  • At HELP USA, we know that housing stability and access to care go hand in hand. As President of Sun Life U.S., David Healy has helped expand access to benefits, healthcare navigation, and services that support millions of Americans nationwide, strengthening the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities. His commitment to improving health outcomes and expanding access to care reflects the same belief that drives HELP USA’s work every day: that people and communities thrive when they have the support they need. We are honored to recognize David as a 2026 HELP Hero. Reserve your tickets and tables: https://lnkd.in/edYBJqUi

  • More than 100 HELP USA staff joined the #JustPay rally yesterday alongside thousands of nonprofit human services workers, advocates, and community partners calling for wage equity across the sector. Human services workers show up for New Yorkers every day, and they deserve fair pay for the essential work they do. We’re grateful to stand alongside so many organizations and advocates pushing for change and calling for equal pay for equal work.

Yesterday over 100 HELP USA staff joined over 2000 other workers from over 100 nonprofits at the #JUSTPAY rally for human services workers. Organized by Michelle Jackson and Human Services Council of New York in support of Intro 0452, the program kicked off with an inspired speech by lead sponsor Councilwoman Althea Stevens, followed by fellow Councilmembers Alexa Aviles lincoln restler Tiffany Cabán Gale A. Brewer Julie Won and Harvey Epstein; direct service workers who passionately spoke to how tough it is to make ends meet on the salaries they are paid - including HELP USA's own Kadija Anderson, Case Manager at HELP Bronx Morris. Nonprofit human services workers on New York City contracts are paid almost 30% less on average than the City gov't would pay its own workers to do the same jobs. Intro 0452 fixes that, ensuring equal pay for equal work. It's time to #JustPay our staff what they deserve. Thanks to co-MCs Wayne Ho Chinese-American Planning Council and Maria Lizardo Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) for keeping the crowd revved up; to fellow #justpay steering committee members Eileen Torres BronxWorks, Jeremy Kaplan Encore Community Services Corinne Hammons Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York and Ben Thomases Queens Community House; and all the other orgs who were there in force. The need for fair pay isn't going away. WE aren't going away. it's time to #JUSTPAY!!!

  • Every day, nonprofit human services workers help New Yorkers access shelter, prevent eviction, support families, care for veterans, and move into permanent housing. These are the workers staffing shelters, coordinating housing placements, delivering supportive services, and helping individuals and families build stability, yet nonprofit human services professionals continue to earn significantly less than City employees doing comparable work. We’re joining the call for the passage of Int 0452 and continued investment in the nonprofit human services workforce. Thank you to Human Services Council of New York and partners leading the fight for #JustPay.

  • HELP USA’s CASAC & CRPA Client Recognition & Celebration Event brought together clients, staff, and partners to recognize the individuals advancing harm reduction and peer-led support across our Wards Island transitional housing sites. The event celebrated participants in HELP USA’s CASAC and CRPA training programs and honored recipients of the Forefront Award for demonstrating leadership, dedication, and a commitment to supporting recovery and overall well-being. Since expanding harm reduction services, average monthly overdoses across Wards Island shelters have declined dramatically, from 5.67 per month to 0.75 per month. Peer CRPAs have also completed 105 intakes of high-risk clients into the frontline harm reduction program, helping connect residents to critical support and services. Thank you to the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts, EXPONENTS, and NYC Department of Homeless Services for supporting this important work and helping expand access to peer-led recovery and harm reduction services.
