Some people light up a room. In the Southeast, we filled one with them. ✨ Still thinking about all the laughter, recognition, and moments from earlier this month. May is Jewish American Heritage Month, and we’re proud to spotlight some of our leaders and their values that continue to shape both our communities and our workplaces. Chaim Becker, Director of Corporate Capital Purchasing, shares “Jewish American Heritage Month is an opportunity to reflect on the generations of perseverance, innovation, and service that have shaped our community. I’m proud to carry forward those values through leadership rooted in integrity, accountability, and care for others.” Jake Komin, Chief Performance Officer, shared a quote that drives his leadership “Who is wise? Someone who learns from each person.” This comes from the Pirkei Avot, a collection of Jewish ethical teachings and wisdom from ancient rabbis, focused on character, values, and how to live a meaningful life. Jake believes everyone has something to contribute and it’s a leader’s job to learn from every person. Thank you, Chaim and Jake, for the leadership and compassion you bring each day. ❤️

During Mental Health Awareness Month and Military Appreciation Month, we recognize the strength and resilience of the residents who live within our communities, and the personal journeys many have experienced throughout their lives. At Oceanside Center in Hampton, NH, the Tuck Unit is a behavioral health program that supports individuals living with chronic mental illness, trauma, and complex behavioral health needs through structured, compassionate, and person-centered care. One of these residents is Alan, a 78-year-old Army veteran who was proud to share his story with us. Alan spent much of the last 14 years moving through hospitals and institutional settings following a long history of trauma and violence. When he first arrived at Oceanside Center, he was largely withdrawn and isolated, and rarely engaged socially with others around him. Over time, through patience, routine, encouragement, and consistent support from staff, he slowly began reconnecting with the world around him. He started attending programming, participating in conversations, and building relationships with both peers and caregivers. One thing that quickly stands out about Alan is his incredible love of music. He can effortlessly move between Motown classics, soul, R&B, and 90s hip-hop, connecting songs and artists to memories throughout his life. Despite the trauma and challenges he has faced throughout his life, he continues to hold tightly to the memories, music, and pieces of himself that bring him comfort and meaning. At one point, Alan quietly shared, “Some people only remember what they want to remember.” Today, he is a thoughtful, social, and valued presence within the unit community. Alan’s story serves as a reminder that veterans living with mental illness deserve dignity, support, compassion, and community. Healing does not happen overnight, but with patience, consistency, and human connection, individuals can rediscover purpose, belonging, and a greater sense of self. #MilitaryAppreciationMonth #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth

Over the past several months, our leadership team has been spending time in our centers listening, learning, celebrating teams, and connecting directly with frontline staff and caregivers. These visits reflect the direction we are continuing to move as an organization, empowering leadership closer to the bedside through our Pod Model, investing in our people, and Leading With Heart in every interaction. We are proud of the progress we have made and look forward to continuing to expand how we support and celebrate our employees. Because exceptional care starts with the people at the bedside. Watch for a closer look at the leadership, connection, and purpose shaping our centers every day. Nicole Kaufman Lauren Murray-O'Donnell, LNHA Kristen Morris Brian Plasky, MBA Suzannah Herring
