Women's unique experiences and safety often surface the gaps cities overlook, from lighting and visibility to how people move through spaces at different times of day. In closing out #WomensHistoryMonth, voices from across the Gensler Research Institute reflect on what it means to design cities that truly account for women's experiences. Findings from our City Pulse survey reveal stark differences in how women navigate urban environments. When cities design for women, they raise the bar for everyone. Gensler's Global Cities Lead Sofia Song, Research Analyst Jacqueline Scherr, Ph.D., and Research Strategist Jacob Plotkin explore what cities can do to get there. 📖 Full article in the comments.

Fast Company explored how architects can design airports to ease long security lines, with insights from Gensler Aviation Leader Ty Osbaugh. He discussed designing to manage varying flows of passengers, referencing Gensler’s work on the $9.5 million redesign of Terminal 1 at John F. The future doesn’t unfold on its own — leaders shape it by seeing what others overlook. Join Gensler's Derrick Mead and Lis Russo as they explore how disciplined foresight helps leaders navigate uncertainty with intention, not intuition. It’s a reminder that the most resilient organizations aren’t just reacting to change. Instead, they’re preparing for multiple futures at once. https://lnkd.in/eVhvJi87 #forecasting #designforecast #designtrends

Introducing The Blueprint Studios at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. — the newest space in the arena’s transformation. Designed by Gensler, the club draws inspiration from the streets of D.C., featuring coffered ceilings referencing Union Station, and archways, lampposts, and Neoclassical details woven into every corner. Gensler Design Director Andrew Jacobs details how The Blueprint Studios are designed to give fans a full night out, with an experience that feels unmistakably rooted in this city and unmistakably new. The Blueprint Studios marks another chapter in Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s reimagining of Capital One Arena, opening ahead of the 2027-28 season.

The experience economy is already here. Cities that thrive in 2026 and beyond won’t win on amenities alone, but rather they’ll win on meaningful, memorable experiences that keep people coming back. Gensler’s Lexi Barry breaks down what it really takes for cities to compete and why design is becoming a city’s biggest differentiator. https://lnkd.in/eWjiqzZK

We’re pleased to announce the completion of the first phase of CamLIFE, a pioneering science and innovation campus in Cambridge, developed by US-based life sciences real estate investment company Longfellow Real Estate Partners. The milestone marks the transformation of 170,000 square feet of underutilized office spaces into state-of-the-art laboratories and workplace environments, strengthening the region’s research ecosystem. Comprising three separate buildings, Gensler's design approach embraced adaptive reuse, retaining the existing structural frames and facades to reduce environmental impact. Welcoming reception spaces and light-filled communal areas set the tone for innovation and collaboration. While the architectural strategy is consistent across Cam 1, Cam 2 and Cam 3, each building’s reception features a subtly distinct color palette. Photography Credit: Vigo Jansons

Following the loss of Pacific Palisades Charter High School in the LA fires, more than 2,500 students were left without a place to learn. Gensler was asked to do something that had never been done and transform a vacant Sears building in Santa Monica into a fully operational school — in just four weeks. By activating our global studio network, teams worked in 24‑hour cycles to advance drawings and prepare documentation at a pace the industry had never seen. Our partners matched that urgency. The City of Santa Monica issued permits in under 72 hours, and vendors donated essential materials, including enough carpeting to cover two football fields. Pali High South is more than a temporary campus. It’s a blueprint for adaptive reuse as disaster‑response infrastructure, demonstrating how design can restore essential services at speed and scale when communities need it most. We’re honored that Fast Company named Gensler one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies 2026 in recognition of our work with Pali High: https://lnkd.in/eSpFKxmh
