For two days last week, a Topgolf in Las Vegas became the center of the user-generated content industry. More than 230 creators from the Roblox, Fortnite, and Minecraft ecosystems gathered for the inaugural UGCon, a new event focused on bringing together the developers, creators, platforms, and businesses building the future of UGC. “The next billion-dollar Roblox company is probably in this room,” said Moonbug Entertainment VP of Games & Interactive Ed B. during a panel discussion. “I've got a shortlist in my head — maybe like 65 percent of them are here.” The conference highlighted how creator-led businesses are becoming an increasingly important part of the gaming ecosystem, while organizers at Makeshift say they plan to host substantially more events in 2027 as they work to establish a year-round calendar for the UGC industry.
