The Department of War’s new agreement with Honeywell Aerospace to expand production of critical munitions components reflects a broader push to strengthen industrial capacity.   This is a clear example of the Acquisition Transformation Strategy in action.   Establishing long-term demand signals like this does more than increase output. It helps ensure production capacity grows across the entire supply chain, not just at the prime contractor level. That matters because it creates real entry points for small businesses to contribute to critical capabilities at scale.   This kind of partnership strengthens deterrence by ensuring our warfighters have what they need at speed and scale. Deputy Assistant Secretary of War Mr. James M. engaged with senior leaders from across the global aerospace and defense industry at the Aviation Week Defense Conference in Washington, D.C., where he participated in a strategic fireside chat on the future of the defense industrial base and met with companies to learn more about their capabilities. During the discussion and Q&A, Mr. Mismash outlined the Department of War's Acquisition Transformation efforts, emphasizing the urgent need for innovation, resilience, and a stronger domestic supply chain. He highlighted key initiatives aimed at lowering barriers to entry, including LYNX - a new digital platform designed to strengthen supplier readiness, improve visibility into business capabilities, and expand participation across the defense industrial base. He also discussed the Department’s Drone Dominance acquisition strategy and its approach to building a competitive and secure domestic UAS industrial base.
