This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the award-winning work of Dr. Arline T. Geronimus, author of WEATHERING: The Extraordinary Stress of Ordinary Life in an Unjust Society.   Dr. Geronimus coined the term “weathering” to describe the lasting physical and mental toll of systemic injustice on marginalized communities. Her decades of groundbreaking research have reshaped how we understand the connection between inequality and health—and why true strides for mental health must encompass social justice.   Contact us to learn more about hosting Dr. Geronimus at your next event. Making Accessible Reads Easy to Find 📚 Little Moa is delighted to announce that as part of our mission to make it easy for readers to discover new worlds of ideas, learning, entertainment and opportunity, we have created two roundels to help booksellers and readers identify books which are dyslexia and low vision friendly. 🔠 DYSLEXIA FRIENDLY These books use a dyslexia friendly typeface – the font is a clear, easily readable design that has straightforward letter shapes, which reduces confusion between letters that look the same. The font is large, with increased spacing between letters and lines of text. The first book to include this roundel will be DRAGONFALL: THE FATE OF DRAGONS by Sarina Clark, illustrated by Alba Gil Celdrán, which will be published this September. 👁️ LOW-VISION FRIENDLY Low-Vision Friendly books have a font size that is 18pt or larger. The roundel will first appear on WILL THE DRIVER BE A WAVER by Paul Beavis which will be published this November.

Yesterday I attended Hachette Book Group’s Books & Bubbles Press Breakfast, where journalists and creators heard directly from publishing leaders about upcoming books, initiatives, and where the industry is headed. As exciting as these spaces are, they also reminded me why I created GEMs in Publishing. Publishing can feel difficult to break into because so much information lives inside rooms many aspiring and early-career professionals don’t initially have access to. GEMs exists to help bridge that gap through industry news, career resources, conversations, and transparency. Because access changes things. If everyone can’t get into every room yet, they can still learn from what comes out of them 💎 #bookpublishing #publishingindustry #earlycareer #jobboard

  • Honoring Heritage While Looking Ahead Little, Brown and Company is introducing a new colophon for its flagship imprint and divisional branding beginning this August, marking an exciting new chapter for one of publishing’s most storied and enduring literary brands. The refreshed design reflects the evolution of Little, Brown’s publishing program under the leadership of President and Publisher Sally Kim, as the division continues to expand into new categories, reach new audiences, and publish timely, impactful books across genres. Originally redesigned in 2009, the updated colophon was created by Little, Brown art director June Park and designer Chris Allen under the direction of executive art director Gregg Kulick. The new look honors the imprint’s nearly 189-year legacy while embracing a modern, streamlined visual identity for the future. As Sally Kim shared, the refreshed colophon reflects “the timely and robust books of quality and merit that define what a Little, Brown book means now, and in the many years to come.” We’re excited to see this next era of Little, Brown and Company come to life.
