Thanks to everyone who supported our recent opening of the Appalachian Family Life Center located at 25 South Clinton Street in The Plains. The site is now open on Mondays-Fridays from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Services include behavioral health for children and families, infant and early childhood consultation, early intervention, WIC, parenting programs, and training. In January, the site will add primary care services and a pharmacy that will be open to the community. We want to recognize the generosity of local businesses that helped sponsor the ribbon cutting/dedication activities including the Appalachian Children’s Coalition, Eclipse, Spice of Life, Miller’s Chicken, Larry’s Dog House, Apple Bee’s, Texas Road House, and Shade.

Protecting Access to Affordable Medications Every day, community health centers like Hopewell Health Centers serve on the front lines of health care for Ohioans. We care for over 40,000 patients each year, many of whom would otherwise go without access to affordable medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services. But without action from our state leaders, this care—and the health of our communities—is at risk. We strongly support House Bill (HB) 276 and Senate Bill (SB) 198, which protects patient access to affordable medications through the federal 340B program. Congress created the 340B program to assist safety-net providers, such as community health centers, in maximizing limited federal resources and reinvesting the savings into patient care. For us, these savings mean: • Free or reduced-cost prescriptions for patients who cannot otherwise afford them. • Expanded access to primary care, behavioral health, and dental care • Community-based health initiatives like cancer screenings, diabetes management, and preventive care programs. Without this legislation, many Ohioans risk losing access to affordable care and the safety net they rely on. We urge lawmakers to pass HB 276 and SB 198 so that community health centers can continue to deliver high-quality, affordable care in communities across our state.

Our Buckeye Care Clinic team joined the Nelsonville York School Administration in hosting a visit from the Wellness Team from the Ohio Department of Education. ODE team members were interested in learning more about the successful partnership between Hopewell and Nelsonville York City Schools. The clinic opened in 2022 and serves students and families in the district. Lindsay Harwood, the nurse practitioner, and Jennifer Meeks, the LPN, and Cindy Price, the Behavioral Health Supervisor (not pictured) led the tour of the clinic.
