What Makes a Good Security Guard — And What Doesn’t In every profession, there are individuals who elevate the standard… and others who unintentionally hold it back. Security is no different. After years in the field, one truth stands out: being a good security guard has very little to do with the uniform—and everything to do with the mindset behind it. A good security guard is defined by: Professionalism They show up prepared, presentable, and ready to represent both the client and the company with integrity. Situational Awareness They notice what others miss. They read environments, anticipate risks, and stay alert without being reactive. Strong Communication Whether writing reports, de-escalating conflict, or guiding the public, they communicate clearly, calmly, and respectfully. Consistency They don’t cut corners. Procedures are followed even when no one is watching. Judgment & Restraint They understand security is about prevention—not power. They know when to step in, when to step back, and when to call for support. A Service Mindset At its core, security is a people-first profession. Guards protect more than property—they protect trust. Who may not be suited for the role? Not everyone is—and that’s okay. Certain behaviors can undermine the profession: • Viewing the role as authority instead of responsibility Security isn’t about control. It’s about safety, professionalism, and calm leadership. • Lack of reliability Late arrivals, missed patrols, and incomplete reports weaken the entire security posture. • Poor communication Silence, vague reporting, or weak documentation create unnecessary risk for clients and teammates. • Difficulty handling pressure Security demands emotional control and clear thinking. Without it, situations can escalate fast. • Disregard for training De-escalation, observation, and emergency response aren’t optional—they’re essential. The takeaway: A good security guard isn’t defined by a badge or a uniform. They’re defined by discipline, mindset, and a commitment to protecting people with professionalism and respect. Security is a career built on trust—and trust is earned through consistent, everyday actions.

Tonight we celebrate new beginnings—but we do so with intention. As the year turns, we’re reminded that life is a gift, and how we care for it matters. Celebration should never cost a life or leave a family praying for a miracle. Every choice made tonight is an opportunity to protect what God has entrusted to us and to one another. Celebrate with joy. Celebrate with gratitude. But celebrate wisely. -If you’ve been drinking, don’t drive. -If you’re exhausted, stop and rest. -If someone needs a safe way home, step in—be the help they need. Getting home safely isn’t luck. It’s love in action. It’s choosing life. It’s choosing to #ArriveAlive May the new year begin with responsible hearts, protected lives, and everyone safely home where they belong. 🙏✝️🥳🎉2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣

Christmas reminds us that service is love in action... Today, we’re especially grateful for our corporate office team who took time to prepare and personally deliver Christmas gift bags to employees working on Christmas Day. It was a simple gesture, but one rooted in gratitude, care, and the belief that people matter. So much of the work done behind the scenes is quiet and unseen, yet it reflects the values we strive to live by—faithfulness, humility, and looking out for one another. We’re thankful for a team that leads with heart and serves with purpose. To every employee working today, and to those who made a point to encourage them: thank you. May this season be a reminder that no act of kindness is ever small, and that God’s presence is often found in how we care for each other. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas filled with peace, gratitude, and grace.

Your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication reflect the very best of what it means to serve—both our nation and our mission. The Best Leaders Don’t Crumble Under Criticism — They Grow From It Criticism can sting — even when it’s well-intended. But emotionally intelligent leaders respond differently. They don’t ignore it. They don’t shut down. They don’t let it knock them off track. Instead, they pause, reflect, and respond with compassion and care. Here are 8 ways to handle criticism like an emotionally intelligent leader: --- 1️⃣ Stay Calm and Listen • Take a breath before reacting. • Listen to understand, not to defend. • Reflect back what you heard to show respect. 2️⃣ Take Time to Process • Give emotions space to settle. • Write down key points before responding. • Ask for time to reflect before moving forward. 3️⃣ Separate Feelings from Facts • Acknowledge the sting without taking it personally. • Ask yourself: “What part of this can help me grow?” • View feedback as insight, not identity. 4️⃣ Ask Clarifying Questions • Vague feedback limits learning. • Ask for examples to deepen understanding. • Clarify intent before reacting to tone. 5️⃣ Control the Urge to Justify • Resist the instinct to explain. • Lead with empathy, not excuses. • Make space for the other person’s perspective. 6️⃣ Respond with Gratitude • Recognize the courage it takes to give feedback. • Say “thank you,” even when it’s hard to hear. • Let appreciation set the tone for future conversations. 7️⃣ Take Action and Follow Up • Identify one shift you can make. • Share how you’re applying what you’ve learned. • Follow up to show integrity and commitment. --- 💡 Criticism will never feel easy. But when met with emotional intelligence, it becomes a bridge to deeper trust and stronger leadership. After all, leadership isn’t about being right — it’s about being willing to learn.
