we want to send a BIG CONGRATS to Uliana Cheliuskina. In addition to our regular prize of a $100 Amazon gift card, Uliana will also receive a free year of Minsmith + a new iPad Air! As for our two runner-ups, we want to celebrate Jinny Hyejin Hwang, Ed.S. and Foteini Sofouri. Both Jinny and Foteini will take hom $50 Amazon gift cards + a free year of Mindsmith. Otherwise, I want to thank everyone who decided to participate this month and put their skills on display! Amazing work! I'll tag as many of you as I can down in the comments! I also want to thank Ethan Webb and the whole team at Mindsmith for sponsoring this month's challenge and raising the bar! 👉 In the meantime, check out all of the submissions, including our winners, here: https://bit.ly/4skIuqQ See ya around! —Tim #eLearning #InstructionalDesign #LearningAndDevelopment

Can a digital experience help you disconnect from the digital world? 🤔 I’ve been thinking a lot about the "infinite scroll" and that hollow feeling we often get after 15 minutes (or more) on social media. It has a name: FOMO. Fresh from the Erasmus+ Training Course "Glow: Growing Leaders of Wellbeing" in Szeged, Hungary (organized by YOPA), I felt inspired to translate the principles of presence and grounding into a micro-learning journey...that’s how "The Digital Ghost" was born. 👻 Unlike my corporate work, this was an exercise in sensorial instructional design: Minimalist Narrative: Using "soft focus" to lower the user's gears. Digital-to-Analog: Moving from the screen to physical "micro-actions" like intentional doodling. Rapid Authoring: Built with Mindsmith to prioritize a frictionless, clean aesthetic. Sometimes, the best instructional design isn’t about teaching a new software, it’s about creating a space to breathe. Just finished my first branching scenario project, built as part of Tim Slade’s The eLearning Designer's Academy March challenge. Built in AI-powered authoring tool Mindsmith, using branching scenarios, interactive activities, and an AI conversation role-play for realistic coaching practice. For this project, I wanted the learning experience to feel closer to real coaching conversations—which are rarely neat or predictable. Instead of polished examples, I designed scenarios with tension and curveballs (resistance, blame-shifting, vague responses) so learners practice navigating the messy moments that often happen during performance conversations. I also approached the GROW model as non-linear, allowing conversations to move back and forth between stages as new information emerges. The scenarios include opportunities to make missteps and recover, showing how earlier decisions can influence later outcomes. My original design aimed for a mastery-based progression, where learners demonstrate strong coaching before moving forward. While platform limitations meant adapting this approach, the experience still emphasizes practice, reflection, and repeated decision-making. This is my first branching scenario project, so I’d especially love feedback on how realistic the scenario dialogue feels and whether the coaching conversations feel authentic. ✨ New Project: AI-Powered Learning Just dropped my eLearning challenge submission and I could not be more thrilled about it! Thank you Tim Slade (you're a gem in the ID community) and Mindsmith for this fun and inspiring contest. Take a peek at my design: https://lnkd.in/ew8VpsDY - Check out the carousel below for my design decisions. You'll find some pro tips👇 📍Overview AI-powered eLearning course for Gilbert's Pharmacy for teaching managers how to use the GROW coaching model (Goal, Reality, Options, Way Forward). 📍Live AI coaching simulation Learners coach an AI pharmacist avatar in a fully unscripted conversation. The AI tracks coaching quality across all four GROW stages and the avatar reacts differently. AI grading system is customized in the backend, so it evaluates responses based on GROW stage criteria and Gilbert's core values, not just general feedback or a simple 'great job!'. 📍AI-graded reflections for transfer Every module closes with a genuine, tansparent reflection. AI grades returns personalized formative feedback immediately. 📍Integrated instructional frameworks Merrill's First Principles (problem first, theory second, application immediately after), Kolb's Experiential Cycle (every module follows concrete experience, reflection, then active application), and Mayer's multimedia principles. #InstructionalDesign #eLearning #LearningDesign

I’m excited to share my submission for Tim Slade's The eLearning Designer's Academy March Challenge, sponsored by Mindsmith. The Project: A deep dive into Gilbert’s Pharmacy. 💊 85 years of history. Thousands of prescriptions. Zero room for error. In a pharmacy, accuracy isn’t just a goal—it’s a legal requirement. But how do you focus on professional growth when the drive-thru is backed up and the phones won't stop ringing? The Goal: Helping managers use the GROW Coaching Model to bridge the gap between "getting the job done" and "growing in the role," even in high-stress environments. I was honestly blown away by what Mindsmith can do. See for yourselves the Coaching Scenario with Maya, a Pharmacy Technician at Gilbert's. 👉 View my submission here: https://lnkd.in/dnENB-se Can you guess how long this whole thing took me to build? #eLearning #InstructionalDesign #LearningAndDevelopment

✨NEW✨ Just finished a new portfolio project in Mindsmith for Tim Slade's Design Challenge and I'm really proud of how it came together! 💊 I designed an eLearning course teaching the GROW Coaching Model to pharmacy managers at Gilbert's Pharmacy. I built it around a real character, who faces real decisions, and real consequences. I structured the objectives using Bloom's Taxonomy to move learners up the cognitive ladder: → Remember: Gilbert’s Core Values and their connection to coaching → Understand: The purpose and four stages of GROW → Apply: Practice strategic questions through real branching conversations  → Analyze: Dig into the root causes of a performance challenge with Ryan → Evaluate: One final coaching conversation — all four stages, feedback included You’ll notice the objectives stop at Evaluate, that’s intentional. The lesson is designed for pharmacy managers learning to coach its not to design coaching models from scratch. To make it stick, I leaned into interactivity: ✅ Branching scenarios at every GROW stage ✅ Knowledge checks after each lesson ✅ A capstone coaching conversation as the final assessment ✅ A downloadable PDF job aid Tools used: Mindsmith, Canva, Midjourney, Google Gemini Check out my project👇 https://lnkd.in/e_kQFWFV #InstructionalDesign #eLearning #Mindsmith #GROWModel #BloomsTaxonomy #LearningAndDevelopment #Portfolio

I stepped outside my comfort zone this month and participated in an eLearning challenge with The eLearning Designer's Academy—and I’m so glad I did. The challenge was to use Mindsmith, an AI-native eLearning authoring tool, to build the experience. I designed a learning solution to help pharmacy managers use the GROW Coaching Model in real performance conversations, with three learning paths that move from guided scenario-based practice to an open-ended AI coaching interaction. I’d love any feedback! 👉 https://lnkd.in/gQg3qgh9
