  • VAMP is tightening. Starting April 1, the chargeback threshold drops to ~1.5%. That “unofficial buffer” merchants had before is basically gone. What many merchants don’t see is the pressure chain behind it: Card networks tighten rules → Banks push processors → Processors clean up their portfolios → Merchants get flagged or shut down. That’s why sudden Shopify or Stripe shutdowns aren’t random. It’s risk pressure moving downhill. And merchants are at the end of that chain. The direction is clear: • Less tolerance for disputes • Faster enforcement • Sub-1% becoming the real benchmark Chargebacks are no longer a back-office problem. They’re a growth risk. If you run an e-commerce brand, now is the time to watch your dispute rate closely.

  • Why evidence quality beats volume? Many merchants think winning disputes is about sending more evidence. More screenshots. More documents. More pages. But issuers don’t read everything. They look for clarity. They want to quickly answer three questions: Did the customer make the purchase? Did the merchant deliver what was promised? Is there proof of it? If the story isn’t clear in seconds, the case is usually lost. That’s why quality beats volume. Clear timeline. Relevant proof. Evidence that actually answers the issuer’s question.     MRC | Merchant Risk Council Vegas recap 🇺🇸 It was a great few days in Vegas connecting with merchants, partners, and operators working on the same problems we think about every single day. A lot of honest conversations about friendly fraud, disputes, and how hard it is to manage all of this at scale. One thing is clear: Merchants are actively looking for better ways to handle disputes and reduce the operational load behind them.
