Purposeful leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about impact. As Tamla Oates-Forney, former CEO of SHRM Linkage, reminds us: great leaders aren’t born — they’re built. Long goals break teams when progress isn’t visible. So, what keeps people engaged when the payoff is years away? In Episode 3 of Coaches on Resilience, Christopher Fogt, Head Coach of Team USA Bobsled, joins Jenni Black (Benningfield), PCC, MPM, M.Ed., Guild Growth Coach, to unpack how coaching sustains performance over time. Elite athletes train for years for a moment that lasts seconds. Working adults can spend 4–6 years earning a degree while working full-time. The lesson for talent leaders? Sustainable performance doesn’t come from bursts of motivation. It comes from intentional habits, structured milestones, and reinforcing beliefs along the way. This is what it takes to turn persistence into promotion and engagement into culture lift. ▶️ Episode 3: Playing the Long Game

For a lot of athletes, there's a moment where you start thinking: What's next? In sports like mine, careers peak in your late 20s or early 30s. And then it ends. Abruptly. That shift used to scare me. But now I see it as a challenge to meet head-on. Thanks to Guild, I’ve been able to do just that — without stepping away from the sport I love. Last winter, I took a Legal Essentials course through eCornell, the preferred provider of professional education of the Guild & Team USA Learning Network, during World Championships. I had my best competition event to date. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. For athletes, and so many others, this kind of flexibility and access is a game changer. Some people are forced to swim a long way to get to their next step. Guild shortens the swim. I don’t see it as choosing one path or the other. I’m advancing both at the same time. See how other Team USA athletes are doing the same: https://lnkd.in/eYkCbbJT #TeamUSA #GuildPartner

Every “yes” in Dani Aravich’s story started out as a “no.” That’s a familiar reality for anyone striving to grow their career. As a Team USA Paralympian and eCornell student, Dani has spent her life outperforming expectations, first as a child athlete, then by balancing elite competition with career development. Her journey reflects what every leader hopes to cultivate: teams that don’t stop when they hit barriers. That’s the kind of resilience we’re helping companies build at scale. Our partnership with Team USA as the Official Education, Skilling, and Career Mobility Provider reflects our shared belief that resilience grows when people can see and pursue their next “yes.” https://lnkd.in/eCcdM9XR
