#WeekendRead 📚 Is human capital becoming the next major test of board accountability? For years, workforce management was largely treated as a standalone values question. But a shift in corporate governance is underway, moving workplace culture directly into the crosshairs of investor risk and board-level oversight. Key themes emerging: 💡 Institutional investors are forcing a baseline standard. A recent shareholder proposal demanding workforce disclosures at Berkshire Hathaway failed to pass, but it secured 27.7% of the independent vote. Crossing a quarter of the vote is a big warning that investors are no longer ignoring labor risks. 🔍 There is a clash between corporate autonomy and transparency. Berkshire’s strength has been its decentralized model, giving its subsidiaries independence. Yet, on the flip side – without centralized board oversight, shareholders are left blind to inconsistent safety records, labor disputes, and retention issues across the portfolio. We are moving past the era where corporate governance begins and ends with balance sheets. We (The IR-team at Epiroc) are very happy to be nominated in this year’s IR Impact Awards Europe for: • Best innovation in shareholder communications • Best use of social media and video A big thank you to the jury for the recognition. What makes this especially meaningful is the why behind the nominations. Modern IR is not only about what we communicate, but how and where we do it. So, over the past years, we have deliberately worked to evolve how we engage with investors: 1. On social media, we have complemented traditional IR activities with a more continuous authentic presence, sharing insights directly from operations. Using video and partnerships such as Daglig Utdelning, Unga Aktiesparare, and Montrose pod with Nicklas Andersson, we aim to make our investment case more accessible to a wider, and younger, audience. 2. On shareholder communication, we have transformed our annual reporting to an online‑first, data‑driven publication, suitable for an AI-world. Thank you OnlineReports, Anna Oxenstierna and Stefan Pettersson for helping out. --> The result? Improved understanding among investors and an increased number of retail shareholders. Great to also see Wärtsilä, under the lead of Hanna-Maria Heikkinen, nominated across several categories. Well deserved! And always nice to see Alexander Foltin at Infineon Technologies on the list again. He won last year and was a great dinner companion.
