Powering NYC, Westchester, and leading the clean energy transition.

About us

We provide power to more than 10 million people and businesses across NYC and Westchester. Reliability and accessibility are central to what we do and how we provide energy service. Leading the industry to power tomorrow is our other focus- we are committed to aggressively transitioning away from fossil fuels to a net-zero economy by 2050. To help achieve this we collaborate with customers, regulators, policymakers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure our clean energy future is informed by principles of affordability, equity, and environmental justice. We’re also heavily investing in new technologies and the infrastructure that can get us there. What are a few things we have achieved so far? • Since 2009, our energy efficiency programs have prevented 11 million metric tons of carbon emissions – the same amount it would take to power 1.4 million homes for a year • Recently, we’ve embarked on an 8-year project to make our systems more resilient in the face of extreme weather events

A behind-the-scenes look at the NYSE!   EEI President and CEO Drew Maloney joined Con Edison and our member company executives to celebrate how America’s electric companies are delivering the energy of every day—as well as Con Edison’s legacy of reliably serving New York City and the NYSE for more than 200 years.

  • Rain or shine, our crews show up and get it done. A few weeks ago in Gowanus, our crew pushed forward installing a new transformer in what felt like 5 degrees in order to stay on track for their summer deadline. This work will help power the neighborhood and strengthen reliability across Brooklyn as demand for electricity rises. • We joined partners from the Building and Construction Trades this week to highlight the work that keeps New York running and the union workforce that helps make it possible. Reliability is the foundation of our service and is made possible through strong partnerships with the trades. As weather intensifies and energy demand increases, skilled union men and women who help our teams construct and maintain our energy systems, helping deliver some of the most dependable power in the nation to New Yorkers. Our newly approved $17 billion investment plan strengthens that foundation. By investing early and not waiting for equipment to fail, we’re reducing outages, preventing emergencies, and keeping long term costs down for customers. Together we’re: • Building a stronger, more resilient grid that's prepared for extreme weather and growing demand • Expanding renewable energy and grid infrastructure, including new substations and transmission upgrades • Supporting our own highly skilled union workforce, while contributing to more than 40,000 jobs across New York State • Training the next generation of workers for offshore wind, electrification, and the grid of the future New York’s clean energy transition is being built safely, reliably, and by New Yorkers. We’re grateful for our long standing partnership with labor and for the crews who show up every day to keep this city powered.

  • From early travel to meetings on Capitol Hill, the planning and pace of LIHEAP Action Day was nonstop. But the mission was simple; speak up for the program helping our friends and neighbors keep their homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. LIHEAP helps families manage energy costs and is a critical resource for many of our customers. This advocacy day gave us the chance to share their stories and call for continued congressional support. Check your eligibility for our Financial Assistance Programs here: http://spr.ly/6045hClTF

  • From three different regions of Thailand to NYC, Soothr brings the flavors and traditions of their home into one shared space. With steady power supporting every service, gathering, and late night meal, the restaurant stays focused on what it does best. From the bold dishes to the stunning interiors, their love for their heritage shines through as they prepare to gallop into the Year of the Horse.

  • When the crew’s off the clock, they head to The Nourish Spot—a familiar place with heart. Dawn’s commitment to health, community, and flavor makes her business one of the few in Southeast, Jamaica, Queens serving fresh eats with purpose. We stopped by to share our favorites and hear how her journey from electricity to healthy living keeps her mission grounded in care and connection. This Black History Month, we celebrate her impact all year long.

  • At Brooklyn Blooms in Bed-Stuy, owner LaParis brings her signature floral magic to every arrangement. Her bold, artful designs have turned the shop into a neighborhood favorite, where the community shows love right back. When Valentine’s Day rolls around, the hustle doesn’t stop. Orders pour in all season, the team works nonstop, and that trusty flower fridge and cooler stay running full power to keep every bloom fresh. Through it all, LaParis and her crew keep spreading love, one bouquet at a time.

Winter storms may hit hard, but New Yorkers count on us, and our crews deliver. Through snow, wind, and long overnight shifts, they work around the clock to repair damage, restore service, and protect the grid that keeps New York City and Westchester moving. We appreciate our UWUA Local 1–2 and IBEW Local 3 teams. Their dedication, skill, and resilience help keep our city safe and powered, no matter what the weather brings.
